Replay mode suggestions

I have 2 suggestions for replay mode.

1. Photo realistic - This mode pre-renders the replay mode in photo realistic, I don't care if it can only run 1 fps, or it takes 10 mins to render one lap, but the final replay is an mpg video, which you can watch that looks like real life. This would be saved for the special laps for events and to fool your mates that they are watching a real event. I've not doubt that forza's replay mode will enhance the output and it won't be in realtime - how else would they get things like reflections of cars in the paint work etc.

2. Reduced quality - This mode produces a much grainer image - for some reason the low quality videos on the net, fool your brain into thinking they are more realistic real life tv pictures, than the high def versions (especially on a 42" plasma screen). I think your brain compensates for the grainy images and fills in the missing detail automatically. However, when it's not quite photo realistic you brain identifies all the things that tell you it's not real. (funny how the brain works!)

Does anyone else think they would like these features?

In the WRS, it is vitally important that they bring back the slow motion replays like in GT3. At an even slower rate if we want. I was thinking of making the replay go fast or slow depending on how far forward you lean the right analog stick. And rewind is pointing the stick down.

They seem to have improved dirty replays by showing the time in red, but they still need to fine tune this for every possible boundary for each track. They also need to add WAY more freedom to replay views and let the camera be right next to the walls for verifying wall touches, especially for night closed circuit tracks.

Yeah we definately need some more options in the replay mode. Play, Pause, Rewind, Forward (Slow motion and fast) and the ability to edit some camera views, not some shots randomly placed.

What about a AI for cameras?

Let me explain myself. Many times a great overtaking is not visible in replay because the camera zoomed just your car. So an AI could detect such movements and cath the manouver. Some other times, the cameras (predefined ones) get lost if you stop the car at some point of the track. In this case de AI looks for your, zooming if its the case. In these cases a AI could do a great work!

Just my 2 cents! ;)

i have a question ..is gt5 gonna have 60fps replays ..cause i really loved watching smooth replays ..in the previous games ..it looked really smooth ..and i can tell the difference between 60 and 30 ..it looks slow ..:(

I like the replay modes in GRID and DiRT 2. I'd like to be able to slow stuff down and rewind. It would also be pretty easy to take pictures if it was in slo-mo :D

Yes, as long as it has that I will be happy. When I bought GT5P, I was so impressed with the replays and then even more amazed when each lap had completely different camera angles! After enduring many crappy camera angles from other games (*cough Forza 2 cough*) seeing what GT5P had was a relief!

You don't realize how good Gran Turismo's replays truly are. I do agree with the options, but that's all they really need...the game already looks photo realistic to me in many ways!

I would like the option to have the replay be more like a race broadcast (i.e switch automatically between certain places in the race to a battle for position ot just focus on a different car for a couple seconds) this would make uploading things to YouTube that much cooler.

A replay mode, that can advance to next lap. Picture Mode built-in without exiting to
a different menu, pause, forward & rewind. Best lap replay save. (saving a single lap instead of all laps)

Yes. It was annoying doing one lap then going all the way to the main screen to watch it to take pictures  thats sound really lazy.

I'd like full control (fast forward, rewind, slow motion, pause, etc.) as well as having the cockpit cam for all cars, not just the player's.

Me too! The only game I've seen do this well was F1:CE. The replays in that game were amazing, it even had the same graphics that are on screen when you watch an F1 broadcast in real life.

how about ditching the auto replay that instantly starts up after you finish a race. or at least have the option to turn it off.

slow motion replays from gt3? can u show me an example cause i cant recall seeing them or using it ?

Definitely give us the option to FF, RW, Slow down, speed up, pause etc with more camera angle options like;

- Camera mounted on Left/Right sides of the door (looking forward and back)
- Camera mounted on Left/Right sides of the front fender next to tyre (looking forward)
- Camera mounted on Left/Right sides of the rear fender next to tyre (looking back)
- Helicopter camera
- Further back inside the interior so you can see the driver shifting etc (like dirt 2)
- Mounted on the ripple strips in every corner

Thats all i can think of right now.

it would be cool to have a "passenger cam" or a set of them..like one from next to the driver and maybe another from the back seat.

Replays need a bit of innnovation in GT - they're pretty much the same as they were in GT1...

That being said - they still look awesome!!

Needs to have FF, RW, Pause, 2x, 1/2x and reverse play.
Would like to have:
"Director Mode" - i.e. where you run the replay and get to set up the cameras where you want them and what they point at etc (Nothing more frustrating than pulling a sweet move or awesome drift and the replay camera doesn't get it how you wanted it to!)

+1!
Advance to the next lap, how I'd welcome that feature.

I agree on having more features on the replay. Something like pause, fast forward , rewind....

I also think that it would be nice to have a multi-car replay.
Imagine you can select up to 5 replays and merge them into one. The result would be useful to compare your best lap vs your friends and/or top scorers laps.
The replay could handle car overlapping using the ghost feature.

What do you think?

User definable cameras and paths, placeable from freecam but it's a big ask and I don't really expect to see it.

I sooo need a PC!

The replays themselves are absolutely awesome but would like to see a video editor with a place where you can dump recorded footage, be it a lap or a whole race, to create a movie with later. I imagine the game could/does use vehicle data to reproduce replays to make sure file sizes are at a minimum.

Asking for too much but some Uncharted 2 video options would be cool.

Thats what i´m willing to see!!! Some kind editor, where you can "Record" your Replays, them edit in a timeline .... dont have to be complicated, could be like "Windows Movie Maker" or something like that... them have the option to export in whatever format ... ( would be great in some hd formats )
