This is as much for the Team Managers as much as it is for our intrepid Race Administrator...

Several members of Team GTX do not have replay devices. I've snail-mailed extra cards to these members, and one is going to be forwarded to an additional driver as well.

The problem is, once a race deadline passes, there is little or no chance that the memcard will make it via snailmail back to me before the 48 hour deadline. For the card that's going to another driver before coming back to me, this is especially true.

Does anyone have a problem with delying the replay submission deadlines a bit, maybe 7 days max from race deadline?

This is a non-issue, Ed:

4.2: Replay submittals: All times must be verified by a submitted replay file. Preferred method is via Xport / Sharkport v2 or Max Drive file submitted to the BC5 Administrator / Review Committee at the designated location. Drivers without these devices may physically mail a memory card containing the replay to their Team Managers for electronic forwarding. Replays submitted by any means must be received no more than 10 calendar days after the Round deadline.

Ba ding! That was easy. I knew we would have several people who were using the slow method of subittal so I have allowed for physical delivery time.

👍

Guess it would help if I actually perused the rules a little closer :p ;)

Glad your sorted NO Q. 👍
ED, hope you don't mind me changing the subject and half hi-jacking your thread, but it's to do with replays in a way.

Was just thinking about the review committe looking at the replays later on. The method we are to use in the replay comments box is..

Team name / Driver name / Round number.

There's only 16 characters availible in the comments box (including any spaces), and some of the drivers around have long handles. I just wonder if any of the captains want to post an abreiviation for their team name. so we'd know what one we were looking at.

Ahh nah forget it.. dumb idea..half pissed atm :boggled: anyhow for the record we'll have to use
TT / Name / Race #

Yes, ideally all replays would be given names (both in GT4 and on PC) that clearly identify what's in the replay. I think it's less important that the GT4 name be so clear, since really, the time associated with the replay is a good indicator of which replay it is. But a round number and driver name wouldn't hurt.

GTBN eggmann R1 is what Team Numbers' file names will look like. If we run out of characters in the GT4 name, the team member's name will be truncated.

Anyway, when you re-upload a file on your memcard, it will retake the default name : "Practive", "Single Race", etc. And the game's saving system is made this way : gt4replay[0], gt4replay[1], gt4replay[2], and so on. So, if you re-upload a file having the name of "gt4racing[5]" and then uploading another file with the same name, the first file you just uploaded will be erased.

So you're saying we shouldn't bother naming them anything on our memory cards because the name switches back to default when someone else loads it to their card?
"gt4replay[0]" - Where does this sort of file name show up? In PS2 Mem card browser?

That is correct. I myself tried this uploading everything on my PC and everything just switched back to default name.

Yes. In the PS2 browser itself and for those who has a SharkPort or X-Port, every replay are named this way. You can't identify any replay with SP or XP. You must upload everything on your PC and then erased one-by-one all replay but the one you want in the game and then re-upload the only replay you didn't erase from you memcard. Although, if you have two or more memcards, all you have to do is to send a copy of the replay you want to upload to a different memcard on which you don't have any replay but the one you want.

By the way, where are going to send the replays for verification? Still on a GMail account (which you now must have a cell phone with SMS option to activate this account, heard that on Clubic.com, one of the references in computer) or GTRT?

Thanks for saving us all some work. :)
We should be able to upload the replay files right here, no?

And I've put the GTRT address in the official rules. Thanks, Mistral.

Got a coupla questions, that maybe someone here can help me with, please. In the rules under replay submisions theres this..

4.5: An email address or web site will be provided for time and replay submittal purposes. All Review Committee members will be given access to this location. The first point for replay submittals will be GTChallenge's Gran Turismo Replay Theatre ( http://www.gtchallenge.net/page/gtrt/index.php ). Please upload all replays there so that each verifying manager can download the runs. For backup, please email a copy to bc5replays@gmail.com. Login name is bc5replays and the password is bc5replays.

Q. Is the login name and password in the last line for the replay theatre?? Coz I tried and it doesn't seem to recognise it.. I ended up regestering under my own handle.

Q. I couldn't see a "BC-5" category in the "Search OLR Race" dropdown list. so is there any special category we are to upload them too?

R. The login you can see in the rules is for the GMail account. You have to create your own account on GTRT which is pretty easy to do.

R. Only categories with replays actually appear in the list. You won't see "Board Challenge - R#" until someone uploads his replay. Now, if you want to upload your replay on GTRT, you have to wait that the race you want to upload a replay for ends. I made it this way to avoid people sending a replay so other people can see what his time is so they can improve their own times.

The login information that is provided is for the gmail account only, to give everybody access to the emailed times. This was my original system for using gmail servers to hold the replays.

GTChallenge organized this method independently and so they will have to answer this question.

Sorry to be a bit dim... But the Gmail account is where we now send our official times yes?

Then we also upload the replays at GT challenge for others to view at leasure.

The reason I ask is that it's 10 hours before the first deadline and I just sent a test mail to bc5replays@gmail.com and it came back as a failed delivery.. I got no option to login.. it was just like a normal E mail.. Could maybe someone tell me where I'm messing up please ? Cheers in advance.

Yes, you email TIMES to bc5admin@gmail.com . Sorry about the confusion; I want to keep the replays and time submittals separate so that no one can "accidentally" delete a competitor's time submittal. The replays address will be up and running shortly.
