Awesomely fast car. Slug in the turns. Any setups?

Only thing I did was lower the cars ride height and go to the medium race tires. Car is perfect now, for me! I can beat most anyone I play with this car, even if they have a true "touring car".

I lowered the ride height to the lowest settings. You could also try to stiffen up the anti rolls bars, that will help keep the car flatter in the corners!

try setting it up like the 270R (if u got it) if not, i figure lowering it to about 14-20mm above the minimum is ample, any changes u do make will have an equal and opposite reaction. in terms of roll bars, dont go to strong up front (leave it or lower level is recommended.) 4, 5 and only 6 if u really need it in rear. consider trying it without driving aids, go from there just tweakin' it along the way. if you want more in depth stuff, reply with what ur mods are and ill give u some help. i agree with the medium race tyres, only if ur doin' really long races, if money isnt a problem buy the super softs as well. qualify ("Practise" on menu) with the softies and race on the hards (grip v. life.) if u haven't done anything with it yet, not much is required, if u need it for an event with "normal" or "sports" tyres required, stick with what you got on there already, grip levels are where u need them and the life is pretty long (certainly long enough for any events i know of!)
good luck man,

Depending on which track you're racing, I came up with something that seems to compensate for the sluggishness in the turns.

I bought the TC Clutch and FC Transmission, and set first and second gear fairly close to one another (I'm at work, so I don't have the exact settings handy) and brought third gear in as well. 4th and 5th gears are wider to let you still get up to a respectable top speed.

I think stock, 2nd gear will get you up to about 85mph before redlining. My configuration brings second gear down to around 70-75 at the redline.

This doesn't make it less sluggish, but it does get back up to speed fairly quickly. You will sacrifice a little speed on the top end this way (or better stated, it'll take longer to get to higher speeds this way), but it'll get you out of the turns without losing much speed.

Also, try disabling the traction control settings. You can slide around the corners a little more that way too. Once the tires get back down, you'll go.

If I get a chance to get on the PS2 this evening I'll find the settings and relay them.

Naturally, you'll want to change your gear ratios for the track you're on, but this should give you a place to start

I have the same problem. I seem to get passed, BAD, by EVERY car on the turn, but catch up after. The RPMs slow WAY down when turning and the car brakes way to hard! I need help! I turned off the Traction but now need to tweak the suspension, etc. HELP!

This setup makes the 400R handle almost like a JGTC car:

It worked like crazy in GT3, and those settings seem to all work in GT4. Note that no LSD is used, and the VCD setting is at 10.

I'd add a wing as well, and max the downforce.

I will look a this later. For now, ya'll can take my advice to heart:

I have the Nismo 400R and tried for two days to beat it. I had the Stage 1 Turbo, Full suspension, full compliment of drivetrain mods, engine mods, racing muffler, etc, etc. The only things I was missing was the Rollcage, turbos 2-4, and intercooler. I thought I was perfect... BUT, I hadn't changed from Sport tires yet. I had no grip and lost WAY too much speed in the corners.

Solution: Use the 400R, Medium Racing tires, full mods (u don't even need turbo 1), no traction or assistance controlls, full downforce, strong brakes, and tweak the suspension settings. Make sure that you are on the top of the largest gear by the end of the long straightaway, and you should be good.

Tires and brakes are the key. If u can stop later, corner tighter, and accelerate quicker, it is yours!

I'm past the 400R. I will keep it for nostalga. Actually, I have only sold one car other than the RSC for money. I have a HUGE garage now. 4 full screens!

IMO the 400R in GT4 is very different from the 400R in GT3. Like the stock powerband you don't need to go all the way up to 9000rpm. It's best to shift at 8000 rpm anything after that and the engine is just losing steam.

I don't see what's so bad. I can drive that car stock with sport tires and beat much better competition. Yes it needs some tweaking for certain courses (Twin Motegi comes to mind), but maybe instead of trying to tune every problem with every car, realize that each car is different and therefore must be driven differently? I find many of the times I'm fed up with a car and want to tune it, just learning how to drive it or changing my driving style fixes the problem.

i agree with you. i would have done more miles in the 400R than any other car in the game, both gt3 and gt4, so i'm no stranger to its' handling. i wouldn't say it has much understeer at all, actually one of my favorite things to do in gtrs is to lean into corners heavily on the brakes and drift my way out of them

gt3 and 4 are great because they actually teach you to slow down for corners, you can't just come into a hairpin at 120km/h and turn the wheel like in other games. but that setup makes it even better, try it and see what you think :)
