I know Giles likes to leave it as an excercise for the student to figure out why certain threads get locked. He gives people credit for being smart enough to do that.

Some of you are too stupid, lazy, or belligerant to figure out why threads get locked yourselves. You blame it on Moderators who do their jobs, or newbies, or post whores - on anybody but yourselves. So for the education of all you stupid, lazy and belligerant people who posted in the Britney Spears thread and others like it, here is the relevant section from the Acceptable Use Policy:
  • You will not use profanity in our forums, and will neither post with language or content that is obscene, sexually oriented, or sexually suggestive nor link to sites that contain such content.
Jordan provides this site free of charge to anyone who signs up. In exchange, all he asks is that users follow the rules, in the interest of providing a strong, valuable, and enjoyable community. Some people refuse to return even that small favor.

Refusing to follow clear and constructive rules shows complete disrespect for this community and its creator. You are effectively saying that Jordan and the forum he provides are not worth any effort at all from you. It does not require much effort to behave like a civilized person. Note that I didn't even say adult, though some of the most childish behaviour comes from users over 18.

People who do not respect this community and the rules will be invited to change their behaviour or to leave GT Planet. Continued disrespect will result in ejection.

Is that clear enough, or do I need to name all the stupid, lazy, belligerant people specifically, so you will understand that I'm talking to you?

Here is the Acceptable Use Policy. Read it and follow it.
 
I agree absolutely. Come on people, this is a community! Don't degrade it with crappy pornos and the like!

I would like to add that threads that are completely without merit (such as the one concerning Ms Spears) shall be treated as such. I want to see content people, I want to see threads with something to say. It doesn't necessarily have to be earnest, but there has to be something there. The Spears thread was amongst the most vacuous ever in the history of GTPlanet, and it had to go.

I'd also like to express my complete displeasure at the number of threads I see which start off well, and then degenerate into rounds of "You suck" posts. Don't be surprised when you see those with a little padlock next to them and my name as the last poster.

Ultimately, if you've nothing to say, then don't say anything.

Well done for kicking this one off Duke.
 
Isn't the whole purpose of the "TEST FORUM" to test and spam anyway? The Rumble Strip DOES have good content, so don't kill it.

How about if you have to spam, go somewhere else to spam. Just a thought. Very good points from Neon_Duke and GilesGuthrie! Kudo’s to you both. The bottom line is that the only people who can make this community worth investing time into it are the members that interact here. Hopefully the release of GT4 should help significantly, but lets try to refrain from such dribble and nonsense that just brings the overall I.Q. level of this community down.

Please take the time to read the AUP. Neon_Duke was kind enough to supply a very large link to the AUP. Remember to treat your fellow member with respect, even if they don’t deserve it. If you see a problem with a member, contact a Moderator to take care of the situation. If the problem is with a Moderator (yes it’s true, we are human also), contact Jordan or one of the other Moderators to look into it. Either way, the point is to not scratch at the festering sore, but rather contact someone who can extinguish the issue so that it can be resolved.

The community is not a Pre-school playground….I hope that we can rise above this little bump in the road, and perhaps help justify the move to the new server. Let’s not ruin this, eh?

Jordan spent so much time making GTP5 and spent alot of money on a new server. He put alot of time into this website. Lets show Jordan and the moderators some respect eh? ;)
 
If we all make a little effort, we can make this an even better community. It doesn't take much, really!

GTPlanet is already known all across the web, why not try and make it even more inviting for new people to join, by behaving responsively and politely towards each others? We can do it, i'm fairly sure... Let's all bring something to this community, to make it better.

And where is this rumple club? I would hope that's not here in GTP, and is there something wrong with using a capital letter when you start a sentence and a period when you end it? I'm not trying to be picky here, but we are talking about making this community better, and your post was well....., lacking.

There are rules and standards for a reason, and the Rumple Club is no exception to the AUP.

The Rumple Club is in the Test Forum. :dunce: :p But now the Rumple Club has its own forum (on another site).

I've done some mighty stupid things in these forums, and I still do occasionally, but I'm getting better about it. Thanks for putting up with j2s, he was an idiot.
 
The amount of whoring and the amount of people being...well, assy is way to apparent. Almost to a point where its unbearable. Do you guys know how annoying it is to get on GTP and be overloaded with threads that say "LOL!!! READ DIS!!" or some crap like that? You then click on it only to find that the title is one of the only times that person ever uses capital letters at all. I wonder why they haven't been kicked out of school yet or how they even passed with such grammar. I've almost left GTP for this one reason alone. Really. It doesn't help that some of the members are flat out ********s.

And mark my words. If I were a mod, I'd be freakin' nasty. I would make sure that they (the postwhore, etc.) never make another thread like that in their life that even got close to breaking the rules. Some people would say that I'd be abusing the power. I say I'd be using it to it's limits. GTP is having trouble right now and someone needs to take charge. Now, you guys are trying as hard as you can but you need to be harsh.

Y'know what would help? Deleting the nitto thread and all threads about it and deleting such threads when found. This a Gran Turismo and car enthusiasts website, not a Nitto racing website. I have to actually look for threads about PC gaming in the PC gaming thread. Sad isn't it?

Kosmik you are 100% correct. I left GTPlanet for a day some Moderators know about. It was too much to bare. Some GTP members have been here longer than some, but there really rude.

GTPlanet, is a big part of the reason, I use my computer.

I think It's ok to provide different areas at GTPlanet. It makes GTPlanet a bigger community. But, there are people who are abusing these priveledges. They sign up for Nitto Ratios. That's completly crap. The PC Gaming has been a Nitto Forum these past weeks/months. However, I don't agree on deleting the two main Nitto Threads. The house the Teams of GTPlanet. That should be left alone.

I originally came to GTPlanet for Gran Turismo stuff. I would not have stayed this long if GTPlanet was not so expanded. We can discuss any kind of issue here. If this was a Gran Turismo ONLY forum. Some of us would leave to other forums that discussed those kinds of things. GTPlanet being so expanded keeps us in.
