Yeah, those things were a nice touch. I liked how the rubbish and leaves actually blew away as your car and others raced by.

Mr Kwik, it's a car game, the car is one of the main focuses of attention. Real cars have reverse lights, and a game making a big deal of it self for being accurate shouldn't miss such obvious details. No one is saying it makes it play anyless well, but it does detract from the feeling of realism from the game. The cars on the GT4 have the light texture for the reverse lights there, all it would take it a switchable light object near the texture.

Ya, i can see what your saying but you don't see the reverse lights in your car when backing out of the drive way, right? When setting in your car (which should be the ONLY veiw a game has if it's a so called Simulation) it's not possible to see the back up lights themselves. Now maybe they should make a soft luminescent light appear in the rear veiw when ever backing up on a dusk or night track. Sorry don't want a debate here I like all of my fellow turismo friends. :) 👍

lol in PGR2 Edinburgh is filled with trash on the street in the night races... I asked a guy who lives there and says there still isn't enough! Wash. DC has a lot too... ?

 I'm guessing PS3 will have all of that stuff and more.

Imagine the price?
I imagine the price shouldn't be too high, 300 or so. Nobody would buy them at 400, they would lose money. Everyone would buy them at 200, they would lose money. A lot of people will buy them at 300, they probably would still lose money, but not as much.

And I imagine the PS3 box will be in the form of a sheep?

nope nobody's seen'em. But personally, I could care less if a little white light turns on and off.

I'm taking bets right now, who thinks the minute GT4 comes out, there will be a thread that reads: "OMFG1!! NO REVRESE LGHITS!1!!!111! I FXKING H8 Gt44$$$4!! LOL!!1!!"

Oh god, that'll be worse than the "NO ONLINE. I'm so hate Gt4 **** PD and them" threads. 👎

you graphics junkie...reverse lights will add about as much as another decal on another race car...nothing. So what, again like I said, who really cars, and more so, when have you ever known the AI to use reverse? Since the game isn't going to be online it doesn't matter. Even if it was online, as I staed before, if you hit someone going in reverse, you deserve it, it's not like they are blending in with the surroundings...they'll be the huge solid mass sittin in the middle of the road. Besides, the MAIN function of reverse lights is to light the way when backing up when dark outside...soo...why do they matter?

Hey, no more discussion on reverse lights? I must have made some pretty good points on my last post. Hmmm have to give myself a pat on the back for that one. 👍

Yes, I do agree that the cars in GT4 should contain some reverse lights to make the feel of reality even more in-depth for the best experience in my opinion. I would also like the ability to include some way to be able to put the top down of the cars if there convertible I'll love to see the Mercedes Benz SL600 I think not sure, anyways yea the reverse lights should be included. 👍

I also agree that GT should include reverse lights. Of course in normal condition, u won't see it. However, when u spin out or crashed (hey, **** happens..), u may need to use reverse to get back on track or to the right direction at least. It's not really necessary but I juz think that it adds to the realism in a way. More over, KY stated that GT has couple of important components to it, one is the driving part and the other is the replay/GT-tv. So what I'm saying is by having this feature will increase the level of detail to the game.. though not a lot but enough to satisfy my picky-ness. One may argue that u wouldn't wanna see the crashes in replay or who would be so stupid to watch for such little things... but as an auto-enthusiast, I'd watch every bit of my replay (no matter a fast run or not, clean run or crashed.) So yeah, I'm looking forward to see this feature to be included.

Why am I here? Good sir, I am here to spread the word of the cow to you heathens! You may think a cow adds nothing to a game, but I'll have you know that nothing brings a smile to my face like racing along in a fast car, and hearing a faint " moo" as I scream past a cow at 180 mph. You may not understand, but that is where I come in, I shall help you to help yourself, I shall open your mind to why this game NEEDS cows. I only buy games with cows as I believe a cow is for life, not just for christmas. Some one needs to put their foot down on the way cows are ignored in games, thus I boycot games that don't have them.

I hope you understand now my student.

remember, cows have feelings too, every cow hurts...

Code You get my award for the funniest post of the year!

That was soo funny! :) 👍 .....I so want that as my signature!

Depth? Depth?! I don't think simple white lights that go on while in reverse adds depth. Depth would be being to alter the workings of a racing chip or something.
it does add depth to the game just light the taillights do to the car. its the little things that count

Seeing as everyone ignored me when I last said this! :grumpy:

The Mazda RX8 Concept car had rear white lights......that came on when the headlights where on.....they were mounted in the rear light cluster......

so PD have done it before!

I seriously don't care if reverse lights are in or not, but slow down on the self patting of your back:
If a tree falls in the woods and your not around, does it still make a sound? It does, you just can't hear it. Does that mean the tree/sound should not be there JUST because you can't hear/see it? By your logic, they don't even need to model anything lower than the hood on the car, why? because you can't see it while your sitting in the car. Just add some tire noise and some engine grumblings and call it a night.

Fine by me, as long as the incar veiw is good and the car physics are correct.

Actually, they're to let people walking by that the car is in reverse so they don't get in the way and get run over by uncareful drivers. The reverse lights are too small to cast a big enough area of light to see from the side and rear view mirrors.

:*( having no reverse lights is much much more worse than not having an online mode in the GT4 offline release in December. Maybe reverse lights will be in the GT4 online version in 2005?

that'll be the new selling point for people to buy the online version! "Now With New And Improved Reverse Lights!" :dunce:

They should have reverse lights to cars that are for the road, of course not race cars. They don't exist on them. It would add an extra realism to the game. It is The Real Driving Simulator after all.

Reverse lights are for when you hit the wall. plues i thinck the should also add side veiws.
I have to agree with Blackbird thy to call themselves The Real Driving Simulator!

Regardless of their function, even if they are there to let pedestrians know, or light up your rear when backing up at night, this still holds no bearing.

As for them adding 'depth' this is incinuating that reverse lights are a tuning option, lol, makes me laugh to no end. All this does is add to the astheticly pleasing aspect of the game, but adds nothing additional to gameplay, and has no effect on the game play. Now were the case different, say headlights, and you couldn't see at night with out them, that would matter, however since the exclusion of tail lights does not directly, or indirectly for that matter, affect gameplay...they are not a huge loss, it's just something Forza had to give their xbox junkies a reason to buy a game that will not measure up, but might come close. If you see one game is missing something, add it to yours, regardless if it's right or not, if it has it, it has it...this is microsofts mentality...it's the reason Fable had such great features but had a half assed story line and only lived off something like 13 hours of gameplay...weak.

All in all backup lights are not necessary and will never add anything to the gameplay of a racing game, it is only a visual pleasure and even if it's gone the game plays just the same...so drop it.

There is no need to drop it, con. People can speculate all they want on the subject. So you can just leave and not come back and let people express their opinions.

Take it as a suggestion, but honestly this thread is kind of like argueing that white wall tires are better than standard tires, when in reality it has no affect on the tire, only the visual aspect of it...it's just something that isn't important. This thread would not even be here if it weren't for Forza hyping up the fact that they have backup lights...I mean seriously, if the game has to rely on backuplights as a main point the how strong can the game play be? I play racing games to race, not to gawk at backup lights....

It's part of the experience. You say it's okay to miss one small things, but these small things add up to one big chunk missing from the experience.
