Well so far I can say Montreal it's the best looking track on rF2. The lighting is just right, none of the blurry haze you get on the other tracks. Other than a "strobe effect" coming from the fencing it all looks pretty good, still a bit rough but it looks good! And best of all I'm getting a minimum of 52 FPS with 12 Formula Renaults on track at high settings.
Pretty good job from this guys!

Kewl! Thanks for the update Jav.

By the way, I had forgotten to mention the wet track effect came back in my latest rF2 install, very strange. I will try to resolve it this weekend.

Cheers

Topan Park is a hell of track!try it Jav...
With the Clio it's a blast to drive in this track:tup:.

Toban:
Me drive the 370Z with the default setup:
watch in fullhd

Interesting track and great driving, but that cocpit is fugly:yuck: (I know you probably toned down graphics settings but still)

EDIT: that Clio is so so good :))

I have every thing toned to Max(with a triple screen I get 90fps too)!The

the cockpit of the Clio and all ISI cars, except the F2 maybe, have a poor graphics and textures!I don't know if you have rF2 but if you are looking for the super graphics you will be very disappointed!rF2 is all about realistic physic and the best ffb ever:tup:
the graphics will be improved with the modders but it will take 1-2years to reach a good graphic level!

Ps:You have to consider that in live it is much better!

Will download in a few minutes!
Also Voltaic what Wajdi said about the race settings fixed it for me, always make sure every session is set to "naturally progressing", the wet/drying track effect comes with the "green" track setting.

That explains it! I will be sure to check/change that when I get back.

Thanks guys!

gday guys, new here. Can anyone help point me in the right direction as I have a few questions.

1. How much is rfactor2
2. is there any additional costs? i.e. with iracing tracks and cars cost money
3. If its free, wheres a good website with resources for tracks, cars etc
4. Is there a multiplayer add on? Or is it within game? How is the multiplayer? Is it lobby system or do you have to set up times with people etc.

Cheers. I am long time fan but first time poster. I am quite sick of iRacing, paying a whole lot of yearly fees and the multiplayer isn't as good as everyone makes it out to be. I am not interested in paying $100 a year for some goose to ram me every week and ruin my races...but I still want to keep sim racing. I might dip my toes into rFactor.

Be kind to me!

Thanks guys

1. ~$45US for 'standard' version, 'lifetime' version is ~$85 (explained in 4.)
2. additional cost is multiplayer [explained in 4.] (cars and tracks are generally free)
3. isiforums.net rfactorcentral.com and nogripracing.com would be good places to start to get mods (although right now probably most of what goes on for it is going to be in the ISI forums.)
4. Yes, theres multiplayer, but you have to pay for it. with the Standard version its $12US a year after the first year (from when its released, I believe, so the beta phase its currently in doesnt count towards that.), or if you get the Lifetime version, its included in the cost. Also, you need either the lifetime, or to be paying for the multiplayer in order to use LAN.

Thanks Joven.

So are all the mods, cars etc all free?

What is the multiplayer like. Is it lobby format i.e. I log online and I see "rooms" or is it more like GT5? Or is there a "find now" sort of function?

Maybe not prepared to say 'all' (because there may be some outlier out there or private mod), but I'd say 99% or higher of mods (cars, tracks, gui tweaks, etc) are free.

No idea about the multiplayer, my internet is less than 33kbps dialup. I'd say just give it a try and see (up to 30 days you can get a refund, so its at least worth a go.)

Organized multiplayer events, lots of mods, setups and general stuff can be found here as well: http://www.racedepartment.com/forum/forums/rfactor-2.68/ (and I can vouch or that site since I'm involved in it as well ;)). Multiplayer works through servers, much like shooters in the old days or Game Stock Car 2012. You connect to a specific server and play on it.

What you'll definitely need are tracks. Lots of tracks. I suggest installing at least Mid-Ohio, Croft and Sebring - all can be found here: http://www.racedepartment.com/forum/microdownloads/7/viewcat. The included ones are great as well, Malaysia at night is epic for example.

The track is pretty good! No major difference from iRacing's laser scan except for surface texture, everything else seems spot on!
The Skippy, well I tried it for 3 turns and ran away from it! seems to be as much of a challenge as it is on iRacing(<==never tried that one).
Vissually it still looks rough and needs a lot of work! Had to set shadows to medium and textures to medium to get back at 40 FPS with 10 cars on track.

Any of the open wheel cars+Lime Rock .
Love having a proper version with the new chicane. Accelerating out of that in an F2 :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

It's not Lime Rock Park or the Skip Barber cars that interest me most with b125, it's the race resumption. Loved being able to save mid-race in GTR2 so to finally be able to do it in rFactor is 👍👍 On top of that, it's not just a simple "save here and resume here" thing, you can load a race from an earlier point in time and even send the replay file to a friend so they can drive a stint in a race!
