Ripoff Prize Cars

I worked extremely hard to win the 4WD event, and I get the prize car. The Toyota Motor Triathlon car. Turns out I can't race it or sell it. Why is it in the game if you can't use it or sell it? As a trophy?

it is one of the concept cars that are just entended to be fun to drive, you dont have to keep it if you dont want it (go through the menues like you are going to sell it and it will dissapear if you keep hitting yes).......you cant race the VW Nardo, Nike 2022 or any other concept, but they are still fun to drive, unless you are implying that you only want to win the races and nothing else.....

You can race it in Arcade Mode against another car. The reason we can't use concepts like this in races is that the PS2 cant render the cockpits and the drivers. If GT4 was on the PS3, then we could use it in other races.

Can't you use the VW Nardo or do you just race against it in the supercar festival or am I talking about the wrong car? :dunce:

You can use the Nardo. It's only the "Open" cars that can't be raced - the PS2 can't cope with animating the driver as well as opponent cars. The cars that can't be raced are the Model T, the 2 Merc/Daimler carraiges, the Nike, the Toyotor Motor Triathlon, the Auto Union Streamline and the Caterham (though it's not a prize car). Other concepts with enclosed roofs like the Cadillac Cien and VW Nardo can be raced normally.

...And the Tank Car...and the Prowler...

I think it's kinda stupid how you get a similar car as a prize.

Last night I raced the "BMW M Series" cup (is that its name?). I went out and bought and M3 GTR especially so I could enter, I raced and I won, only to find the prize car is another M3 GTR. I understand to stick with brand loyalty they probably can't give away other cars - (for example BMW probably wouldn't like it if after winning their series the prize is a new Audi or Merc.) - but it's annoying to win the car you just bought to enter the race or similar.

Is this how other people feel, or just me? :dunce:

The same happened to me. I bought the R8 to the Le Mans 24 Hrs. 1 and won another R8, even the color is the same.

That's why I always check the prize car list first, so I dont have to buy cars that I can win.

Right. And that's why you can drive the Caterham Seven in a race in arcade? And what about the F1 drivers? They move their heads and arms around.

Surely the best ripoff prize car other than for ironic point of view is the Volvo 240 estate for winning the Euro hot hatch champ. Or does this show the japanesse view of euro hot hatches?????

I haven't driven it yet, is it a street sleeper???????????????

Yes. Right.
That's why all the convertibles have their tops up when racing a full field. It cannot cope with animating the fully open cars and a full field as well. The F1 cars and LMPs only show the head and arms, if you look closely you'll see the drivers have tiny mutant torsos and no legs and the animation for them is sketchy at best. The Model T has a full driver with who changes gear properly and everything. As for using the Caterham....are you sure you raced it against a full field? Maybe one opponent in a rally but not a 6 car race.

Then what about Club RE, where the prize is a 1967 Mazda Cosmo? And the Z Club prize is a 1971 Fairlady? It is a Japanese view of Japanese sports cars?
