If a vehicle can be race modified what is the proper procedure to use?

If I completely modify a car and spend all that money do I lose those modifications if I race modify it in the future.

Thanks in advance

By the car (do not upgrade) then put in any aftermarkets you want. You are correct, if you add mods then RM you DO lose anything you've put into it.

i was wondering this as well. I also wanted to know if there is any difference between race modifying a car, and buying the race car verision of that car. For example, I have a fully modded (not RM) ZR1 vette. If I race modify this car is that car then equal to the ZR1 RM, or is the ZR1 RM a different car that can be bought or won later? This might be a bad example. are there any cars that are both race modify-able and available as race cars and if so are they different?

Here is a list of all Vette's in game. You cannot buy a ZR1 race car, only Race Mod one:

# S Chevrolet Corvette C5-R (C5) ‘00
# S Chevrolet Corvette Convertible (C1) ‘54
# S Chevrolet Corvette Coupe (C2) ‘63
# S Chevrolet Corvette GRAND SPORT (C4) ‘96
# P Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible (C3) ‘69
# S Chevrolet Corvette Stingray L46 350 (C3) ‘69
# S Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C2) Race Car ‘63
# S Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C5) ‘00
# P Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C5) ‘04
# P Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C6) ‘06
# P Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C6) RM ‘06
# S Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 (C4) ‘90
# P/S Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (C6) ‘09
# P Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (C6) RM ‘09

thanks Delta. I've seen that list which is one of the reasons i was confused. They list the RM's as seperate cars, and i understand why, but it lead me to believe that there might be a difference between a ZR1 C6 09 that has been race modified through GT Auto, and a ZR1 C6 RM 09.

it would appear that you are saying there is not. and this is the case for all RM cars?

You don't lose nothing, I thought the same thing after i RM'd my full upgraded corvette, just go to car settings and apply all again without buying anything else.

Thanks for correcting that, technically you do not lose your items, however mostly they are duplicated (making it worthless to do that 1st).

Can't answer for all cars, I have only race modded about 9 cars. But so far that has been the casr

RM cars give you the following upgrades:
Aero parts
Full weight reduction (including bonnet and windows)
Titanium race exhaust
Fully adjustable transmission
Double plate clutch
Semi race flywheel
Carbon cardan axle (not always)
Fully adjustable suspension

If I compare my RM car with a non RM car with the same upgrades, the RM car is:
a bit lighter
has slightly more hp
looks way cooler!!!

So RM'ing has it's benefits. If you're planning on RM'ing use a stock car and not a car which already has upgrades. It's a waste of money on the upgrades, because you'll lose them.

oh sure. i was just wondering if there are cases where the RM car is not the same as the stock version of that car race modified through GT Auto.

the more i think about it though it seams like my question is answered and if there is a case of this it would be labled a different way, like the Lupo Cup Car and the Lupo RM. (as an example, i'm not saying there is or isn't a Lupo RM)

In addition to the above, I believe that the aero parts that you get with the RM mod is better. You have higher downforce with the RM Aero.

something a little odd happened when I RM'ed my vette i thought i would share. My ZR1 was maxed out with all mods. I RM'ed it and the horsepower dropped significantly. I went into the tune shop and there were no available parts, they were all still showing as purchased. At this point I got worried for a second thinking that the RM was actually lower on power then the non-RM max modded vette, but then i went into settings and the parts were all there, they just weren't selected. I had to go through and reinstall all the upgrade parts.

I've seen this as well, it seems race moding for some reason instead of enabling all the relevant mods, just inverts the selection for the relevant mods :dunce:
