I used to really enjoy joining these lobby's, have a nice drive round & large track but now all of them are full of premature kids ruining them.

I don't get why they join in the first place? If your gonna race or drift round 🤬 OFF to another lobby.

I've tried doing my own lobby but just end up kicking everyone because they cant follow the ruled for 5 minutes.

Whats everyone else's views?

I think, although it is creative, road rules is the most stupidest thing I have ever seen in gran turismo.

I play GT5 to race, not drag or goof off.

People probably join with the intention of playing along, but after a few minutes get totally bored and act up. It seems doomed to fail unless you organise a private lobby or something.

+1

road rules, police and all is pretty lame imo.

But I'll say this. I have no problems with racers online. I host my own rooms and people generally obey the rules. And are clean drivers too. Very rare I have to kick someone off. Usually players who choose race cars when the room clearly states road cars.

If you turn all aids off and keep tires limited to sports, most of these troublemaker kids won't bother entering.

Also make it clear it isn't a cops and robbers game as some of those rooms can be named in a similar fashion

This is an ADD society, now. Not exactly the medical diagnosis, but more like the norm.

For me if I do that no one joins, quite frustrating how it seems the only way to get people to join is to have 'Drag racing' or Special stage route X in your lobby title :/

Yeh, the few who do enter such rooms are good drivers though. You will have a good clean race with those folk.

Put a low PP limit in the description.. I got quite a few racers in the other day and had fun for a few hrs. I think I had ''364pp/cs/'' or something like that, and set it to race for fun. I was surprised, I was just checking out my newly upgraded internet connection for a few minutes and ended up racing for hours.

Drag racing is racing. There are professional drag racing in real life. Do not imply that drag racing is not racing.

Drag racing isn't racing..

.......compared to real racing with actual turns that reqire actual skill to navigate. :nervous:

I beg to differ it takes skill to tune your car to perfection, get your take off just right and shifting at that sweet spot.

Those items alone is what makes drag racing a proper race of skill its just a different type

not in GT5, in which every car seems to have launch control

Possibly true I wouldnt know I was stating about drag racing in general not just In a game

Yeah in real life drag racing CAN be 'real racing', in GT5 though?

Anyway, even IRL drag racing seems like more of an 'activity' or 'game' to me than a real sport, especially with trans brakes and automatic transmissions. The $$$ spent on the car and tuning seem to be 90% of the battle.. In road racing it still matters of course, but driver skill has more influence. I remember a drag racer explaining it saying drag racing is like road racing but it assumes you both got to the last corner at the same time.. or something like that. I can see the fun of it in real life, and it is (can be) much cheaper than real racing, but in a video game or sim? I'm starting to agree with and understand why Kaz didn't want it in GT5.

I especially don't like the bracket drag racing where you try to get a 10.00 sec 1/4 mile or below, but not over. That reminds me more of one of those timed road rallies where you complete stages at an average speed.. Yawn... Oh well, I see why drag racers and drifters hang out together.

I have only ever seen one, tried to join it, but got the "incompatibility" error

You must not know about "real racing", tuning IS everything. Driver skill is important too. In F1 you don't think that tuning is not important? they have to tune the transmission, the down force, tires, and everything else. You don't think it take driver skill to handle a car that goes 300+MPH down the track? Even if it is just in a straight line, they have to keep the car straight.

ALL racing is about tuning and driver skill. If you don't like a certain style of racing that's fine, but knock it by saying that's not real racing.

Tuning ISN'T EVERYTHING dude. You think you'd beat an experienced pro around the Green Hell in the same car but with better tune? Really? Well, you're wrong.
But I wasn't really talking about F1. I'm not trolling, honest, but it's funny how much people defend something when they hear a different point of view. LOL. ''Drag'' racing... even sounds ****. How do people watch it on TV? I'm serious..

You have never raced in your life! Managing your car settings makes the difference. What about NASCAR where all cars are equal you still think tuning is not important. Car set ups make the difference between winning and losing. Think about Team Nissan GT Academy winners, you think that some still "green" racers got third place on skill alone. Car tuning helped out there, not that they are bad racers. There were more skilled racers out there that they beat.

So if tuning is not everything "DUDE" how did they win? By what your saying 4 still new to racing (mind you they have not raced at these level before) had better skills than racers doing it longer. I think not.

Lolwut? Please, take any car you want, fully build it, and go into a 1/4m lobby. Watch how the other car of the same sort will finish before you're even halfway down the track. Drag racing does take knowledge to tune. It's no different than any other racing, even running is racing in this context. You're tuning to gain even .001 of a second if you can, and that .001 of a second may be the difference between a loss and a win. And please watch an onboard of a top fuel dragster or funny car. They are the quickest accelerating vehicles in the world. The world's fastest planes don't even gain speed as fast and top fuel cars do. This is coming from a diehard F1 fan, who simply has an understanding and appreciation for all racing instead of ignorance for anything they seem "different".
