Actually the desert was apparantly on the left. And the part that was cut from the top wasn't much at all. Just a couple of roads. The desert was there though. Where there is less roads and more open space on the West was the Desert.
Are you sure it only shows the main roads? Because even with just those roads there are plenty roads to make a city. I think they show every road, though I could be wrong.
The woman in the Cabin lives in the Country, not the Desert.
I'm not sure about that place in the desert. Definately looks like something special. Maybe a large mansion/ranch area? I don't know. It may be the airport, too, but that looks like it's in the city. We will find out once Rockstar update that main site with Las Venturas.

The weird thing is about that Las Venturas leaked map, is they spelt it "Las Venturra". I'm thinking the word "Las Venturra" was written by one of the sites that made the leaked map, of course.
I want to see what the gangs in Las Venturas are alot. Mafia (Salvatore is in San Andreas, and I'm 95% sure he would be in Las Venturas), maybe? Russians were mentioned in a very early San Andreas article. More homeboy gangs? Japanese? This is what I'm most waiting for.
Yeah good point not sure about the name your probably right, my theory was that it was released on a non english speaking site, so then it was translated thats what it meant. But names don't get changed into different languages so yeah there goes that theory.
Also i think the russians( if there in the game) will probably be running a casino.
Did you also notice that Las Venturas was quite large!. With lots of parralell running streets. I believe this is quite accurate to the real city.
I believe Mafia, Russians and Yakuza will be in Las Ventruas. I think homeboy gangs will be sparse at best in Las Venturas.
Also the names can be changed in different languages, for example the country Austria is called Österriech in German. So I think that theory is probably correct.
Plus the Casino/s owned by Avery Carrignton (I assume because of the big neon Avery) and the one CJ will own. There will be a hell of alot of Casinos, I asume you will be able to go inside most of them aswell. Also, I wonder who will own the one with Candy Suxxx on it, maybe CJ will buy it (he has posters of her inside his mums house).
Who knows what CJ owns. Maybe he can choose to buy numerous Casinos? Maybe Donald Love co-runs the Casino with Avery or something...? All of the Las Venturas stuff is hard to predict without enough screenshots, IGN/GameSpot Reports and sufficient information.

I would asume there will be many Casinos Las Venturas is quite large as i previously stated. Its gonna be sooo ****in phat, sorry i get over excited sometimes!
Ive just had a quick glance at the official site and the Las Venturas map(which is better than i thought it would be) and it looks like the people who said the airport was in the middle were those "cross roads" were are correct that is where the airport is. And the place were i said an area 51 place was is labelled "no fly zone" looks like i may be correct, Oh and there is a military base here like many people predicted.
