Why does a roll over on a circuit mean game over? That's a pretty broad comment to make regarding the laws of physics.

Not just the laws of physics, but the strength of the car.

But it should be mostly game over depending on what speeds a person drives. Most cars in GT5 will be street cars, even with roll bars, the will not survive a 50MPH roll over.. Sure some Rally cars survive, but they are going slow speeds when rolling over, and they get lucky.

Surely the strenth of the car is determined by and subject to the laws of physics. But let's talk about car strenth, is a rally car stronger than a Touring car? Well that's subjective some might be other might not be depending on what two cars you compare, both may b built for racing in different evironments and on different surfaces, but both have a full roll cage that will prevent the roof from collapsing. The fact is not every car that rolls on a circuit is busted to the point of retiring from the race. Actually a hell of a lot of them are capable of continuing. There are two main factors to why cars don't continue in circuit racing, the first is the rules. In many forms of road racing if a car rolls then regardless of if it's still capable of being driven, the health and safetly rules prevent the driving from continuing in the car. Secondly, the speed of the roll, most rolls you'll see on race car crash videos will be the hiher speed stuff. Thoes will wreak the car, but not because the car is taking part in a road race, but because it's going faster than you see rally cars going when they roll. If you see a rally car roll at high speed, guess what, the cars wrecked. Generally. If the car is wrecked or not is more about the speed of the roll. Obviousely rolling on tarmac will damage the car more than rolling on grass, but you don't see many cars rolling on tarmac. Most rolls in road races happen when the car goes off the track. The laws of physics say that a car car can roll in a road race and continue, that's notblanket, that doesn't mean they all can, it just means that it's possible. The health and safet people more often than not say a car can't continue even if it's relatively undamaged.

The speed at the time of the roll ie impact with the ground/whayever object/s it hits is the primary deciding factor on how damaged a car will be when rolling.

You have all the right to say that....because i didn't not expain why...it has nothing to do with the laws of physics or the strength of the cars...but with the rules in a circuit race.....a car less competitive in circuit even after a small crash (much more after a rollover if is still drivable) is a matter of safety....

Thats why i said rally cars have the advantage to continue if they still drivable... because they are racing alone.

I think it's a common cense....

(sorry for my english there not the best...this is why i didn't expain what i mean in the first place)

Shidapu you're English is fine, I simply made the wrong assumption of what you meant, apologies 👍.

Why not put all realisme in option ?
The player who's want to drive with all realisme race (Rollover, full damages, flag ect...) go on online full realisme race, and the player who's need normal/médium race without damage, flag ect go in other online race way.

Put all possibles gameplay options is the way for every body.

Don't forget NASCAR. Their rules say you may continue the race, no matter the car condition, unless it's either way off the pace, or parts of debris are constantly coming off it.

Back in 199_ (I don't remember) Dale Earnhardt flipped his car at Daytona at over 190 mph and he finished the race, with almost nothing left of the car.

I remember Martin Truex Jr. flipping his car in 04(?) and finishing the race at Homestead

Fixing the car if it can get back to the pits by itself seems to be quite common in endurance racing.

I doubt we will see the cars lie there pitifully after they have rolled over. To be honest, roll over is something I am really only interested in for the rally driving modes.

I am betting that during races, cars that roll over will be automatically righted and put back on the middle of the track, probably blinking a couple of times in that familiar 'you screwed up and the video game is fixing you and you have no control over this 3 or 4 second process' kind of way.

Honestly, though, if you want roll over to end your race (as it really ought to) in a realistic manner, there is an easy fix. After you roll over, just press start, then press 'restart race' or 'quit'.

Edit: my prediction applies to road cars. I have no idea how they'll handle it in Nascar and rally, but I am hoping for something besides the standard "small delay, back to middle of track and righted" strategy.

Once your car is on its back, it should be game over.

I also think production cars won't flip. I think that's reserved for the cars that can take more damage a la Rally, NASCAR, etc.

i just want crashes and rollovers like in GRID... spectacular.

I don't want to have to pay millions of credits afterwards, though, to straighten the car out. Especially if I dont' have millions of credits to spend.

Would definitely be game-over if you went into the red trying to fix your car.

I like the way FOrza did it... money is taken from you from the winnings of your race. If you can't finish, you simply don't get anything. If you can finish but your car is recked, you get less but do get something.

I think rollover and spectacular damages will be very nice and amazing for photo mod and replay mod. I m for it in option.
