best clean save so far has ..
31.148 / 1.00.354 / 1.24.596
23.254 / 52.585 / 1.16.885

It seems we're close again, Ron :sly:

Niels, what’s your fastest T1 split? I’m traveling flat-out all the way until the first braking point leading to the tight S section. Then I get back on the gas hard and never let off around the entire right hand corner approaching T1. I backed off the gas there at first. I’ve been under 23 seconds @ T1 twice. I set the gears up so that I shift form second to 3rd in the middle of the right turn. The brief shift delay that occurs enables me to turn sharply with less sliding.

Swift times Hugo and Ron.

. . I’ll be with you guys shortly.

Thanks for trying to help out Jake.

My fastest T1 is 23.5. On the running laps, I lift a little aiming to go through the first left bend. I guessed from your other guys T1, that you were taking it flat out. I've been trying it a few times, but find it very risky (fastest 23.4, but haven't done it successfully it so many times ). If we were doing a hotlap I would do it, but due to my lack of consistency I don't wanna take that risk, when I (at last) have done a good first lap.

As for the S-section before T1. I take it the same way, when I succeed. Just a little lift to correct there easily brings my T1 up to 23.7-23.9. Gearing is the same for me. But I'm kind of a setting illiterate, so my gears are simply the tranny trick with the final at 3.370.

Tried out your suggested setup improvements last night. I found the car to respond faster giving huge benefits at the above S-section and the first right after T2, but also a bit more "slidey" on some of the more "open" bends. Overall making it less stable and harder to drive. Haven't really concluded on it yet. But no easy time reduction, that's for sure. ;)

EDIT: Lift in the first left bend, of course.

I don’t know if my values are beneficial for all the contenders. There is a risk factor if you’re not positioned ideally to take the right turn full blast. I know what you mean when you say “slidey” tho. Stability seems to be higher when the car is lower to the ground.

Oh, I see you also lift in the first left bend as well.

Is that camber? I tried your sets on the focus but they seemed really slow . It seems like everyone is going to use the Focus, so I'm going to go with the Delta 👍.

These sets were posted for Ron, so he would slow down :D
Jake posted his settings, and Ron went a lot faster with those settings. Afterwards Jake posted these useless settings, hoping Ron to copy them :sly:

I'm so gonna try those... /me runs off to PS2

... this and the WRS 100... too many things to decide on!!

Not everyone. I'm in the Delta too. 👍

Thought so ;). They just looked so incredible rediculous I had to try them :sly:.

Good to see another Delta guy 👍. I've found it over a second faster from my runs in the Focus .

Is there that much of a diff in cars... my T3 is like... 1'19.xxx in the Subie Prototype... or am I just that slow :indiff:

I'll go run some races... I love Subaru too much for my own good, almost as much as Toyota... maybe I'll try the Corolla out :dopey:

OMG! hahaha. . I fell over reading. . . tears. .

I'm sorry man :dopey: thought it was obvious. . they were for Ron 👍

guess they didn’t work eh. . be real funny if they did

Gave it a try tonight.
In the Xsara first, 1'36 / 1'24 : discarded.
Then in the Delta, Impreza proto, Focus, 206, with nothing better than 1'28 / 1'21.
I'll try otherbrother's settings, perhaps they'll give me a clue on how to run a sub 1'20 second lap.

I was actually slower with otherbrother's settings : the front end of the car looks glued to the track while the rear end just tries to follow and the car goes spinning too often when I hit the rumble strip.
I changed cars, I changed settings, but I keep running 1'28s and 1'21s whatever I do. I should change the driver  .
There must be something I never understood about the track, I probably brake a few more times than necessary.

So my best (hard to call it 'best') clean race is submitted :
Lap 1 : 32.312 / 1'03.225 / 1'28.910
Lap 2 : 24.927 / 55.300 / 1'20.726

This may or may not be an obvious question. . Flat-out , do you check to see if you have T8 tires on your cars?

Yeah, that's the first thing that comes to mind, but I bought the T8s just before doing the oil change for each car... They used to be automatically installed, so I didn't actually check in the parts selection screen. (I'll check that tonight however).
I guess I'm just incredibly slow on this track...
Since I'm also slow on dirt tracks, I think nobody has to worry about last position... I'll be there at least on 3 of all 4 races.

flat-out

Hello Cyril.I have the same problems all week.
But I have still some time left to improve.

I double-checked tonight and I'm running on T8.
The car is not broken in yet (only 50 km), perhaps that counts for 3 or 4 seconds on the total race time. For the rest, I don't know where I'm losing that much time : there is no tricky part on the track, it's just fast and flowing...
I'll see on your replays.
BTW, I won't keep my car secret since I'll be eating dust most of the time : since I had similar times with all 4 cars I tried (except the Xsara which was slower) I selected the one I had the best feeling with, the Focus.
If somebody needed evidence that the Focus can also be slow ;)

So Mr P, since my time is over for this week, I confirm my submission. Sorry.

Oh, If you bought your car and didn’t put much mileage on it, you can bet you’ll be near 2 seconds off per lap. . especially for these slower cars. I use cars I won in Rally events.

Thats ok flat-out np 👍

As it was ... I had just finished running a few laps in free run and have a ghost here anyway! as I promised, it's not my fastest ever! but it's good for tips I reckon.
So I will post it still, as it has no other purpose being on my desktop now .. you never know it might just get you itching for another lap or 2 ;)

Ok guys cya's for the Results on Saturday morning GMT and the Race 2 thread also 👍

What time precisely does this end?

22.00hrs GMT Friday 21st January 👍

Alright thanks, I couldn't find it on the first post . I'm hoping to improve by at least a second by then 👍.

After a couple of days with a lot of racing I finally managed to cut off a little:

31.611 / 1'01.143 / 1'15.679
23.929 / 53.762 / 1'18.313

Bad second lap, but I saved it with hitting the last turn perfect (yeah, right  ).

From my splits I can see, that I leave lots of time out there, but there's so many crucial areas on the this track, and hitting everyone perfect in 2 laps, is beyond my current skill level.

Thanks Ron. It's too late for this race (away from home and didn't bring my PS2 along since I had to ghost to catch up with), but I'll look carefully at your replay anyway. I can use what I'll learn for ARC 4 ;) or WRS123...

As for all 8 rally cars, I made sure they were not hybrids (never know) by inserting them back again 'brand new' in my garage with MK's garage editor. So all of them have no mileage at all. I'll have to break the Focus (now that I chose it) in before week 2 starts and save the game when I reached 300 km.

See you next week on the dirt then.

Did some settings adjustements today, and went to a 5 gear setup and managed to bring my time down by about .5. Based on my best laps, I lost over 1.5 sec in the full time though. Best T3 on the first lap has been 1:24.9, but blew it on the second lap.

Time sent.

A pretty bad time at that but that is the way it goes sometimes.

Good luck everyone and see you all next week. 👍

Fun Combo!

Time sent in.

Thanks for the great reading everyone. Looking forward to next week!

Later,
Dak

Time submitted. No further improvements.

Great fun, Ron. 👍 Looking forward to the next race. :D
