Note: 3 touch rule has been modified to comply with the series rules.A restart is required if contact would cause enough damage to warrant a pit stop for repairs in a real car. Please keep the wall hits to a absolute minimum.

The 3 touch rule has been changed to fit the overall series rules. The driving rules we now have in place are sufficient enough to cover any intentional wall-riding and demolition derby style driving.Longer races warrant a certain amount of common sense that needs to be applied. If however a replay we see has a pattern of continual wall contacts in the attempt to gain an advantage the run will not be accepted.

So we're running htis as a stock car (assuming it's the one won from Rally), with the only addition being a stage 2 turbo?

AO

Yeah use the T5 tyres it comes with ;)

You ready for this one Alex? :D

Cote is near tops as my favorite track. In nearly 15 months of playing, I don't think I've ever taken the Ford out for a run. Much less mounted on T5 tires...

I'm guessing that tire wear management is key in this race. At least I don't have to tinker with the settings :) For either race in that matter.

AO

Yeah, this should be pretty straight forward. Probably have to pit after 5 laps, but, that might change. We will have to iron out a pit strategy based on the excessive tire wear that Monaco can cause. Looking forward to running this one with you Alex.

Pit stops are allowed? with T5's and easy on teh tires, there might be a way to run 10 laps... I'll know more after tonight.

Well, I'm running some laps here and there is no way were going to get 10 laps out of those T5's. I've been pitting at the end of lap 5 to get some fresh tires put on. I still manage to maintain a first place position in the race even after the pit. This is good as we wont have to deal with the AI pack anymore.

Running a 16'25.509 in a 'race' But this is only my second attempt at it.
Running 1'35.255 as a best in 'free run' mode. With 1'36's and low 1'37's in 'race' mode.

Well...I took my first runs at this last night. My first run at the blue beach in a month or so, and first time ever in the Escort.

i was very surprised at how nimble the Escort was. and very reactive to inputs. I've recently been hammering an RGT around Deep Forest (battling understeer) and the Escort was refrieshing to drive. I have a feeling I'll enjoy this one. My third lap was clean, and a 1'38 range. So I've got some time to chip off, but I haven't had much practice with the car or the track.

I haven't run the race yet, as I need a bit more practice with the car and the track.

AO

How you doing here Alex? Did those replays help out a bit?
I'm really liking the Escort as well. It's a nimble little car as you said plus it's stunning good looks spur me on a bit! I'm liking this car alot!

Last night was pleasently occupied with the missus. haven't gotten much time with her lately, so I cooked up a steak and eggs dinner, and we ate under candlelight. I've always wondered how do you make hollandaise sauce?

The Ford is a fun little beast. hopefully I'll get a fewlaps in tonight both this and the Ruf in Rome.

BTW, did you get that e-mail I sent you? Concerning the storage of replays?

Thanks,
Till later,
AO

Boom, Are yo ustill using the same settings as in the replay? Any other pointers you've got?

Thanks,
Till later,
AO

I might give this one a try tomorrow! coz 5, 6, & 7 I'm useless at :D

Hey, Alex!

I've done some setting changes in that car. I was fiddling around with the Escort the other night and was able to cut about another second off my lap times with this set up. As soon as I get home tonight, I'll get those settings up for you.

This one has been a right miserable bear. I've had such issues trying to simply slip by the AI at the beginning. In fact, staying ahead of hte AI has been nearly as bad. I'm a touch better at that, as traffic free driving is less strenuous. In fact, while fighting through traffic, I've been rear ended so many times... (that just sounds like I'm purporting a lifestyle change ;) )

In perhaps 50 starts, I've managed to get by the AI 20 times in the first lap (every time I've had AI initiated contact). In those twenty starts I've managed one win. And that one has three wall incidents, all my fault. It is attached, but I'll note that I don't believe it's legal. I've got tonight and Wednesday night (and possibly Friday night/Saturday Morning) to work on a cleaner run.

I'll rework to your settings posted above, if you can explain the gear trick. As it stands, I'm still 30 seconds off your previous time (the replay you e-mailed me).

Thanks,

Till later

Gear trick is this....

Move final all the way to end ( max) then move auto down to min then put the final down to the number Boom has stated and voilla! gears are done;)
good luck Alex :)

Alex, I'm having a bit of trouble getting readjusted to this car as well. Especially after running the F1 through the exact same course. My previous feelings of this Escort being a nimble machine are being overshadowed by the nervous twitchiness of that F1.

Boom did you review the replay above? How close am I to getting an acceptable run?

I'll be back tomorrow morning with a legal one, that is hopefully faster than that one.

AO

I didn't get the chance to run this last night, as a bout with food poisoning rendered me useless. I've still got Wednesday and Firday night, so I'm still on the mark.

AO

I still feel like I'm having some issues with this car. I clocked a time of 16'14 a while back and last night after spending a few hours in the Escort, I was unable to improve upon that time. I've experimented with many different set up's but none have really suited me. My best efforts last night were about 4 seconds off the 16'14 pace. Don't know what to do really.

How ya feeling Alex? Food poisioning huh, it wasn't me. :D

I've made my best effort at this, and come up way short. My best time to date is a 16'46. Unfortunately, there were nearly 8 Wall knocks. THe cleanest I have to date is a 17'05

Many times I came in under that only to be shoved by an AI into a wall. I've clocked well over 400 miles in running this, and have not been able to keep it clean.

So I'll post up my best lap to date and hope for a few Dis Qual's.

This series has taught me a few things. One: It's time to invest in a wheel. Two: Some of these guys are too good. I'm simply amazed that Mr. Holland got knocked out of the top spot. TO see Mr. P just barely scrape the top ten...

IT'll be a bit before I'll be ready for another attempt on this scale.

i can hit 1:35.5 in free run, might be able to get it in the race. do you want to trade with me, der? have you watched boom's replay?

That's a pretty good run there T. Unfortunately, I've already PM'd my time into the GTNAdmins.

I've had a few good laps come in that range in free run as well. Posting a fast lap in Free Run was not a problem. Battling the AI was the problem.

I've seen less rear-end collisions in Boston Commuter traffic than I did in the races I've run here. The secret as Boom' told me was to slip by the AI before the first corner. I'm not sure how he managed that, as the best I could manage was to make second place (still getting shoved by the AI) on the way up the hill. WHile I had considerably more low end acceleration, they had significantly higher top ends.

Sorry Talentless, I'm already on the boards for this one.

AO

ok. my head is bothering me anyway.
