And that's actually awesome. The AI go nuts with the slipstream. Sometimes they are dumb, sometimes they are evil.

Yes. Going stock vs stock, in a straight line, is a bit tense and mirror focused because of the drafting.

i tried it online, and wasnt happy about it. it was really boring.

I can't say that I had the best of times racing on it, however the slipstream aspect was interesting and I did like the banked turn and scenery. The Speed Test addition is fantastic, and unless you play online, it is for all practical purposes the only option for running your car from a standstill start (outside of crashing :)).

I don't think I'd run another race on it, as I really enjoy turning a great deal more than drafting (not meant as a poke at anyone), but it would be nice for taking leisurely drives in various cars. If only PD would release another short & twisty track like the Autumn Ring / Autumn Ring Mini, it's always been a lovely little car playground.

If this is what GT fans wanted....the future games are in trouble. People knocked Nascar for oval racing but love this new track that requires no skill at all. What gives?

The reason I like it is because it's just good fun, I really like proper racing on tracks like spa but it's just nice to have some change, heck I even went through a online NASCAR stage which definitely gave some good hours of fun.

ok simple... dont race the track then

I won't, but see below.

Come on guys. You wanted Test Course back, and you got one on steroids! Like a similar arguement I had in another thread, if you don't like the idea of paying for it, don't! Also makes no sense that you get something you want but you don't want to pay for it. :ouch:

I dont know why people think that this track sucks. You have to respect tracks that have 8-mile straights. I finally 'truely' maxxed my un-tuned X2011 Proto at 299.1MPH thanks to the speed test.
Every track has it's beneficts, like any car does. You just have to find them. With the Route X track, it's top-speed racing, drafting your way up to the podium. Stop hating the track for what it isnt, love it for what it is.

To you and everyone else telling us (again) to stop posting negative comments may I remind you the last line of the OP:

.

Has route x made online even more fun for you?

He was asking for opinion on the track, that is what we have given. I really am sick and tired of the same old defenses from the same people whenever something negative is said.

Its a handy track to have. Definitely not the greatest racing track but the testing stuff is great and its a nice lazy scenic drive i guess.

Thats a bit of a stretch. Dont worry.

Is the AI now decent, considering its a straight line.

It's okay in the straight line, however they go a lot slower trough the corners.

Didn't one of the press releases describe the corners as being banked enough that they could be taken at full speed?

I was instantly bored with it. The Nürburgring is fun.

The biggest flaw in GT5 is the AI. They go way too slow for the turns. I believe that is the reason there are no seasonal or A-Spec races with a grid start. The race would be over after the first turn. I really wish they would make offline races more exciting.

+1

People saying this is something new obviously don't understand that you can do the same thing at Daytona...just not in the X2010. Actually, if you pick the right performance points and tires, you can race flat out on just about any track in the game.

I'm fine with people enjoying this track, but GT5 is supposed to be the "real driving simulator" and the hours they spent creating this track would have been better spent modeling a real-world circuit. This track, as well as the X2010, belongs in a NFS title, not Gran Turismo.

The pricing is also way off. EA gives you 6 tracks and 13 cars for $10 (NFS Legends pack). PD gives you one track with 2 turns and 4 cars for $10? Seriously? :dunce:

Route X for racing might make sense if PD will include an X20xx variation with ~2500 hp, designed mainly for top speed rather than downforce. With such a car, people will have to brake before the long banked corners, and speeds greater than 600 Km/h without slipstreaming might be possible.

Please not another X2012 or something, although I agree that something purposedly build for these kind of tracks (where cornering ability isn't that important but straight line speed is) should be a welcome and usefull addition.
Not one of those jet-powered Bonneville land speed record machines perhaps (as it needs to at least be able to take 2 corners) but maybe something like these vintage beauties from Mercedes, Auto-Union and Fiat (:D).

Or just bring back the Auto-Union from GT4, if a 'fantasy car' with about 2500-3000 bhp would be created for this track like the X2010 was created for tracks with corners than I think it shouldn't be based on the X2010/2011 concept but maybe something completely new, designed by another designer even.
But there are plenty of real recordcars, past and current ones, which would do that job too I guess.

It is an awesome addition. 👍
The speed testing is great fun. I was surprised that I managed to get my Bugatti past 295mph...

I like it, because its one of the most beautiful tracks in game, and it's REALLY fun to race Le Mans cars on. 👍 PD, now all we need is some weather conditions, would love racing in the rain, or snow there.

When Spa first came out, people who didn't purchase it yet were allowed to "mooch" online by racing against a host who had bought it. Now, for those who haven't purchased Spa, they can no longer "mooch." I'm just wondering if there is a window that PD allows for people who haven't bought the DLC to try the track online? Is there anyone out there who has raced at Route X without purchasing the track?

Someone should try to draft 16 mascara at a time on it haha

You can drive it without purchasing it, I joined a lobby in the US when it came out before it did in the uk :)

The track layout seemed depressing but it looks amazing. Great for online and close battles for sure.

Good to see many people like this track, but for us who like to use our steering wheels to something else than rest our hands on we would need something else than a oval. I've tested this track a few times and to be honest with you, I don't think I will go back there. I even found it boring with the x1 at 520km/h, I like that we got the speed test track since so many people wanted it. But I must argue that all we need is weather condition for this track.
It's a test track for speed and acceleration. Not so much for grip, so why would you need a slippery track anyway?

I really hope PD is done putting time into a test track, I hope they put time in giving the rest of us more tracks were we can use our steering wheels to something useful ;)

they robbed us all millions with this track , just think about it , its not really that special ,the background is nice and it has day / night effect but its just wrong that they charged us for a test course.

the sad part is i couldnt wait to buy it

Bought the track and test it out once but never did finish even one side of the oval track. Never went back since then.

I should think most would not purchase it looking at the track layout  It should be free so everyone who bought the game can enjoy it. It is great for those who think GT5 is boring you can get photo finish on this track.

I don't think GT5 is boring, but this track is. You can have photo finishes at every race track. Just have two similar good racers and even cars and it will be a lot more of a race than a slipstream war that will go on at this track.

I used to think it was boring but then I raced it online. Have you?

I definately don't regret spending my money buying the track. :)

Yep, I had a very fun race night last night. Cars with around 580hp really give very close racing as does most other hp limits, but I find that the lower hp=more fun :)

Because Route X is more fun than daytona etc, bearing in mind there are thousands upon thousands upon thousands of GT players that would humiliate you on the nornal race tracks, i think its fair everyone should be able to have a little fun.

Basically this.

good for you. personally i thought it was a joke when i read track description. rather than this nonesense i would rather they add some cool tracks in the DLC release schedule. seriously there are so many i want

i hope the next track is not a 10,000 km straight :scared:

glad that some of you are happy, but i will pass without any second thoughts/regrets on this track
