Track: Midfield

Welcome to the RUF Grand Prix @ Midfield. My Ruf RGT is maxed out. So If you wanna stay withing the Compitition. I would Power up yours to the max. The Winner will Be PMed on January 10th.
Good Luck and Have a Good Race.:D

I'm in on this!! I think. Let me run a few laps and see how it feels. I guess you want a PM with my time and/or a replay from sharkport?

I might be in. I have very little experience with RR's. I might join just to beat thinkers again!:p j/k:p

My RGT is a handful. But I think I'm pretty fast.I'm not going to let NASCARnut shoot me down twice in a row!Let's get it on.

Horsepower without control is worthless
My RGT is almost worthless. It drifts much more than it grips.

Hey, can you give me a hint as to what kind of times your turning? I'll give you a hint. They're between 1.00 and 1.03. If your's are faster than this, let me know!!:boggled: :scared:

Ive been Playing 007: nightfire. Ive Totally forgot about this. Before Ive rented 007 I think I did about 1:00.

Yep, I'm in the 1:00 to 1:03 ballpark.I'll most likley PM my time to Josh7058 on weds.I told you it was a handful! It sure doesn't handle like a real life Porsche.Sometimes when you try to push the envelope with this car you end up in the wall, very unforgiving!! See ya on the podium!

I threw some wuick runs at this over the weekend, and came up with a run in the low 1'01 range. It was quite sloppy, but legal. I'll surmise that a run below the 1 minute barrier is very possible.

That's that aim for the week.

My RGT has a severe push on the long left-hander. If I could get rid of the push, I could make up some valuable time.

So does mine. I've recently been trying a drift type of line through that turn.I'm still looking for the fastest way around.:banghead: :banghead:

I just found a pretty fast way through, but I'm not going to tell you!:p I predict Der Alta's going to cream us all!

Predictions are just predictions. I'll do everything in my power to atribute to someone else improving their time. I'll have a chance in the next few days to run this again. After which I'll post an indepth analysis of my run (including settings), accompanied by a replay.

With a heavily powered RR car, understeer can rear it's head unexpectedly with disatrous results. The key to beating this is knowing exactly when it will pop-up and what you can do to narrowly avert this. A slight (but not full) drop in accelerator will allow the front tires to regain some traction, and let the weight of the car settle evenly onto all four tires.

More to come.

Till later,
AO

Yes, DER ALTA is going to cream us all. He is one of the guru's of GT3. But he will tell us the fastest way around the track. I'm very interested in seeing his settings and his replay. He's helped me out before.

Me want!, me want!!:D

I'll try to convince the wife to give me some free time tonight. Tomorrow...

AO

had run a 1:01.29* last year some time have finally eclipsed that mark today
ran a 37.5 T2 time full time to follow after the close of the race
cheers

Well, to my wife's dismay, I did indeed manage a few runs around the track. A few things of note.

First I'm only slightly behind Bollocks in this run. Due to being exhausted, I couldn't muster the concentration necessary to move my time further.

Second: The car.
Understeer is a problem in this beast. Application of some fundamental tuning characteristics yeilded a reduction in the understeer, but not a complete elimination. Rumble strips can help in this situation. the attachement shows how I set up the car. While some of it goes against real world technique, the set-up reflects use of the rumble strip to turn the car. Braking in a straight line is a must. only a slight touch of the steering while braking is allowable. Any hard input, will result in an extended slide, dropping seconds from your time.

Third: The track.
Knowing that the secret to a fast time is in the rumble strips is key. The first corner needs to be right on the inside rumble strip to stop the understeer into the sand on the outside. You should start this corner in third gear. After the first rumble strip, back up to fourth. The following right left chicane is taken in 5th gear, full throttle. Using hte rumble strips (not the sand) will allow you to do this. You should reach 6th gear not much after the first quadrant. I've been using the overhead signs as braking and cornering points. Due to your speed, braking for the loop into the first tunnel is considerably longer than it appears. You need to clip both rumble strips to take this corner. And have almost no steering input when you hit the little "lift/jump" into the tunnel. The big sweeping left hander...Throttle modulation is the key on this corner. I've had the backend slip out momentarily on this corner. Be vary careful of the inside rumble strip on corner exit. catching this strip will drag the front inside wheel, causing the backend to break free, resulting in a slide across the track into the kitty litter. Approaching the chicane before the hairpin...5th gear, left tires on the rumble strip, down shift and brake as you cross the track...4th gear (slight accel), right tires on teh rumble strip. Brake hard down to second as you enter the hairpin. Back on the accel when you are 40% through the hairpin. The final "uphill, left-right, out of the tunnel chicane" is a tricky one. You need to be way up on the rumble strip, as it is a very steep strip. If you aren't up on it, it will kick you out into the far wall. You'll need two tires in the grass, two on the black bits. full left lock, then a snap back to right for a brief moment. I've been hitting 5th gear partway up the hill to keep the car stable onto the back stretch. I've found that only a brief snap to the right to line the car up over the hill works best. If you hold right full lock, you'll understeer into the leftside barrier.

I'll hopefully have another crack at it tonight, and upload the resulting replay tomorrow.

Okay so what do i hawe to do.....free race around seatle and post here my time yes???

please read the very first post in this thread.

It states the Car (any RUF) and the track (Midfield).

Not very tough to read two sentences, but seems you've done it. You even missed the title of the thread. Which you had to click to get here. Please don't contaminate this thread with useless replies. All you have to do is simply state "Oops, my mistake. I'll grab a RUF and give it a run." in two hours come back and say "wow that was tough, but I did manage a 1'XX.XXX. Thanks for giving me a mark to aim for." Or State "I accidentally posted this in the wrong thread, my apologies."

"He, who does not learn from the past is doomed to repeat it"

midfield that means forward right, can i post time when i go backward??its the same track :)

If you've played for any extent of time, you would know that certain tracks are faster one way over the other.

The reason for this is that corners can be reducing radius corners, set radius corners (circle) or increasing radius turns. Increasing radius turns can be taken faster due to car physics when simultaneously acclerating and cornering.

So...No, you can't post up a Midfield 2 time. No more stupid questions. I'd like to ask for a bit of thought before you post your next question.

Thanks

AO

Actually it beacause your doing it in reverse. The corners are the same, just in reverse and in the other direction. But instead of going downhill your going up.

Up hill or downhill may have an effect, but the start finish line is in the same place.which means after you to get to the bottom/top of the hill you have to go back to the finish line.

So if we look at SSR11, a track with minumum vertical movement, we can see a result that one way is faster than the other. Due in part to a few corners. SSR5 and Grand Valley are the same way.

FP: Glad to have you giving it a run.

I guess that i'm going to be smoked out u r all profis,no good.I guess i better train harder.I tried with ctr2 but no way that car is much better than rgt but the handling is more for test course.....maybe i'll reduce the upgrades and set everything so i can get trough last turn like in 55 then maybe i'll beat u all. ;) Sorry Der Alta with the stupid questions i'm very new in this.

PS:I try my best tonite, tommorow ill post my time and after yours reply,i'll see how i'm doing.OK?

Hey REEBOKER, Try Der Alta's settings and track strategy, you might surprise yourself. Who cares if you don't come in first. The fun is in the competition, and if we all learn something in the process we are all winners!

Great!

I'm looking forward to your run. Take a look a few posts up, and I've posted a few hints that worked out for me. I've also posted my settings. While I may be fast, others are faster than I. There is never amoment when you can't learn something new.

The only way to learn is to try. Not a problem with the question, as long as you asked the question for a reason other than just giving a smart response.

good luck

AO

I tried but without setting which U posted and i got the best 1'09.292 can u explain me what all of the lettes mean (at ur post with settings).

Nice write-up Der Alta;) I got a high 1.00 run. It was just about a perfect lap for me and the closest I've gotten to it was just a tick over a second longer.:banghead:

It seems I get the best times when I take the long left hander just right. I come into the corner about midway and slow down to an uncomfortably slow speed, then dart to the inside while nailing the gas.

Here are my settings...
SR-12/15
RH-75/80
BD-6/6
RBD-6/7
