I was wondering what some of you are using, as far as settings and modifications go, on your RUF's to get:
1. Max Speed
2. Best Handling

Also, I was curious if the over all handling has improved on the RUF's.....I know on GT3 the general theme was understeer (depending if you had the correct tires), from the fact that most Porsches are 4WD.

Also any additional thoughts on RUF

ruf rgt, best car in the game for the price.

It was so fast that your first modifiactions were all in the breaking system

i always set an agressive first 4 gears in my ruf vehicles and a longer 5th and 6th and slightly higher final setting. i find the light weight of the cars is easy to move with these settings. as for handleing, have you tried a slightly negative camber angle? / /--o--\ \ or softer dampeners. (on the front of course)

a phat set of rimz never hurt either 👍

All the Ruf cars are Highly improved and are more like the real thing, A major improvement over all the other GT Rufs as far as performance, Tuneing, Engine sounds etc...

In gt3 all those 4wd where ****ty cars, with ,massive understeer, so i choose an skyline, but that cars back end if tuned to 1030 HP overtook be at EVERY corner, it was just embarrissing.

I recently got a movie from a buddy, it is of a Ruf CTR Yellow Bird on a 6.?? lap of the Nurburgring, in car camera, it is absolutely awesome.

I had seen it before, ages ago and had been trying to get a copy for ages with no luck.

My buddie downloaded it from somewhere on the net but I don't know where !

I can't put it up, it's about 13mb and I don't have a fast connection.

I hope someone can find it and stick it up here, if no one does I'll work something out and find someone with a fast connection !

Apart from the Cayenne, the only 4WD Porsches are the 911s with a "4" or "turbo" in their name. All the rest is RWD, especially the cars tuned to have good track performance like the GT2 and the GT3.

Cheers,

There are two separate files of that video available on the internet, each corresponding to a different lap around the Nürburgring. The lap times were more like 8.xx. Keep in mind that he was not going for the quickest lap, but the most spectacular. Drift driving is slower than Grip driving 👍

Those video captures are from Ruf´s promotional video "Fazination". Driver was Stefan Roser, also known as "Sideways Stefan". He is still Ruf´s test driver and also does driver training for Ruf owners. I´ve also seen him driving for the german TV show AUTO MOTOR UND SPORT TV (easily recognizable by those rapid arm movements and total car control). He is a complete ace!! If you´ve only seen one of the videos, you should look for the second one. Do a Google search for "ruf nurburgring" and you´ll find plenty of sites with the videos.

They weren't, the only AWD Turbos are the 993 and 996 Turbos, or essentially any 911 Turbo after 1995. The earlier 930, and 964 Turbos were RWD. If you want a modern RWD Turbo Porsche you better have deep pockets cause you can only do that in the GT2.

why do all the RUFs look like Porsche-s.......................wtf is Ruf...................porsche..porsche...in GT3 i just took it as Porsche

RUF is simply a tuner company, they add some minor visual enhancements and alot of performance enhancements to Porsche cars. Enough so that the German government considers them a seperate car manufacturer.

God, not this again.

RUF are not simply a tuner company (and you may well get a lot of flak for that).

They are both a manufacturer (of RUF models) and of tuning and performance componants for both Ruf and Porsche models.

Certainly some (mainly older) RUF models could have been considered 'just' modified from a base Porsche model; but the vast majority of RUF's range are just that RUF's and not Porsche's.

In some cases the only remaining Porsche componant in the car is the chassis and in some cases even that has been modified by RUF.

Nope not quite. Ruf is a separate company from Porsche. While they do tune Porsches brought to them by customers, the Rufs you see for sale new are Rufs, not tuned Porsches. I think all that Ruf does is buy the chassis from Porsche and builds everything else in the car from scratch. If I am mistaken I am sure Famine or someone else knowledgable on the subject will correct me.

Edit: Oops too slow. Isn't this the 8,443,092nd time this discussion has happened?

Yup, I was referring to the current models only. Sorry! :indiff:

At least that many times. We need a sticky 'Not sure about RUF, look here and save yourself a lot of grief' thread.

Even then, the majority of people would just ignore it and post again.

What amazes me the most is if you do a google search on 'RUF' the very first site on the list is the official RUF website.

Guess some people just can't be bothered; when will people learn; google is your friend and can stop you needing flame retardant pants.

The RUFs in GT3 wernt all that. 370bhp from the rgt is pony when there are far more powrful porshes available.
In GT3 i wondered why they fitted a steer the car only went straight on.

I love how you argue RUF as not being a tuner.

Lets put it this way, how many years did RUF spend developing each new 911 to modify...none last time I checked. Where would they be if Porsche didn't exist...um, they wouldn't either.

RUF is no different than Nismo or Mazdaspeed. The only difference is lack of factory support. If you are too ignorant to acknowledge this too bad. You can argue whatever you want but this is the base truth. This is the last I'll speak on this.

Ruf does tune, only at a Porsche owner's expense.
The owner brings in his Porsche, and then tuned.

Other than that, they are not a tuner.
Might as well call Strosek a tuner.
Their car is called a Diablo, but and built on a Diablo, but they are not a tuner.

What rock do you live under? "Most" Porsches are RR, a few are MR, there used to be FRs and only a few 911s (turbos) have been AWD. Though most Rufs (RGT, R-turbo) are available in RR or AWD depending on what the owner wants.

Some people never get it about Ruf.

How many times do we need to go over this on here. 2, 4, 137 times?

uggh.

Not to sound harsh or anything...but if you don't know what a Ruf is....just stick to driving your civic or supra.

Didn't the RGT have more then 370 bhp when you fitted the turbo? (I tought it was the most powerful RUF in GT3?)

Yes it went of 1000hp with the stage 4 in GT3. Given the RGT is a NA car I always thought that was silly. I'm glad to see in GT4 you can't pack turbos onto the RGT. It only goes up to 600ps or so with NA upgrades and various engine mods.

But again people, just because you can laod all sorts of stupid power into a car doesn't mean you should. Learn to drive first.
