With each post you further prove that. In the first few years of production there were 500,000 Model T's made. If you check your stats for the '57 Chevy Bel-Air, you will find that there are considerably fewer of them. One year of production versus many years of production for the Model T, DO THE MATH.
Now, how can the Shelby Mustang, powered by a 289 be muscle, and a Mustang powered by a 289, NOT be muscle? You say you thought you'd bring up a decent argument. Yet you go all to pieces, and start flinging insults when

facts that you seem to have ignored. The Flathead Ford was considered a horrible motor...By the people in Chevies and other cars that couldn't catch them. You say it had problems, but you never mentioned what caused them. The Flathead was replaced by the regular OHV motor, because the two central cylinders on each bank of the "V" were siamesed, and that is what limited them. Those two cylinders (per side) prevented things like over-boring the motor. But you can't compare the "Stovebolt" Chevy Inline-6 with the Flathead V-8 for power. How can you call us ignorant when you provide rant, and I provide information? Yes, I like the Mustang. It was the first sporty four-place car to hit the market.
It had the look, the power, and the appeal, when it hit the scene in 1964. It has also outlived all of the other ponycars. There were the unfortunate Mustang II years when, for the most part, the Mustang was nothing more than an overweight Pinto. (Except for the V-8 variants).
Carrol Shelby was not "hired by Ford." He went to Ford with a proposition that had nothing to do with the Mustang, except for Shelby's desire to use the new Ford Small-Block in a little "side project". He did hang around and do a rework of the new Mustang to make it "meaner." He was also very important of another impressive Ford car.
BTW, The Fairlane was not a "Muscle" car either. Unless you are thinking of the Mid-sixties Thunderbolt.
The fifties Fairlanes were merely the coolest cruisers on the planet. My old man had three before I was born. He had a 57, a 58, and when he met my mom a 59. I personally could go for a '57 or '59 Skyliner.
Yes I did say, and I'm truly believing that you were educated about cars by the Amish. Because you know a good bit about cars, but your knowledge is largely wrong, and what there is of it only scratches the surface.
