I've tried the S.Vettel with the DualShock3 controller many, many times now, but I just can't seem to beat it!
I tried beating it with a Driving Force GT wheel at my mates place, and I did a really fast first lap, but I 'aparently' went off the track on the second lap! 👎 I checked the replay afterwards - less then half a wheel off :indiff: hahaha

Does anyone have any tips for beating the S.Vettel Challenge without a DFGT or any other wheel? (Things like traction controll of, ASM on, etc.)

At the moment I'm driving with every driving aid on, and steering thingo on 'mild'.

Thanks!

TCS off, SRF on and ABS at 1. Get Monza out the way first as its the easiest. Just build up confidence with the car and find out where the car can be pushed to the limit on each track

And how long did it take you to do this?
What did you get? Gold, Silver or Bronze?

Do that with a power glove.

It's so bad.

just like a regular controller, except the left controls are switched like Xbox so d pad is down by r 3 and L 3 is top left

Ah ok. I got a HKS racing contriller for Christmas and Im still getting used to it. The thumbwheel is a little too sensitive for the X1, particularly on Suzuka.

Just priced it up and it seems really reasonable. The button layout works for me too. To the OP, sorry for semi hijacking the thread but the controller my esteemed friend is describing might be the way to go.

Haha that's alright mate - I was away from the computer for a while, but you asked the questions I needed to know ;)

How much is one? AUS dollars if possible?

alittle smaller than a ps3 cotroller. has rumble and comes in 4 colors, white, red, blue, green

25.00 at best buy 29.00 at wal-mart

not sure how much in aus $

Yes you can do it with a Ds3. Read one of the other 500 threads about the same thing. Bronze is possible, silver and gold on NĂĽr and Suzuka is close to impossible.

I found one down my neck of the woods for less than ÂŁ15. So pricewise its pretty cheap...

First bit = 👎
Second bit = What can you get?

My main problem is that I either go too slow into the corner and end up going to close to the inside apex, straighten out a bit and then go straight off the track. Either that or I go to fast and go straight off

A good point but who is to say you wouldnt use it exclusively for the whole game? The controller I got hasnt been unplugged since I got it...

Mmmmmm it's just that I've already got two DS3's, and because I'm only a student, I don't get alot of pay :grumpy: most of my money goes to bills, etc.

i have passed monza with DS3, difficult but can be done. took bronze. the other two with a wheel "logitech gt". all bronze. it took me about 12 hours to do it but not in a straight game. Monza is the easiest one, i finally passed it with about 1 sec from silver. i found most difficult the Nur. my advice trust the car as soon as you keep lines it will turn really quick. Also watch the preview video and see how it goes.

That last ones a good idea! Thanks 👍

watch the preview and then try to complete two laps(not necessary very quick but as fast as possible) see how much is the difference between your time and the bronze. after this try to reduce split times. thats what i did.

Sebastian Vettel challenge with DS3 controller what cup can you get and what settings are you using, video link would nice. 👍

When I first unlocked this challenge I went yippee little did I know I would be cursing. :banghead::banghead::banghead: I spent a few hours struggling to get anywhere near 2.14 (nuremb) for bronze trying all settings off skid on abs=1 when it dawned on me that due to the default config of X-accelerate and SQ-Brake this never going to work due to these buttons simply being on/off and not a progressive switch hence why people are able to do this challenge with a wheel without break to much of a sweat. Also the car under braking (abs=1) was scrubbing too much speed and although late breaking can be a good thing it would be better to carry speed and be smooth.

So for now IÂ’ve switched the accelerate to R2 and kept the SQ-brake turned abs=0 all other settings off skid on. Using the R2 allows you to hold an acceleration point and then being able to simply amply more or less, wished I thought of this when I 1st started GT5. After a few rounds IÂ’m now doing 2.17Â’s and just need find 3sec.:scared: Also will try using R1 or L2 for brake.

I personally think the Polyphony Digital devs who ever need a good 🤬 ass kicking for making this unachievable, nowhere on the box does it say you need buy a damn wheel to get gold and as the DS3 controller is stranded equipment with a PS3 gold it should be unachievable with it. Also it would be quite easy for them to set different times for those that use a wheel and those that don’t.

Dont bother, gold is impossible with ds3. unless you are aiming for bronze, then it shouldnt be that hard to do it. I have gold on monza , but the other two just bronze, and after hours of traing i am not even close to gold.

a buddy of mine has been working on it for a week and got his time down to 2.12 where bronze is 2.10 and hes been using the DS3 and is an excellent driver with it.

I tried it with my wheel and still suck at it, and I would like to think im a average driver at least, so the fact that its so difficult for even everage drivers to get the bronze is beyond me.

Got them all bronze on ds3 with x and square controls. Nurnburg took me about 3 hours, monza 1,5 (once I discovered the second lap was gonna be much quicker than the first :( ) and finally suzuka which took about 9 hours to bronze (and a lot of retries :) ).

All I can say is practise is paying off in the end but it just takes a lot of time to get used to the speeds.
