Saints Row

hhmmm... what shell i say....the graphic is nice, but it looa bad copy of gta. i wont buy it, rather i wait til next gta comes out for 360.... :)

I agree this is a game I would rent first. Could be good, could be bad. Im sure it wont compare to GTA overall.

This is a near-definite buy for me; I've been looking forward to this ever since I first heard about it. It's got everything GTA has, and everything I've wanted from GTA but could never have, plus good graphics. I just hope it has the charisma to surpass GTA and make it pick up the game.

You know the PC version of GTA 3 to SA had something called MTA which was an mod. Which allows you to play GTA online.

Yes, I had it for both my PC versions of GTAIII and GTAVC. It was a lot of fun 👍

What I mean by things missing from GTA is stuff like more realistic car physics. I'm a car nut (that's why I'm here ;)) and GTA's driving, while fun, has always been a bit lacking. I've always wished for something like a PGR/GTA hybrid, and I think Saint's Row may be it.

Lemme put it this way; I'm a bit skeptical about the game. Yes, Microsoft Studios has had a solid track-record of making great games, be they knock-offs or not.

...But that does not make this game a must-have for me...

Yes, the graphics look great, and gameplay is probably going to be pretty fun. But, I'm not sure about the whole package. I lost interest in the GTA series only a few hours into San Andreas, so I'm pretty much sick of the genre as a whole.

But, time will tell... Time will tell...

I watched some gameplay footage on this game yesterday and I', amazed how I haven't taken much notice of this game earlier. It looks really good graphically and very GTA like. 👍

Wow, this game looks very good indeed, even at this stage. One hopes that the little faults here and there will be fixed come release and that the game gets just a little bit more finesse but as it stands this will almost certainly be a buy for me.
The graphics are nice indeed, the heat ripple effect when a rocket launcher is fired is cool.
The physics look good too, especially the ragdoll effects when you hit someone with your car, or are thrown out of your own vehicle. The car physics look pretty good but I think a bit more realism would be cool, I very much agree with code_kev that GTA combined with realistic driving physics would be awesome.

O/T - Camaroboy - is that a newer F body interior in your Camaro?
Yes it is. Good eye it is out of a 2002 Trans Am.. Sorry for off topic pic. :sly: Deleted pic since it was off topic.

Just to let everyone know the demo is now available to download from the Marketplace.

Yep, I'm currently playing it.
What I like so far - complete customisation of character; guns sound good (particularly the shotgun), cars can take a fair whack (although if they're indestructable that's not so good)
What I don't like so far - quite a lot of tearing in the graphics, mainly in cutscenes but also when driving; car sounds are poor (but no worse than GTA games); trying too hard to beat GTA at its own game.
Still, I think it could be fun. Very possibly buy it. But with TDU coming out around the same time I may have to rent it.

I'd like to admit the game is a little dissapointing to me. The graphics are good - the explosions and the enviorments. In fact, everything is pretty good-looking. The game just lacks that depth and enthusiasm the GTA series has. It's fun when you mess around, but you don't feel that satisfaction afterwards like you do with GTA. The controls don't help either - I find them quite fiddly, especially when driving, even after a while. If only they could make the triggers the brake/acceleration buttons it would contribute to making them better quite a bit.

Overall, 7.0, maybe even 6.5.

It sort of disappointed me as well. Its too simple and wont drag you in as much as any GTA game would. I like the way the driver flys through the window in a head on collision but I'd say GTA:IV will have the same sort of things. If the full game is like this I wouldnt say it would be as good as GTA or crackdown

I also miss GTA's extreme sillyness. There are so many things in GTA that are just absolutely absurd, and I love all of them. Saint's Row is lacking that feeling!
