This time a UE32F4500.
It turns off every few minutes, about 60 times today, after I've gullably turned it on and on...
I'm guessing yet another case of capacitor failure.

How long have you had it? And does it completely switch off, or just the picture?

Sounds like capacitor failure reading up on it, although many say Samsung will replace them.

As above, how old is it? Hmm, looking up I don't think this model is much older than a couple of years.

Samsung dont use cheap caps in their TVs.
Do you have power issues where you live?
Is the TV connected to a power filter and surge protection device

About a year and yes completely blank, like someone is cutting the power and back etc.

Yep seems so,but could be something else...

I don't have power issues,
Although I have it plugged into a multiple plug socket plug with other things plugged in too,a bit like this:

Have you attempted to plug it directly into the mains? I recall a similar problem with another device and the problem was the fact that it did not like the current in the extension lead for some strange reason.

Where did you buy it?

An exact date would be useful too, as it could make things easier.

Not yet,but will do and report back tomorrow.

I didn't buy it per se,it was from a package deal,about a year ago 18 months maybe.

So was it added to the invoice when you bought this package.

Bought or Won if you got an invoice you can lodge a warranty claim assuming it has more than one year warranty.

Yes it's still under warranty,so all good there.
Tried it in mains and just the same outcome;about every 2 minutes of it being on,it turns off and so forth, weird.

Sorry to hear that man, if it is under the warranty still, you should definitely lodge a claim like @Grayfox says, no point wasting more time on a faulty product!

Here is a question, do you know if the TV is set to store mode and or the TV timer is on?

Use your vacuum cleaner without any attachments and give the vents a good suck. Used to work for my Samsung plasma many years ago.

Failing that it's a case of referring the problem to the party who supplied it to you regardless of whether or not you bought it as part of a package.

Be warned, I had a problem with a TV that was 12 months and 2 weeks purchased that lost all the sound... the law might be on your side but shops are able to make it veeeery difficult, the burden of proof is on you.

Using a vacuum cleaner can cause ESD damage.

Really? I wonder how millions of people ever use one in their living rooms without losing the TV.

Using it on the floor is fine, but sticking it up to the vents draws in air quickly which can create static.

No, that's a myth in the same order as "If you hold in a fart your heart will explode". Hold the nozzle in your hand to earth the device, or use a brush. It's fine. Blowing compressed air causes static too, but then so does simply being a TV.
