Hehe, that name has a nice ring to it. I decided to run around the whole SA map the other day. The idea was born cause I like doing the Triathlon races, those are only available during the weekends and it was only wednesday. I ran off to the Pizza place to stack up on some fat, I didn't want to burn away to much muscle during the run. I figured 20% fat should be about right so I headed towards the bridge in west Santos (Northwest of Santa Maria Beach). I decided to use the it as the starting spot. I would start at Thursday 00.00 and run as close to the edge of the map as it possible then return to the same stop for the finish.

I sprinted off in to the countryside at 00.00 in to what I thought would be a long and uneventful run. My plan didn't include dodging traffic all the way to Fiero. You really get to see just how aweful the highway traffic A.I. really is. There was an accident every few seconds and it only got worse and worse as the number of heavy vehicles started spawning. Trucks kept crashing in to everything. Cars, bikes and other trucks where sliding towards the outside edge and into the ocean, unfortunatly thats where I was running. I was manovering around burning wrecks and freeway projectiles most of the time. I was hoping to get a break from the mayhem cause there was a beach coming up, there didn't seem to be a natural way down to it, but rather a steap cliff so I stayed on the grass along the road. The fog rolled in somewhere around Angel pine and everything got out of hand in the Mt. Chilliad tunnel. Cars came in sliding on their roofs and kept starting off explosions left and right. The whole thing was starting to look like an over the top action flick with really bad drivers.

When I got to the beach that streches for most of Fiero things calmed down. It turned in to a quiet jog along the waterfront. The water is really shallow there so its a perfect place to get your lung capacity up for that Woozie mission.

At the end of day one I hit the Gant bridge, the plan was to use the maintenance planks to get onto the bridge (the same ones you use to getting in to Jizzy's place), they go all the way up, well thats what I used to think and lost about 4 hours backtracking to get on the bridge. When I got to the other side the mountain range along the coast proved to high to climb. I followed it until I could get to the cliffs that run along the coast. Grass truned to sand and I got caught in a sandstorm. Around 15.00 C.J started to get hungry. I ran down the hills towards the little town with the worlds biggest co... chicken. There is a snack machine there, that I use when I'm at the airfield. After the quick snackbreak I headed back north to the hills and then east towards Venturas.

I got there around 20.00. An hour later I started loosing muscles cause I had burned all the fat. At the end of day two I had reached Spinybed north of Venturas. Not much happened here and I crossed the railroad bridge out of Venturas at 9.00

At 12.00 I was back in Los Santos, the docks proved to be a bit messy to get to but I plotted a course on the map and It worked out. There are red cranes alone the edges at the docks, I passed around them to ensure that I didn't take any shortcuts. When day 3 came to an end I was between the airport and Verona beach. At 4.20 I rounded the lighthouse in Santa Maria beach and at 5.44 I crossed the finishline at the bridge.

I had covered 25,971.44 m in 3 days, 5 hours and 44 minutes. It turned out to be more fun that I though it would and I got back in time for a Triathlon. :D

I wouldn't have the patience for that. I'd end up stealing a car half way down the road...

And where are these triathlons you talk about?

One is on the Santa Maria Beach in Los Santos. Only available on Saturdays and Sundays. The other is at Fisher's Lagoon in Palomino Creek, also only available on Saturdays and Sundays.

That's a long run. San Andreas is nice and large. This was a cool run you did. Congratulations.

This is the first real example of San Andreas' size.

Your run spured me on to do a boat run, to map the perimiter of SA. i would go in a rectangle / square around the edge of the land.

It was sunday morning at 5:00am i set off in a squallo. i was in line with the northen end of the gant bridge and it was big waves and high winds. i set off and the boat was at about 30degree angle and jumping fully out of the water then crashing down. at 8:00am there was no storm and the ocean was nice and calm and i also hit the top right of the map, by 10:20am i hit the bottom right and 12:10pm i hit bottom left and 13:53 i was back where i started, unevenful except storm.

Took 8hrs and 53mins (game time) so thats 8min 53seconds real time
Covered 23,124.91 metres.
Avg speed 160kph or 100mph

Now if you think about that. A Squallo taking 8 minutes (real time) to circle the entire map. That's fairly long. Nice run. Someone should set up that race around San Andreas.

if it wasnt stormy for the first bit of the journey could of taken about 40seconds at least off that. Now where was that time of the ngr-500 going around the map on the railway tracks?

Hey, that's a good idea...

I found it took a fair while just to travel from Los Santos Docks to Easter Basin Docks.

I've tried to see if i could swim around the Las Venturas 'island'. I got about a qtr way around (halfway up the right-hand coast line) but the waves buffeted me too much and i had to swim to dry land. Of course, since i'd not unlocked Las Venturas, as soon as i got near land my stars went up to four, and i was a sitting duck!

Waves? Never noticed any waves while swimming, only in boats. And I wouldn't have thought they'd be a problem while swimming...

they get pretty big when off shore in a boat, i was getting the squallo fully out of the water and it was skiming the top of the waves. Its like a mini hurricane/cyclone/typhoon/othernamethatmeansthesamething

Jimmy Enslashay
Yes, but what about swimming? Are they really evident whilst swimming?

I first encountered the waves when swimming between Los Santos and Los Venturas, i was swimming underwater, trying to get my breath-holding ability up, i came up for air when my 'blue bar' was almost 'spent' when i broke the surface i was surounded by these high waves, you have to be careful because your head keeps getting 'dunked' under. I lost alot of my 'red bar' health before i happened across a nice powerboat (i forget its GTA name) just of the bottom right-hand corner of the coast of los Venturas.

What kind of times did people get for the triathlon that starts at the Santa Maria beach? It's not in your stats for some reason but I remember getting 6:44 for it. I was almost caught at the end. My CJs not much of a swimmer or sprinter but he kicked the **** out of the rest of them in the cycle part of the race.

What do you need stats wise to be able to run the iron man event - i keep popping over to the red mission 'halo' near the lighthouse at the end of santa maria beach - but it keeps saying something like 'my **** clocks not ready yet' ???

- i have full muscle, full stamina, no fat, 2/3rds bike skill but only about 1/8th lung capacity.

I dunno, I've got full muscle, about 90% stamina, usually very little fat and very low lung capacity and I could run it no problem. I doubt if lung capacity is anything to do with it, that's only to do with swimming underwater.

Is the red marker only there when the race is available (Saturdays and Sundays)?

Yeah thats the same for me!. I think the key to beating those Trialthalons is to build up a good lead in the cycle event, especially in the Palomino creek event(as the the portion is so long).
Ive tried going to the Gym to increase my running Stamina but don'y know if its worked as my stamina is already max.
Also cant remember my time for the Santa Maria beach event.

This thread shows another example of how you can do anything you want to entertain yourself in this game. You could play this game for years coming up with sooo many cool ideas. I wanted to seee what a fat CJ would look like so I did that over the weekend. Made a fat, skinny, and ripped CJ. I never saw the triathlon so I will have to try that out. What an incredible game GTA:SA turned out to be. 👍 Cool idea with the triathlon. 👍

I explained this before, if you would care to look up on the previous page where you posted. You can only do it when you have all 3 cities unlocked and it is only accessible on a Saturday or Sunday.

I would assume so, as people are complaining that they are getting the message that it's not available on that day, so I would assume they are walking into the Red Marker to get this message.

Also, the only stats that matter for this event with CJ is Muscle and Fat for his speed. Nothing else would matter. Unless you're jumping something on the Bicycle, in that case the Bicycle Skill may play a part, but I don't think so.

All I need to do in the way of personal stats is Lung Capacity. It takes such a long time to increase that stat.

I just tried out the triathalon on the beach. I never new it was there. I got 7:00 minutes exactly. I probably would have gotten a greatly faster time but my fat stat was at 100%.

As for the running around San Andreas, I think that might be pretty neat. I did it both with Vice City and GTA III. I might try it sometime.

And Jimmy, if you collect all of the oysters you get a big lung capacity boost.

9 minutes and 2 seconds. 👍

I tried it in a Bullet with nitrous and it took 9 minutes and 58 seconds.

What else do the Oysters do? Do they give any other rewards?

Also, nice time IntegraGS-R. I think we've proven that San Andreas is big.

I'm pretty sure the oysters also boost your sex appeal.

Just to add: Boating around the perimeter of Vice City in a squallo took me about 4 minutes, and it was roughly 7 miles.

Oh, so they are the only advantages of getting Oysters (apart from going towards 100%)? If they are the only rewards, I might just do them. Thanks.

By the way, this is a little Off-Topic, so don't have a big discussion on it. I just need an answer. Do the Beach Parties still happen? If not, can you re-do that DDR type mission like you can re-do the Lowrider DDR mission?
