Unless you're jumping something on the Bicycle, in that case the Bicycle Skill may play a part, but I don't think so.

I tried to do the one at the fishermans lake or whatever and I got a message saying something like "your cycling skill is too low, you need to get more practice on a bike." I had a little less than half bike skill, maybe like 3/7...

Do the Beach Parties still happen? If not, can you re-do that DDR type mission like you can re-do the Lowrider DDR mission?

You can go into a club anytime and dance, there are different songs and each one gets more difficult. I don't know excatly where any clubs are, but I know there is one somewhere in the gay part of town in SF. I did a couple dances there one time, first one was one of those rap songs by Dre, and then the song that you did for the mission on the beach. I don't think I've tried the third song yet.

How'd you find out those stats?

The same way I did. You compare your distance traveled stats before and after your run. :)

Nice to see that you guys are taking it a step further. I wouldn't mind taking one of the propeller planes for a flight around San Andreas. Love flying low, as long as no tree doesn't pop up from nowhere before me and send me to the closest hospital. ;)

Using the hydra still takes a couple of minutes to get around the city, someone should try it.

Hmm, that would be a decent test...

By the way dori-san, I know about the clubs, I was asking if there were still Beach Parties and if they were re-playable. So could anyone else please answer that? Thanks.

so VC perimiter is 7 miles or 11.2km
SA perimiter is 23km
Each game area is roughly square so that's about 2.75 km each side for Vice City and about 4.75 km each side for San Andreas, giving areas of about 7.5km^2 and 22.5km^2. So very roughly San Andreas is about 3 times the area of Vice City. I would have said it's even bigger, but there you go.

yeah but i think VC is more rectangeular (spelling) and when its a square shape it has the most area possible, when its rectangle even with the same perimeter the area decreases :).

I got my figures wrong. :dunce:

If the perimeter is 23km then the diameter is 5.75km and the area is about 33km^2. So that makes SA about 4.5 times the size of VC.

But those figures are very rough.

yeah but it still shows just how huge SA is, soo much fun

I decided I take a golf cart around San Andreas earlier. I stared directly east of the garage in SF on the coast and drove up north the Gant Bridge. When I got through the desert and into LV I was hit by a car and flipped. I blew up. I was upset. I then killed 150 people.

Who wants to fire up GTA III and measure up it's perimeter to compare?

i was thinking about that. i might give it a go, oh wait i dont think i have all islands unlocked. bugger

It doesn't matter. I think someone did that last time. Officially, Vice City has a larger land area. But GTA 3 is bigger to me. Either way, San Andreas rules all. ;)

yeah i do believe GTA3 feels bigger as its square and has more depth. but for sure SA is the biggest and bestest ever lol

Well, GTA 3 had more roads, more depth and it was spread across 3 decent sized Islands. Vice City was rectangular, very open, less roads (which were wider), and easier to travel through without hassle.

That's why GTA 3 felt bigger.

Same, it was a big disappointment for me. I can't grapple the fact that Vice City is bigger, but Rockstar say it is. They are also only talking in land mass.

yeah, i was dissapointed with the lack of hills and depth in VC, no matter, SA is way better in all areas than GTA 3 and VC.

I definitely felt that Vice City was bigger than Liberty City, but I think we all agree that it lacked a certain character that Liberty City had. It was a bit flat and boring. Liberty City had hills and bridges and flyovers that made it a bit more interesting.

But I think that Rockstar have been reading the internet forums and listening to what the fans have been saying. Flyovers, hills and off-road areas?

Here's all the the freeways, flyovers, hills, mountains, deserts, etc. you can handle! Let's see you get bored with this game!

KM.

i know. its just about everything we wanted in a GTA game. so much to do and explore. and with the record book as well the life span of SA is hundreds and hundreds of hours

Yeah, I said that to Blake one day. I think they have people who just browse through everywhere on the internet, and just gather idea after idea. They must have followed me well, as almost everything I asked for they put in.

same lol, evreything i wanted is put in, im so happy with the races

I agree. When there was speculation about what people wanted in San Andreas, as in a year ago or more, before the recent rash of nonsense requests, there were some commonly requested things across the various popular forums - police bikes, more off road areas, quad bikes, loads of hills, pedal bikes, mod garages, more races, auto-aim assault rifles put back in etc. I don't think it's a coincidence that they put those things into the game.

The only thing I commonly saw requested but wasn't put in were skateboards. I think I heard that Rockstar planned and maybe even designed skateboarding but took it out for some reason. Maybe they just thought it was too much effort (new animations, new vehicle physics, etc.) for something not really worth it in the long run.

KM.

yeah, they seem to have evreything the was commonly requested and not too stupid. thats why its selling so good. Its one of the few game that exceeds expectations

I agree that it wouldn't be worth it at all, and I think Rockstar knew that. But there were other common requests. Ability to change his appearance in any way you want. I know Hairstyle and Clothing were big requests. Tattoos were out of the blue, though. Weight was a bit of a request from some.

People generally requested more of everything, which they obviously played out. Planes was a very big request. Modifying cars I remember some large-ish discussions.

With all this in mind, I just know they have people watching all over the internet. Who knows, they could be watching us right now... :scared:

i hope they are and i hope they give themselves a good pat on the back as this is one of the best if not the best game i have ever ever played.

Yeah thought this aswell, especially when i remember ages ago when people were saying "I hope you can fly the private jets", then a few monthes later, wow you can fly them.

I think it was good they left skateboarding out because if they had gone to the effort of putting in new physics and animations and the like it would have turned out like
"Tony Hawks Pro Grand Theft Auto Underground" or something. And then the Tony Hawk fanboys would have cried because it wasn't as good as THUG.

Incidentally, I did the SA run but didn't have enough stamina and had to jog for sometime. It took 1 hour and 48 minutes.

Now that I think of it, I don't think Skateboards would have been all that bad. I just think Rockstar either didn't have much space left on the disc to do it, or they just could not be bothered going to the lengths of putting it in when they thought it wouldn't be worth it. I actually don't think they put much thought into it if the latter is the case.

If you look at the back of the manual there is a list "of websites we like"...

when i was reading about that stats of the cars deciphered from code on the dvd, one guy just searched for things that weren't in the game.. he found a couple references to skateboards, including the in-game tutorial message on how to use it as a weapon and how to skate on it and a couple other things, i believe... he also found something like "are you sure you wish to install GTA:SA expansion pack" so maybe some of these things that they wanted to be in the game, but didn't have time or whatever are going to be added with an expansion pack later? :)
