Yawn. That was a waste of wear and tear on my VCR.

Pains me to say it, but... well done Michael. He looked really pleased to have his first proper win for a year and a half.

When will Jenson lose his bad luck? Finally staying in touch with the leaders, then one sticking wheel nut and a lollipop screw up ruined his race. In fact, Honda's pitstops for both drivers were pretty terrible (although getting little fuel into Rubens' car isn't their fault).

Good to see Webber scoring again.

Williams have definately lost pace but yeah he did put up a stirling effort in a non manufacturer car. Well done to him (Webber). I hate the Italian director, obviously the button-fisi battle or motoya-massa battle didn't exist to him.

Italian Director?

...of the Italian video footage?

The lolipop incident with Button was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time LOL. I mean, man they got 20 people servicing the car and they still can't get it right.

Derek Daily is right, Imola is a horrible track. There is absolutley nowhere to pass, even if you're 3 seconds a lap quicker you can't pass. The main problem with passing in F1 is the corner speed of the cars and track design. I was really pumped up after seeing the Australia GP, all the passing and everything, but this race IS Formula 1. No passing on track, all the passes happen in the pits. There is a good number of circuits that need to be redesigned to add more passing opportunities. Tracks like Imola with 6 chicanes need a major overhaul

I don't even remember there being a race outside of Schumacher and Alonso. Was there even anyone else on the track outside of those two and Massa?

I also laughed extremely hard with the Jensen incident. I want pictures/video of it.

I know what you mean. I know it was an exciting battle, but it would have been nice to know what else was going on... I'm sure there were exciting battles for position elsewhere.

Awesome race overall though:tup:

ahh F1 relief finally, man that 3 weeks was tough, and for schumi to come in and win for the scuderia ahh again nice.

but then... it was a very laking race, i agree with almost everything said above
- the italian video coverage was pretty laking, even the cbs anouncers were apoligizing for most of the shots
-the lolipop was damn funny, i felt bad for the guys knocked over by it and the lolipop man himself, time to find a new job i fear
- man i loved imola and the race but... there is nothing going on at this track, was there any overtaking???? i mean last year there was, but the only thing i saw was alonso move up one off the start

anyway after this i can kinda wate for nurebergring... kinda

I didn't even see the Button issue, running over one of pit crew members. I was either taking a quick nap at the time or watching some of the NBA Playoffs.

Yeah, that was a great battle at the end, until Alonso kind of lost it.

I was just glad to finally catch a F1 race, surprisingly on CBS.

He didn't run over anybody, but he did knock them on their ass.

The lollipop guy lifted up too soon, for some stupid reason and the fuel hose got ripped from the car. The nozzle was still in the car. About four guys got the knocked to the ground when Button took off and the fuel hose plowed them down.

The funny thing about it was the lollipop guy putting the stick down and tried to stop Button with it once he realized his mistake. He-he.

Totally missed it because I was not all that interested in the race. Ralph Sheehan and Derek Daly did not do a whole lot to keep me interested in the race with their commentary. It didn't help that the track at Imola does not allow for passing. There are just too many freakin' chicanes.

Yeah. Button got Lollipop-mashed. I think honda should invest in mirror-pops before button's face gets pwned again.

I missed it the first time, myself. I took a unscheduled nap during the middle of the race. Good thing I also recorded the race on my HDD-HD recorder. Yeah, the race was that exciting.

Well I didn't record the race, so I completely missed it. I couldn't tell you if I was napping or watching the NBA playoffs, though I could tell you it was one or the other. Seems like I missed one of the better parts of the race . . . 👎

The problem of no passing is not the chicanes' fault. The track is just too damn narrow. Like Monaco, you can't pass even if you want to.

I certainly recall just this last year, passing at Monaco, though not a large number of passing, more than I can recall in all of today's San Marino GP. The track being narrow is not the only problem for passing. The chicanes too have a negative effect on the ability to pass, as they don't allow a driver to stay right on the tail of a higher placed driver, since they need to clean air for the aero to work properly.

It was a horrible mistake by the Head Mechanic. It was only 4 or 5 seconds into the stop. The fueller showed no signs of pulling the hose out, and the lolipop went up. What was he thinking? Upon realising the mistake, he decided the best thing to do would be ram the lolipop into Jensons face. Some practice needed there methinks. Or a new lolipop man. Or a new Chief Mechanic.

Perhaps they need a green light system instead, evertyone hits their button when they're finished.

Anyone got a more technically minded name for the lollipop?

Ha, ha - i did the same on the mid-race nap front. 👍

- You've got to love those un-biased Italian directors! The only other cars i saw from lap 2 onwards were cars that happened to be in the same frame as Schumacher or Massa!

Was it just me napping or were there no overtaking moves at all apart from the first lap or so?

Stop

Go!

STOP!!!

Lollipop up, fuel filler obviously still connected

Too late to put it down now, mate!

Jenson's off, the fuel hose breaks and the fuel left in the nozzle jumps out

Jenson stops down the pitlane with the filler connected (caption competition entry, anyone? ;) )

Mechanic solves the problem

The fueller has a well-earned seat

Nice sequence there, Amp88.

I kid you not, I was watching this race with my in-laws, and they asked, "What's so important about the guy with the stick and the round thing on the end?". Five minutes later, they saw why he's so important!

Thank goodness there were no injuries, and no fire.

OOhhh, I forgot to mention that completely. He is definatley learning from Sato. A most worthy apprentice indeed.

Ide is embarassing himself.

When you're teammates with Takuma Sato, and manage to out-crash him, you do not belong in the sport.

Do you also have a pic of Jenson's face getting pwned? Like, the actual lollipop impact?

Like I said, the only thing honda needs is mirror-pops.

ITV-F1 don't like the term "lollipop" as it doesn't sound "F1" enough. They're inviting alternate suggestions for it.

I suggested "spankstick".

It's not a lollipop, it's a "crew-to-pilot interface device."

I would not object one bit to "spankstick" though.
