2 options, 1 you cant do as your PS3 wont turn on. For this you would hook up both PS3s and connect a ethernet cable to both, in the settings you could do a data transfer and everything from your old ps3 to your new one would be transferred over. But scratch that as your old ps3 wont turn on. Option 2 is swap HDD, for the slim its just a blue screw underneath the PS3, youtube it and you'll find instructions. I did this and put a 1TB HDD in mine. What im not sure off is when a HDD is installed the PS3 has to format it. Now a drive allready formatted should work in thise case, but im not sure if the PS3 even putting in a HDD allready in the right format the PS3 might have to reformat to read the drive, not sure though, btw formatting erases everything on the drive EDIT*** looks like mark has confirmed option 2 to not work, your SOL bro.

Heres a option 3 I thought off. Get a external HDD case for a 2.5 SATA. Its a standard laptop HDD, remove the HDD and put it in a external case, hook up to a computer, copy to a USB stick, the problem I see with this though is GT5 is linked to a PS3 and PSN ID. In which you'll have your ID on your new PS3, but not having that PS3 might be a issue.

Moral of the story is. Back up game data.

I had a mate who had this problem and didnt back it up and had to start all over again.

My advice is, get a mate to put a few cars to online status, do seasonals and stuff. I done that with another account and managed to buy a McLaren MP4-12C in about 45 minutes. Easy stuff
