Hey guys.

I have a serious problem with shift's savegame.

I want to upgrade my 40 gb ps3's hard disk drive, but shift doesn't allows you to backup your savegame. :(

Any tricks, suggestions, whatever known?

I think if you copy the entire 40gb hd onto you new one rather than just backing up the save game, it should still work.

That mess started with the arrival of the trophies.

But others devs do it better: They lock the savegame to your PSN account. So you can easily make a backup and/or transfer it to another console.

Thank you for your answers.

Well, I don't want to buy an external hdd just for copying my Shift-savegame.
So I'm going to wait for the hdd update till GT5 comes out and use Shift for getting it a little cheaper. :)

Greetings

We have multiple PS3's in our house. It's absurd that some devs are too lazy to figure out how to allow copying of gamesaves without manipulating trophies. If I can think of how to do it, why can't they code it...

Its not because they cant figure it out.

Its because EA are a greedy bunch of people who dont care about their customers after they bought their products.

The real reason the copy lock is there, is because they dont want people to be able to drive cars they havent unlocked yet, by copying a mates savegame.

Now people are forced to buy the cars from the store.

Can't you just go to Quick race and drive any car in the game at any time except the reward cars?

You can only drive what you own in Quick Race.

DiRT2, Burnout Paradise, other NFS games offer a "buy them all" package in the store. So, why don't we have that for Shift? Why don't we see individual cars in the store even? Oh, they cost about 2 bucks each (if memory serves me correctly) through the game's "store".

It is locked to your psn account like Killzone2.
backedup for life unless psn servers got damaged :)

I dont think you are talking about the same thing as the topic creator.

The savegame is not stored on PSN.

If your savegame gets corrupt there is no way of retreving it from a backup, the only thing you can do is start the game over.

Unless you have a full backup from using the backup utility on the PS3 system menu.

Thats not what we want, we just want the savegame to be unlocked, so it can be transfered to a USB key.

At least on the XBox 360 version, you can drive all stock cars, plus purchased (and upgraded) cars plus trophy cars in quick race.

Don't recall if this was tied to reaching a certain driver level, but I think not (except for the trophy cars obviously).
