SBK X or SBK 2011?

I've been thinking about buying one of the SBK titles for a while and it just so conveniently happens that Get Games are having a sale on sports games this weekend. Among them are SBK 09, X, 11 and Generations, the former is £5 and the rest are all £10. I think I'm going to go with Generations (this is the PC version, by the way), but is it worth the £5 over 09? Or maybe there's a reason to get both Generations and 09? I'm not sure but there's no P&P so I might just get Generations now and see how I feel about 09 later on.

Yes just get generations and the others later if you have the spare cash. They each have pretty different handling models but generations is the best in my opinion. I've never owned 09 personally but I have a few friends that have it. I've had 08, X, 11 and now Generations. With the older games there won't be any people online to race if you care about that. For me all I do is race online when I play SBK so having the newest game is important to me in that aspect. I like the handling on Generations, but I liked 11 a little better, but it's not much difference from 11.

SBK 09 would've been a beautiful game (the best in fact) had it not been for that terrible brake bias that ruined everything.

I got Generations in the end, I've only played about 10 minutes. So far I'm finding it more difficult to control than DCS World! I don't know how you guys have your controls set up (do you use 360 controllers (if you're playing the PC version)?) but it's tricky to use both brakes at once and lean in two directions (as in, left/right and forward/backward). I just need some practice, I thought maybe I should start off with the simulation mode set to beginner but then thought the best way to learn is to keep falling over until I learn how to not, full sim all the way!

Yes, it takes some time to learn for sure. In Generations you don't really need to worry about the rear brake though if it makes things easier for you. It hardly does anything anyway. When I made my review I ran the the Losail start/finish straight holding the rear brake all the way through and compared with running normally and the difference was a few km/h off top speed.

Usually it's good for maximising braking and for fine adjustments of racing-line while cornering. Realistic or not, that's how it tend to work in games. In SBK 08 the rear wheel also wanders sideways during heavy braking (regardless of front wheel braking power it seems) so then rear brake is also used to stabilize the bike before cornering.

I now have Generations to, haven't done a lot yet, need to finish Career in 11. What I have seen is really good. Bikes, sound, tracks more detail makes it good to look at. Handling is maybe a little different, braking takes a while to get used to, or you lowside going in to corners. Very pleased with it, Milestone should have maybe did this from the start.

What I noticed handlingwise after some studious comparisons is that Generations has stronger front brake, slightly stronger acceleration and slightly quicker laydowns. Have fun :)

Milestone are now doing Moto GP 13, should be out in June. Probably be the same graphics engine as Generations, so should look quite good. At least it won't be like some of the arcade Moto GP games we have had recently. On a downside though, both might be very similar in game play, so players might not cross over to play both.

We have a thread going for it https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=272002

Just bought SBK Generations and it's a great game. Much better than MotoGP 2013 demo.

How can this game score 57 / 100 is beyond me, internet gaming reviews = bleakness.
