Wnabm3 - The AI is horrible. But there will be an online update within the week that's supposed to be a big improvement!

I just got my copy in the mail today!!!!! I can't wait to give it a go!

 I hope you're not disappointed!

The AI is pitiful - I was chasing around a full grid the other day on "LEGEND"!, gradually caught up with the leader & then passed him when he inexplicably drove off the road in the middle of a straight! :ouch:

The other annoying thing is that because of the "tuning", the Leaderboards are a bit meaningless, which ruins the point of trying to set top times, because you can never be sure of what the set-ups the other drivers are using. Frustrating.

I also noticed when watching a replay of a race how odd the movements of the cars look - it doesn't feel that way when you're driving, however.

Thanks for the heads up guys. :nervous:

I'm sure I'll be more than happy with it ( especially when they release that update )

And I'm well aware of this not being the perfect console sim:dopey:

Either of you guys use ffbw's ? If so, could you possibly give me some decent settings to use?

Thanks Again

If you want a real in-you-face, visceral driving experience, gas/brake on medium, FFB on hard.

@biggles

I know what you mean about "tuning" and top times. I also seem to notice that a lot of them have driving aids on, and I'm willing to bet they are using a pad. Which fuels a certain "pad-aid" that I hear about.

I recieved my copy a couple of weeks ago. I have been using high brake/throttle/ffb, and I slightly struggled. I may lower the brake and throttle sensitivity and work with that. I just love that strong ffb too much to lower it :)

Right on! 👍 I would agree about lowering the the sensitivity on the pedals as well. With the FFB on high, it's like trying to tame a wild beast with your hands while trying to thread a needle with your toes.

But you'll have to forgive Biggles for lowering the FFB. With age comes frailty. More than 3 laps and he'd be a goner. ;)

Thanks for the inputs guys! I didn't get a chance to give it a go last night...... a little too busy between shower, going out for dinner, grocery shopping for 3 weeks and catching the last 30 mins of the Office. But I will try it tonight:sly:

As far as the FFB goes, is it really as strong as you guys say? What other games does it compare to FFB wise? :indiff:

I'm starting to wonder if - with all the fitness-frenzy there is in the states - SCC wouldn't be better sold out there as a body-building software than as a racing game ... ;)

EDIT - Wnabm3, the only thing that compares to SCC's FFB on "High" Setting is this:

That is hilarious! Well okay then....... I think I understand

Try to hang on for dear life!

 It really isn't that bad. Besides, the bronco is more like the ultimate butt-kicker attachment than a FFB gauge. I think Grid with the FFB turned up to full, is actually much stronger than SCC. It's just that you feel oversteer and understeer so prominately and at times you're fighting it.

Let's put it this way, if you take a car like the 250LM and drive it around VIR for 20 laps, and you haven't exercised in a few weeks, your arms will probably feel a bit numb when the race is over. But it's not like it's going to rip your arms out of your sockets. :)

Funny you mention the buttkicker..... I ordered one a couple of days ago and I'm expecting to get it on Tuesday!

Well I guess I'm going to have rubbery arms for the next couple of days:D

I love the ffb in Ferrari Challenge (I'd expect same in SCC) on full and it does make for a handful (depending on the car) and you definitely have to grip the wheel.

But racing down a straight at 180 mph and having to take one hand of the wheel to flex your fingers and relieve the tension as you go; seems so real as you see on actual in-car camera footage.

I will find a place to order from online and get mailed to me in Canada because I want to drive those non-Ferrari cars in SCC (even if not that many in the game)!

Race ya later!

👍 So true. I'm not sure but I think in some of the videos I put up from YouTube you can even see me shaking my hands and wrists from time to time. Especially when you're in the middle of a tense wheel to wheel battle with a lot of corners, after about 10-12 laps, you really start feeling the relief when you hit a long straight. And if you're using the G25's H-Pattern shifter trying to man-handle some of the cars with one hand on the wheel while shifting is tough. But ultimately, the feeling is very satisfying.

There are a few threads where Ferrari Challenge and Supercar Challenge were compared. But in brief, the deadzone is still there but it's smaller and therefore more manageable. And some of the cars have been tweaked and handling attributes seem more realistic.

That said, aside from the DBR9 and C6R, none of the 'new' cars are really worth driving. Most, if not all of the rest are road cars. And on a track sitaution, many of them understeer like pigs. :indiff:

Which website should I buy the SCC from? And then have it shipped to me in Canada?

Biggles? Where did you get yours?

I'm afraid I can't help you. I got my sister to order a copy in the UK & she then brought it over for me when she visited. I even managed to get it designated as a Xmas present from my mum - as I managed to convince her I already had enough scarves! :)

I would just google it, & find a cheap reliable online store to order from ...

Thanks. I checked out the sites.

One of them had this notice:

Please also note that UK consoles games are for the PAL format will not work on NTSC (North American) consoles or televisions.

But Biggles mentioned he had a copy and it was working. Can anyone else confirm that if I buy SCC in Britain (shipped to Canada) it will play/run on my ps3?

Maybe it will work offline only?

Help......

I guess that's a general disclaimer. There are no NTSC copies of SCC as I understand it. So everybody playing SCC in North America is doing so with a PAL copy. It will work with your console & you will be able to play online. 👍

Ps3 blurays aren't region locked. The only way a PAL bluray won't work on a NTSC ps3 is if you're using a SDTV, for the PAL standard resolution is different than the NTSC resolution, so you're game won't be displayed. Any HDTV (720p, 1080i, 1080p) will work just fine, though.

I imported both SCC and SSV8NC to the USA. Both are PAL games. They work fine on a USA spec PS3 and the updates download without issue. Trophies will show up on your PS3 menu, but will not show up on the USA PSN website.

Was invited up to Eutechnyx in Newcastle last weekend. 300+ miles for me but it was well worth it. Firedshot and Holymary123 were also invited and it was nice putting faces on people you had spoken to online. Can't really tell you too much but as you probably already know by now SCC will be released in North America in the near future. It'll have a slightly different name aswell!

Eutechnyx are a really great bunch of people and are real racing enthusiasts (looking around their offices proves this). Their next couple of games look and sound fantastic and should be a treat for racing fans.

Was going talk about the menu cheat on SCC that lets you unlock all the cars but i better not!

👍

:) I hope so, I will wait a little longer.

The U.S. website, someone provided a few posts back, does not ship/sell into Canada.

Great to hear you were part of that entourage Sarrinen. How did the lot of you come to be invited by them? Racing Elite connections?

Would that cheat include unlocking Lamborghinis? ;)

DO IT! DO IT!

Seriously though... I imagine you can't talk too much of what you have seen but I'd like to ask this if it is possible for to answer without compromising any confidentiality you might be tied up to:

As far as the new games from Eutechnyx, have you get the chance to try them actually? If so, as far as physics concerned can we expect something on SCC's line or are they a more "tamed" (arcadey)?

Thanks 👍
