BTW, just for the record, my video camera is on the way out so I may not be able to record the races. (I tried to use it several times over Christmas and recorded a lot of fuzzy and/or black images). :ouch: If anybody else would like to record the event as a back-up it would be nice.

Or come to think of it, if anybody would like to donate to my paypal account so I can buy a new one it would be even better!

what happened to good old sportsmanship, and as far as i know you are unable to change setup on the games preset liveries. and if you feel you have to cheat to win then perhaps you should not be racing in a league. and as far as using default setup i think it's the best idea, it was the best thing about F/Challenge................... it makes for tight close racing, and your able to make proper overtaking moves, it brings it all down to skill with the car not skill with the setup.

Jeff, last night I raced again with the Daytona Spyder. Love the car, please consider it for a future old timer event, Miami Vice Edition ;)

To all, I wish a Happy New Year, with many good games, many good races and many good things happening to you in the "real world" (it exists, you know? :D )

 2010

I agree. I feel a bit uncomfortable 'asking' people to change a default livery to neutralized setup changes as I don't want to accuse anybody of cheating or potentially cheating or trying to potentially cheat. But at least this way everybody is in the same boat. It's like an airport security check. Everybody, empty your pockets. Right! Now back in line.

Well, it IS actually next on my list. (Shhhhh). And yes, I'm looking forward to it. ;)

Happy New Year to Everybody as well.

hello my friends 👍:)
I wanted to wish everybody Happy New Year 👍
I hope to return soon to play with my ps3 ,ciao ciao 👍

I can't see any issue with using default setups, nor forcing people to use a particular pre-made livery. The big reason is, the integrity of car setups in SCC is completely in question. Apart from the obvious ride-height thing, you put maximum negative camber with no negative affect, you put maximum toe with no reduced straight line speed etc. The problem with the setups is that it's not a matter of applying real-life mechanics and physics to the game - it's a matter of who spends hours trying things, or who is lucky to figure something out. And then it's made worse by particular groups, or "clans" keeping this unrealistic info to themselves, and we spend a couple of months racing online at a disadvantage, which really ruins the whole point of this kind of online racing.

And another problem is that the fastest setups are probably very problematic for wheel users. Pad users can throw on any kind of settings and probably get away with it.

UPDATE:

In that picture in the opening post, did they have to modify the roof of the car to fit that guy's head in it? I've looked at other pics and it's not like that!

Hey guys, hopefully i'll be able to participate in this event, though I might be meeting up with an old friend that day so I don't know if I can yet.

I had some great racing with Mario, Wayne, Alan, Frank and Miguel tonight - brilliant fun. The patch seems to have improved the online racing quite a bit, but the game overall remains heavily bugged unfortunately

Yeah, that really is kind of freaky! It's like they're using the guy's head as a roll-over bar!

Followed the pic's adress to the photographers website and thee you can read this:

The five pages of our photo gallery are a small sample of the over 200,000 images we have on file. All were taken at Vintage and Historic events in the Eastern United States and Canada. If you are looking for a particular image, please contact us, and we will do our utmost to fill your requirements.

So, it's a modern photo.

EDIT - About this:

Just to say that it was indeed great the racing last night, first in your lobby, then in mine. Actually, I had "thank you" PSN PMs from two guys I never met before, to whom I replied, of course, that a lobby is as good as the players in it are. The host is almost irrelevant in that respect.

Yesterday we tried to do the "quali" race as defined for this event, and I guess it didn't go that well (It went well for me, made the fastest lap :D ).

Maybe a few didn't realize what was supposed to happen, or didn't really know how to act in the first place. So, I thought about it and I have a suggestion.

When the "quali race" starts only the guy in pole starts. Everyone else waits and only leaves the grid after some 5 secs have passed over the guy in front doing the same. I know this means the 10th guy will wait about 1 minute to start (and the 16th 1.30 minutes) but any other way will result in people having their quali run troubled by traffic.

What I did last night was I let everyone else go and kept a race distance between 5 and 10 secs to Alan (he was penultimate) for the entire 1st lap. Then, the 2nd lap was as good as I could possibly do.

I Think this could be a good solution.👍

I take the view that clans are the same as race teams, and you keep info within that team, I also dont try to cheat the track with shortcuts but some do, at least SCC as closed that door,at least as far as W/R go, as far as the ride hight there is a way to get the same speed without going above +6 on the rear but it only works with the older cars. thats from me to you m8, I find that to use the ride hight for the speed you loose out on breaking so 1 cancels the other out, except for tracks like monza. I go for midway myself.

And another problem is that the fastest setups are probably very problematic for wheel users. Pad users can throw on any kind of settings and probably get away with it.

your right on this point i drive with wheel and i have to calm the cars down and that also slows them down, i always drive with all assists off, and to drive the faster setups you realy need the ABS on, thats my choice, if i went back to pad and all silly setups in time would be quicker, but the point to me is that i enjoy the game as i play now and that to me means more than winning. A clean 2nd or 3rd to me is better than a dirty 1st

Yeah, that's exactly what I did. I started in 2nd for the qualifying. I let Ben go. Then smashed by that Spanish Brian guy. I looked behind and could see smoke everywhere and around 8 sets of headlights closing. So I just swerved onto the side to let the mayhem through. After that, before my lap I left 20 seconds to the group in front. By the 4th last corner that 20s had disappeared, and it was pretty ridiculous then; cars swerving cutting me off and closing the door, as if it's a race. If someone has lost 20 seconds on a qualifying lap to any car, they might as well pull over and let the seemingly faster car through.

Yes, I got a message from Brian complementing us on our racing. I have to say, the online community in SCC is generally way more friendly and mature than any other i've come across.

Oh good, that way Alan will only have time enough to lap 2 thirds of the field :) 👍

Brian also messaged me. I doubt he is spanish (although he was using the spanish flag). 1st because there are no spanish Brians, that name only exists outside of the anglophone world in Monthy Python movies  and 2nd because he named his game-team "Nascar Team" ... I guess no spaniard would do that

Yeah, Brian is a distinctly un-Spanish sounding name. Like when I recently received a phone call from the NSPCC (a childrens charity) from this English guy claiming to go by the name of Pablo Gonzalez. Since I work in a call centre myself, and I know what it's like, I would bet heavily that he was egged on by his mates to make up a stupid name to introduce himself as

P.S. Biggles, please head over to the F1CE forum and look at my post in the Playseat thread and share your thoughts.

Ah that makes more sense now. I was wondering why there was some Spanish guy with the name 'Brian' who had a reference to Nascar. Nascar seems like the last thing Spanish would race in, after bob-sleighing maybe.

If you fancy a noob driver to make up some numbers (only got the game xmas), I'm available to join tonight :) I'm really enjoying the game, and this event sounds like fun. I'll drive as clean as poss, and let all blue flags through :D

Regarding the qualifying: In theory, if people stay in grid order on the first lap and slowly spread out so that by the time the lead car crosses the start/finish line, nobody should be closer than 5.00 seconds to the car in front of them. My suggestion would be, if you make a seriously big mistake and lose a lot of time (in other words, no hope of a decent grid slot), pull to the side and let the field by. That's not a rule, just a personal suggestion. But since collisions will be OFF during qualifying, everybody should have a chance to set a decent lap without fear of hitting anybody else.

No idea about Riviera times, but 2,15 at Spa with the 512S (default setup) is incredibly fast, I think you are basing that on a tuned car.

I'd say a consistent pace of 2.20 will make you finish confortably in the leader's lap. Alan can do consistently 2.16 (I have witnessed it, lap after lap) and 4 seconds x 20 laps makes for 80 seconds = 1.20.

To lap a guy doing 2.20 (very achievable time) in 20 laps you will need to lap consistently doing 2.13 (7 secs x 20 laps = 140 secs = 2.20)

1'39 is the time to aim at riviera to be competitive and 2'15 to not being laped at spa

Based on default setup:

I did a 2'15.99 at Spa, and that was pretty much the best time I could do. And I've never done below 1'40 at Riviera, so looks like you're going to win!

Hye what`s up guys?
I`m reading your posts and i`ve to say you that i`m really spanish, i`d like to have a name like "brian", that`s why i`m brian523. Under my name on SCC yo can read "Nascar Racing", man, i love Nascar, only few people in Spain knows what is Nascar, but a i`m a big Nascar fan. I love all american sports (NFL,NHL,NBA,Nascar)

Alan-G, Shiggy, i`m not a dirty racer, you know that, i know racing side by side or 3 wide, cuz i was playing for year in Nascar games. I dont like dirty racing,

Guys, as I feared, I won't be able to make it. Wish you all good, fun races, looking forward to check the results and race reports! 👍

Tried to get out the way best I could with the blue flags, hope I didn't annoy anyone!
