There's a lot of body-roll with the 250LM, so I tried everything on hard - springs, dampers, rollbars. It took the kurbs fine with this, so I stuck with it. I was struggling a bit on Monza though - TURNER had more grip through all corners, possibly with a softer setup. And also was killing me down the straights! I had default toe, so maybe it was too much negative camber.

Funny thing about collisions-off is, there still kind of are collisions! :nervous: It's because of their dynamic aerodynamics I think. It happens anytime the distance between the edge of two cars becomes less than zero (whenever two cars go inside one another). It looks like in this instance that the drag reaches its maximum value, rather than becomming zero.

So for example when two cars are approaching braking, one close behind the other and closing, the 2nd car will suffer drag. As the 2nd car passes into the 1st car, both cars' drag should stabalise at zero. But instead, it's as if both reach a maximum drag when within one another. This can cause both cars to completely overrun the braking.

I suppose it's different for everybody but I noticed that the 1st and 3rd events suffered comparably more lag related issues than the GTO event. And while I don't want to claim that the GTO race was 'lag free' it certainly was in comparison to yesterday. Looking back on it, I wonder if it's simply the result of the time of day, internet traffic, bandwidth, etc. The next event, regardless of how I decide to organize it, will be in the evening again.

Two people also mentioned that my lobby had only 2 orange dots. I should point out that the same lobby may appear as a single red dot for one person and 4 green dots for a different person. It all depends on the connection and relation between that person's PS3, their router, their connection to the Internet and any DNS and various server road blocks in between themselves and the host. So everybody will have a different perspective on which lobbies and hosts have a 'good' connection. Unfortunately, when we're all racing together, the fact that some people have little lag and others have a lot will often result.

I know once again, Arvore was unable to get into my lobby (very unfortunate for him). And I'm afraid when I actually end up running a race with him in a neutral lobby somewhere, the lag will make side by side running impossible.

The next event will be Nov 22nd and I'm hoping Eutechnyx will have the patch out by then and it will at least help improve with collision handling. I'm considering a lot of different options for the next even but one thing I refuse to bend on is collisions. Racing with collisions off is no longer racing but a bunch of cars running Time Trials (only together) and I just feel it changes the entire nature of the event and it simply loses it's appeal for me.

I can´t say how frustated i was not being able to participate in this event(i missed the other 2 to) it just seems jeff's connection and mine are incompatible and the server violent kicks me out of is lobby(yeah 2 red dots in my tv to)-that should happen to that geek sucker kubica.I made a few training sessions with eddietrout,alang,hairy-dave and others and were loving the car and pretty satisfied with the set up i come up to it(except for monza wet but set ups can't feel good for dry and wet conditions simultaneously of course) as i said to jeff in a private msg that just spoiled a perfect sunday afternoon racing with the best and most fair drivers i know-take Alan as an example of fairplaying and yet fast racing are compatible.I was so keen on playing this combo i kept trying to squezze back into the lobby dozens of time-sorry for that by the way i know this can be annoying for others but i really wanted to race-and when i reallized i couldn't i created my own lobby with the same combo waiting for some other unfortunated connection victim to join but only the kubica sucker joined...

(cont)...as a solution i hope to these problems i suggest a private lobby for next race with invitational entering only as i think those are less susceptible to this issues and prevents morons like kubica(yeah he isn't the only one, god made a few more of this spineless creatures to haunt clean racers-just check out shift online mode to see what i mean).I know jeff's intention to keep an open lobby were good and i comply with them in theory but life is a bitch and some times we have to be pratical. There are enought good drivers trying to participate in this combos so i think attendence won't be a problem despite of the chosen hour ,there will be always about 10 or more people racing ,witch is rather satisfying i think.

as for my connection incompatibillity with jeff's lobbys i suggest jeff that we meet at shift or other game to see if this connection issues are scc derivated(witch i believe they are) or psn connection or psn servers derivated because i play shift(less and less often because thats the diferrence between a great game and just a funny good loooking game-the great games keep pushing you back to playing once and once more)with some american dudes on my psn friends list and this problems don't occure.in worst case i will be taking part in trainning sessions during the week in european lobby's host...

as for the question of collisions on or off i play more often with them off because this way you prevent these frustated creatures like kubica to spoil 10 clean racers fun but if lobby is private this is no long an issue and i don't mind racing with collisions with people i meet in this forum because i know there all clean racers and when trading paint occurs is because it couldn't be avoided and adds some salt to the action having to surpass the slower driver in front of you or trying to ensure a place defending position from a faster follower(despite like alan i prefer to take no chances and give room to faster drivers-it's best to loose one place than 2 or 3...).
By the way i like to thank all the video and historical context posters in this forum about these event's it spices up the events and gives a new cultural dimension to these races:dopey::dopey::dopey:👍.
as for alan thanks for the driving tips witch you are very abbillitated to give and here i leave euthecnix a suggestion for their next game hire Alan to make the new tuturials and send Tiff to retirement....:):):):):):dopey:👎

Hey Jeff, Thanks for the invite yesterday... unfortunately I could not join you because I was watching FC Twente- Ajax (Football for those who dont know ;)) on tv with some friends. We ended up playing Tekken 6 and Pro Evolution Soccer... Hope you had good races though! 👍

Mmmm. Yes, I think this is the way I'm leaning. It's not what I wanted but just one ass like Kubica88 and it ruins a good race. I'm still weighing what to do on the lag issue though.

I use the words "you" and "your" a lot there; I don't mean it to be directed at anyone in particular! Just if anyone is overdriving the car or looking for quicker times, maybe there's a couple of useful ideas there.

Hi,

I can bet there are some good useful 'hints' to try out for getting better lap times. Some of your opinions I share with you and we had already discussed it earlier online last week - like the high gear thing while turning on the 250LM.

I feel my major difficulties are: 1) setting the proper braking points in different cars/track, and 2) getting the right "feel" for the throttle sensitivity for each different car.

Its a matter of practice I'd imagine, and also natural skill. Let's face it, I definetively can improve my lap times throught practice, but I vey much doubt that I will ever be as faster as you - that's the natural skill part! I guess my option would be dealing with it and take the best of fun from driving around with you guys, which I do!

Hi guys!

I'm sorry I missed the event. Even though it was expectable due to my wife's birthday, things are getting schedule in a way I believe it would been possible to participate on the event. Unfortunately, Saturday morning we had a phone call saying my wife's grandmother passed away so, we had to head to Algarve yesterday morning early, and I've only returned late night.

I've read your posts regarding the event and it seemed that it wasn't as fun as the 250GTO one due to lag issues and some "intruders" that were more interested in ruined everyone else's race rather racing themselves. Bastards!

Curiosly we had a training session earlier this week (Thursday?) - I believe arvore, Alan, hairy dave and eddie were in it also - were something similar was experienced. Severe lag issues which make driving impossible.

Hope, nevetherless, that you guys had the best possible fun and congratulations to you all, specially Alan for another class demonstration driving such a hard car to tame as the 250LM.

Well I think credit must be given to MHailwood, as he has the benchmark at Silverstone and Mugello. During the Mugello race, he was closing on me before being smashed by that guy driving backwards. So he might have won that race, with the fastest lap, and would have had a strong chance to win on the other circuits (even though it looks like he didn't pracice them much).

It's a possibility for someone in Europe to host the lobby. Since most of the users are in Europe, that might help.

I think that the issue would maintain at the same, since that when we were practicing on Thursday, all drivers were european if I recall correctly and the lag issue was evident.

Do you think its possible this is worsening due to the increasing number of people driving online at one specific period and the servers were the lobbies are hosted are able to deal with it?

Last week I was doing a race with 'frawe' and some guy called 'ayce_123'. Frawe punted me off under braking; I could seem him closing in my mirror, and didn't attempt to avoid me - perhaps there was a lag issue as he's normally a clean driver, and he also didn't stop and let me past.

As far as I know I had no contact with you. Heard no bumping sound or had no other indication that I hit you. Otherwise I would have let you pass. If I punted you then I want to apologize.

Changing hosts to somebody in Europe MAY help. And mainly because aside from myself, there aren't too many people from North America. So all of the signals have to bounce off my PS3 and then go to each other. But it may not make any difference either. Did anybody notice any serious lag during the 250 event? To me it was fine and I think it simply comes down to the weakest link in the lobby. Still, I'm not opposed to testing. Did I understand correctly Alan, that you're volunteering? ;)

I'm sorry to hear about the death in the family bullie. :indiff: Sad news. I was wondering yesterday if might have been able to stop in and join us for a few rounds.

I saw Blitz on Tekken and sent him the invite, which he since clarified. ;) I figured he had taken the LM out for a test run and ran away.

Just out of curiosity Arvore, what happened with you and Kubica88 in your own lobby? I assume he tried to punt you off? It's almost hard to believe that somebody would buy this game for no other reason than to enter on-line lobbies and screw around.

That's no problem. Like I said, I recognise you to be clean driving, so at the time I put it down to lag.

As for that 'Kubica88' guy - I'm suprised how persistent he is with that kind of messing. For a few weeks, I've noticed him doing that anytime I've come across him. Most people would just get tired of doing it!!

Obviously the sucker tried to push me off track several times but got behind in 1st lap and quit:drool::drool::drool::indiff: mine 1st blocked user in psn:crazy:

i'd have to agree with Alan,i know that i'm suspect since my connection seems to be the week link in jeff's lobby, why not give it a try??

I has afraid you won't agree jeff cause you are the organizer of the event but i think we could give it a try,Alan is an excellent choice since is one of the most regular attenders to this kind of events. If for some reason things don't work out for you we'll get back to the previous form-with me being unable to join in...:nervous::nervous::nervous::guilty::guilty:

No problem arvore--maybe we can do a test over the next week. And if Alan is willing and has a good connection, it's fine with me.

One thing I wanted to mention, if you were the last person to post, instead of starting a new post, you should go back and edit your most recent post to include the additional info as double posting is frowned upon by the mods. :)
