Anyway, got going again and Mario was over 20 seconds behind me but while I was driving sloppily he drove very consistantly and reduced the gap to something like 6 seconds at the end. Can't say I enjoyed the experience!

I told you, I had in Riviera both my worst finishing position (6th) and "My Best Race" ! 👍

All very frustrating and then, to cap it all, my son had a major upset (over something pretty trivial) and I had to go and sort it so it was time to call it a night.

Hope everything is well :)

@Bullie, no Sergio it was later in the race and, in the meantime, Jeff has posted the video which confirms to me that from his perspective it was a clean pass.

@Mario, everything is well thanks. He was having a big row with his sister and I had to find a diplomatic solution. Kids eh!!

The start at Riviera was as messy as I suspected it would be. Again, starting from the back meant there were a few obstacles to avoid with cars spinning and bouncing off barriers all around. I made my way up to 5th and Jeff was a few seconds behind. I was struggling and making a few mistakes which allowed Jeff close in and by lap 9 he was just behind me coming into the first of the hairpin bends. I was looking forward to seeing the video evidence because from my pov Jeff's car tapped me from behind and into the barrier but as he didn't slow to let me pass again I presumed he didn't see it that way!

Well, I posted the video now; Riviera2. Look at around the 7m 25 second mark. You can see from my perspective that we never touched and I kept tight to the inside. In fact, it was never my intention to pass you there. But you seemed to run a bit wide and I just took advantage of it. It's really a shame all the latency issues that result. Even though it was a clean pass from my perspective, I'm really down about it. Not just for you but because in a race marred with silly and cringe worthy driving errors from myself, I thought that pass was brilliant and the one highlight of my race. And now I know it wasn't such a 'great' pass at all. Ho-hum.:lol:

I have to say, rewatching the videos of Nurburgring, I guess it wasn't quite as bad as I remembered. It's clear now that a lag issue with bullie77 forced me wide and I lost 3 positions as a result. And I really kind of screwed Turner's race when I clouted him from behind at the hairpin--I think he lost 1-2 positions as well--but if you look, I braked at my normal point and if anything I would have been carrying less speed because I had been off the track a few hundred meters before. But I DID totally missed my braking point behind you going into the first corner a few laps later. And then when I spun on the last lap around corner 2-3 and ended up into the barrier allowing 2-3 cars by, oh the horror , I just wanted it to END. On all three circuits, I was just making a LOT of unforced driving errors.

During the battle I was having with LUX at Spa, I was so nervous when we were racing together because you never know when lag is setting in and I tried hard to make my intentions clear. And I think we both gave each other a lot of room and it was pretty enjoyable. Amazing how at times it's possible to race really closely with another car and not have any problems.

I have two additional videos (unedited) that show the last half lap of Riviera and Nurburging but I doubt it's worth posting them. I just couldn't fit them in with YouTube's 10 min limit.

And sorry to hear you were also having connection problems Frawe. I was also getting those weird frame rate stutters at Mont-Tremblant. ARGH! So annoying. And unfortunately one of them caused me to go off, missing second place. :guilty: I actually experienced this once before a long time ago racing with Shaggy_Alonso. But it hasn't happened since. Until yesterday. Naturally.

Mario's son (HAPPY BIRTHDAY KID! AND DAD!) video (a hell of a director, far better than his dad, he knew who was the 'driver of interest' during the first lap - me! -, so he was admiring that lecture of driving) shows clearly what happened in my POV on those 2 turns Jeff:

1) on the tight left I brake late and turned wide, you see the gap on the inside and took it, I saw your car, and struggled to not push you while trying to stay on track.

2) on the right turn later, it was you who took it wide, giving me a passing opportunity on the apex which I took. Coming out of it, while accellarating, obviously I derived towards the outside but I tried to be carefull not to push you out, since I was sure that you were there, although I wasn't seeing you from my perspective.

No problem bullie77. 👍 Obviously from your perspective (as well as Mario's) everything was fine. It wasn't anything you did wrong. But I just thought it was an interesting illustration because now for the first time, we have video evidence of the SAME incident and can clearly see how it appears from both sides.

yesterday i didn't have so much luck, i did get invites and not just one but 3 of them, i accepted every single one but then i get "The Lobby is Full" msg. :guilty:

i am not very fast but not that bad either, better with the faster and new cars, than that oldies.

so maybe NXT time we will try some much more ridiculous than FP330 P4 what do you say for Koenigsegg CCX :scared: all i can say is Be careful "Stig" this car Bites :)

ABS - OFF
TC - OFF
SC - OFF
RACE LINE - OFF

Weather - DRY,
well we don't have to be sadistic.

Just proposing :)

Wow, the owner of such desirable cars showing up here :).

Forza 3 only has a closed 330 P4. There are very few open cars in Forza 3. Cars like the Ferrari California are shown closed.
There's a livery editor in the game, so you should be able to make whatever livery you want.
Maybe I'll look at the huge Forza credits if I can find you.

Edit:
Yes, you are listed under "special thanks to the car community that helped make this possible".
Didn't you get at least a copy of the game, a special one signed by the devs would be appropriate.

@jjaisli
Sorry to everyone that had problems with me yesterday.
There is a big timing / sync issue in SCC. It shows up from the beginning when cars seem to be released early, after the finish where the race result is often different for every player.
And of course in game:
Yesterday Arvore thought I would have pushed him out sometimes but from my point of view it was just the opposite: He hit me hard from behind not only once so that I went off track.

Let's hope the updated netcode in the upcoming patch solves some problems.

Thanks! They promised me a copy but have yet to send it.

Go figure.

Hi guys

First of all thanks for the driving yesterday. I had a very good time driving you guys, at least until half the event. Afterwards, this were a little bit different.

Taking the chance of being misunderstanded here, specially considering I'm no such of a good driver, I have to say clearly that in my opinion, although all the lag issues which are a fact, there are some drivers who do take advantage of that to practice unclean racing. It is my opinion.

The Mont Tremblant race, the 1st lap was disgracefull. I've been tossed off track about 3/4 times on the first half of the lap. Honestly I was this close of quitting.

I'll say no names but PLEASE EVERYONE KEEP IN MIND THIS IS A GAME FOR US TO ENJOY, WHERE WINNING ISN'T DEFINETIVELY THE MOST IMPORTANT! AND IF IT IS, PLEASE ADVISE ME, BECAUSE I'VE BEEN WRONG AND IT WOULD BE BETTER FOR ME TO LOOK FOR OTHER SORT EVENTS.

I'm here to race and enjoy. And my notion of that is what happen, as example, for 3 laps yesterday with Ghost_Dice for... 8th position!

First i'de like to thank jeff for organizing the event-already did it last night via psn-which is undoubtly a sucess like the ones before and the ROC event which reveals the passion we have for this game despite all its bugs and flaws.
Second i'de like to thank all of you for A GREAT TIME racing in a long event that glued us to the tv for a couple of hours worldwide-we have to get us an asian participant to really internationalise this event.
About the races themself i had good race in homstead spa and m.t. in which i had the normal inccidents that undoubtly will occur in races with collisions on and lobby full-i apologise any bumps i might have provoced but they due to my poor driving skills and not malicious i remember in particculary the inccident with drivatar in the last two laps in nurburgring and some of them with bullie in several occasions for both ways which i think are natural between racers of the some "championship".
In nuburgring and riviera i was allover the place due to many mistakes but also by some reckless and careless driving by some players...👎
Wich brings me to my point and agreeing with bullie that me,like him come to these events to have fun and have tight racing quality time disputing the back of the pack struggling for 4th 5th ,whatever place...
But i think in such a wide event that brings toghether people with diferrente driving skills some of the fastest racer should take Alan example of responsible and respectfull racing with slower players wich he has to overtake...he lapped me in riviera(awfull race to me) waiting for the right moment without never endangering an inccident that would cost us both losing time and i tried like i always do to make it easy on him.But then i saw again the blue flag when closing on bullie warning me i was about to get lapped by the 2nd and 3th i tried to get room to let turner pass(rather impatient also) on my right side when i was completly bashed by the third-Mhailwood- which tried to make trought me inthe left side.As a result of that after all that spinning and mayhew was clear i was irremediable behind bullie and he lost the battle for 2nd place which he was going to get because he was being the faster-1.53...-and quit the race and the event.I know he probably did not wanted to have a slower racer like myself beetwen he and turner but it had been better if he waited another second or two cleanly and safety overtaking me and getting 2nd place anyway and stayed in the event showing us all his great driving skills.
My point is that this events could be more enjoyable then that they allready are if people are more commited to safe driving and avoiding all contact like in real life. With the lenght of such events fasters drivers will always come first and they are the most bennefit of secure and responsible driving because crazy and reckless driving make some fast people get behind slower drivers like the time table leaderboards proof.

Anyways had a great time and eager for the next event. Is it on the 6th December Jeff?:)

Congratulations to the winners and many thanks to Jeff for hosting the races.👍

I don’t think things could have been much worse for me though… :guilty:

At Homestead I started in the back, let everyone get to the first couple of corners before me as I had just got home and was still adapting to the car. I managed to gain a few places but then at the beginning of lap 2 I was punted off the track on the second corner (Mario’s first video shows the incident) … as I was approaching the last left corner before reentering the oval I got disconnected from the lobby …👎

At Nurburgring I didn’t even get to the starting grid, having been disconnected as we were exiting the lobby. I had had the same troubles Saturday evening – more so in Jeff’s lobby than in Mario’s - so I thought maybe I should call it a day and stick to offline until I try to work on getting a Nat 1/2 connection, sending a message to Jeff stating this.

Anyway, Jeff did send me a 3rd invite to the Riviera race and I decided to give it a further try… shouldn’t have, really. On the first corner someone punts me into the barriers and I’m suddenly facing the wrong way; when I managed to regain contact with the pack I passed 2 or 3 cars on the left hairpin before the climb but then, again, someone punts me on the tight right hairpin after hotel (if this was Monaco) making me spin and drop to last one more time. After a few more mistakes from me I unexpectedly see Mario up ahead and tried to stay close but I just kept getting further back (little wonder!). I then decided to put an end to the nightmare this race had become and quit to the lobby - feeling that as I would soon be lapped I might ruin the race for the others - and wait for better luck at Spa (I want to stress that quitting a race is something I don’t normally do and all my others “drop outs” last night were disconnects from the lobby).

I waited patiently in the lobby for the Spa race but just like at Nurburgring I got disconnected at the beginning of the race; this time I was even sign out of PSN!
End of story. And a sad one it was!:)

Thanks! They promised me a copy but have yet to send it.

Hey, it's Microsoft. What do you expect. :) No free lunch with those guys.

@ Drivatar: Not that I have any desire to drag this thread into a Forza/SCC debate or even worse an XBox360/PS3 debate, but assuming from your comments that you have Forza 3, how would you compare the two, and specifically referring to the 330 P4?

@ Arovre: I completely agree with your sentiments and I tried to make this point numerous times. I can understand people's frustration when you're in the middle of a battle for position. But it doesn't mean that back markers can simply roll over and disappear. And part of racing means learning to cleanly navigate around other cars. I don't want to lay blame or crucify anybody as the latency issued clearly caused a lot of problems. And my own driving left much to be desired.

At any rate, yes, I'm shooting for December 6th for the next round. I'll open a thread in the next few days.

Sorry to hear it was such a mess for you. I can tell you there were a lot of issues with the PSN network on Saturday. I was constantly being disconnected. So the last one may have been a general problem. But I'm convinced at this point that there are just too many connection issues, EVEN with a NAT 2 connection. And I'm not sure if Sony or Eutechnyx or the stars are to blame. The only way to assure (assure?--maybe that's too strong) is to hard wire the PS3 directly into your modem, even bypassing the router. It's not something I would recommend for general gaming and every day use. But it's what I'm going to do from now on for these events.

Difficult to answer.
I haven't done a direct comparison and the games just feel different. In Forza 2/3 older cars are represented like in most games with a softer suspension, less grip and more unstable. What a surprise...

Generally I'd say Forza is easier to drive, load-cycle behavior is less pronounced and it doesn't have the annoying pad assists of SCC. Forza 3 runs with very stable 60fps and v-sync on.

Online there are no penalties in Forza 3 and you can take a lot of shortcuts. Public custom lobbies and system link are removed in Forza 3 :banghead:.

Interesting, thanks. I'm kind of shocked to hear about the lack of penalties and private lobbies. It really makes you wonder what the heck developers are thinking.

Hope you like it. If I have time, I will publish tomorrow the second part. Please notice this:
a) I made many mistakes myself
b) Apart from any non-malicious bump (given or received) only lag made harder contacts to happen;
c) arvore's spin was a huge setback but in the end it only added to the fun
d) I think I respected all players and was never "pushy" in my urge to recover places but feel free to disagree
e) The music is only meant to enhance the feeling of FUN I had in this race.

Enjoy!

Makes you wonder what an abortion a Online race can turn into.
will be like a free for all . Punt fest of note .

Nice Video Hun,

Interesting to see what my connection gets up to. You can see me hit a wall but then the game realises I never actually hit the wall and apologises with a quick zoom forward lol. Or when my car pushes you wide, then suddenly the game realises that I'm actually close to the apex and its too late, you're in the wall.

I think at 7.50 odd I genuinly outbraked myself and pushed you wide, sorry about that.

Nice video tho, I must say after watching your video's I switched to the hood cam myself. And am quite enjoying that feeling of pace.

The biggest benefit of using the hood cam in my opinion is that great 3D "look back" feature. It's not particularly realistic but for racing on-line it's a big advantage in being able to quickly see where other cars are around you. I personally prefer the new 'dash cam' view myself but the view backwards is very restricted and you can't always see where other cars are.

On 1:58 i would of kicked my ass if i was you ! .. LOL
look like i tried to pin you to the wall .

i had No idea the glitching gets so bad , coz note after the crach the PS relizes that im actualy doen the track and not near you .

I really hope it gets fix after the patch

But honestly .. i have not had any such lag at my end .. all is pitty smooth !

No worries about 7.50 and yes, it is very clear that everything else was about lag. You can see that with Ghost Dice also. At 2:02 he is there, at 2:04 ... he isn't :dopey:

It is interesting that you guys didn't suffer the same kind of erratic visual lag as the rest of us. Boy, no wonder you thought people were driving like a bunch of buffoons. LOL!

You probably misunderstood. You can make private lobbies in Forza 3 with a lot of options. But for public races there's only a matchmaking system.

Great video and recovery Mario great directors cut can't wait to see the second part. When i refered that faster drivers should be more respectfull towards slower racers i wasn't thinking of you because i find that like Alan you should also be an example of responsible clean driving(some bumps of course we're all human(exception made to Alan-just kidding:)👍) but no spinning out opponents nfs shift way:drool:👎 and i know that from self experience which the race from m.t.(i'm sure you also post that video after fun edit) where you were like 2 laps on my tail and despite of being faster you waited for the right spot to overtake, i really think that you also suffered the same situation i did from what i could see in the Homestead video:nervous:

Arvore, i left not because of the incident you mention but because of the terrible lag issues. Spent 6 laps at Riviera trying to get passed L449KUX who's lag was driving me mad. Picked up 4 penalties and 2 crashes because of the lag and was on the verge of quitting when he spun in front of me. That left me in third 25 seconds behind turner.
Managed to catch turner with 2 laps to go, then we had are accident at the left hander before the hill. You let turner by and then appeared from nowhere inside my car. The lag issues again. That was enough for me and i turned it off. I seem to be getting a reputation for ramming people which i feel isn't justified.

Ah that's amazing Mario. When I arrived at the 2nd last corner, you were parked stationary pointing into the white/orange barrier, not at the apex. So as usual, must have been a few seconds of an inaccurate "prediction-period".

If I was in your position parked at the apex I would have either switched to most outer-car view to get a better view for a break in traffic. Or most likely I would have kept going forwards/backwards by a tiny amount to manoeuvre around, without reversing out too far.

Still, interesting video! Good drive.

When I was overtaking you, I was unsure if I had cleared you, so was at a bad angle for entering that fast left/right. Got too greedy and took too much speed into the right-hander.

It seems the videos proof that are many virtual realittys as much as players and the lag issues make that each one of us see different things on the screen.I thought that you tryed to make a pass on me on an impossible situation(in a turn so narrow it wiil was impossible to let you both overtake and he arrived at my tail first)and quit as a result of that crash...sorry for my missjudgement. The anoying thing is that with this ridicullous collision system
people get agravated with each other it happened to me last night with Derrek(turnuptheheat) in spa he tought i push him over the track into the sand and i never even touched him.SO i guess patient from all of us is required until the patch comes out and hopefully sorts all this bugs out.
Let's hope the next event goes better without these inccidents. It will be a pleasure to watch you drive again no agravation taken or given...see ya on the tracks:)👍

I know I mentioned in my race report that you hit me in the first corner at the start of the Nurburgring race and I think it's clear from Mario's video that this was the case.

[/QUOTE]

However, I didn't mention it to undermine your reputation, it was simply part of a report of what happened in the same way that Alan reported that I, unfortunately, hit him a couple of times towards the end of the first lap in the Spa race.

There are always 2 sides to a story and I am confident that your reputation is safe as it should be considering you are the reigning ROC Champion.

One of the rules (or probably unwritten rules) of motorsport is not to change lines in the braking zone. In that instance, Derek's car swerved towards the middle of the track in the braking zone. If this was to avoid a collision ahead, I would not put Derek at fault. MHailwood looked like he was taking a bit too much speed in, but had Derek's car not swerved, MHailwood possibly would have escaped without hitting anyone, or by running wide. So also I would not blame MHailwood for this. I would call it a racing incident!

I wouldn't trust you guys as stewards even if it was to serve as such in a snail race and you could watch it in slow motion! Good glasses are needed in Ireland !!!!!

Let me guide you gentlemen ... please take good notice of who are the drivers shown (in the left of my screen) as being "in front" and "behind" me.

Now look closely and you will see this:

0:19 -
- driver "in front" - turnupdaheat
- driver "behind" - arvore

0:22 - arvore passes me.
Now arvore is featured as driver "in front" of me
MHailwood is driver "behind" me

0:23 -
- arvore hits Derek
- MHailwood hits me

After Homestead, this. I must say I didn't mind that much, I think mistakes happen and even champs do them (although maybe a "sorry" PM was in order). And I'm only showing this now because I think you guys are all blind and can't figure out what happened even when it's videoed ... :dopey:
