ok guys here we are at week 2. welcome to monte carlo and the famous cote' d'azure this weeks race will be a 2 lap sprint using the family cup from city courses section on difficulty level 10. sorry about it only being 2 laps, but im trying to avoid using the track meet too much....should be good AI on this one, and difficult to pass. constant traffic. good luck guys.

Ooooooohhh, I love Cote! Especially with some AI action to boot.

This ought to be a breeze. Seeing that we did this last week for WRS. Now I get to see how my Focus handles in a tight city course.

(Track meet isn't available at CdA anyhoo). This will make for a quick week, at least. :D

This is a great track for these cars, man. I'm having the easiest time driving through the chicane after the tunnel that I've had in any car.

Team Golf will not participate in the round 2 race at Monaco unless a chicane will be added at turn #1

:dunce: :dunce: :dunce: :dunce:

It's a reference to the rules and tires debacle at the US Grand Prix last weekend.

 Yeah. Pretty funny Deuce.

Not much discussion going on here! Everybody being coy, or nobody's had a chance to practice yet?

Golf Power !!!

Race completed, PM was sent to YLG.

Lots of fun! Great track and heavy traffic (in lap #1 anyway)

190 A-Spec points race.

Line up and results:
(#)- Position when race started.

+00.000 VW Golf V GTI ’05 (6)
+07.661 Dodge VIPER SRT10 ’03 (1)
+10.352 Spyker C8 laviolette ’02 (2)
+11.748 Nissan R390 GT1 Road Car ’98 (3)
+12.756 Shelby Cobra 427 ’67 (5)
+13.987 RUF CTR “Yellow Bird” ’87 (4)

There were 4 “incidents” to report (all in lap #1):
  1. Right at the start in turn #1, I guess I was too hyped and rubbed the wall on the exit. :grumpy:
  2. Passing the Shelby in the first hairpin I took an aggressive inside line the Cobra hit me when we came out of the turn.
  3. Something similar happened in the next hairpin with the Nissan.
  4. And in the tunnel the Spyker coming from behind was faster than me, passed me from the left in the straight and basically ran into me to the point that I hadto slow down and let him pass. :indiff:

My 2nd lap was almost a full sec’ slower than my best practice lap.

GL everyone, hopefully we’ll have more than 14 drivers this round.

Golf Power !!!

Holy crow! You put a 7-second hurting on a Viper in 2 laps?! In a GTI?!

Funny you ask, when I looked at the line-up I was scratching my head: “how come it’s only a 190 point race?”
But all of them derived like 🤬 and on regular brakes.

I smoked them!!! LOL

Still, that damn impressive !! thats a race i would have liked to see in real life ! :dopey:

We’ll see how impressive it is after all the results are in…
I don’t expect to finish too high, the car was shaking like an old dryer in all the low-speed turns regardless of my settings.

I had the Spyker, the SRT10, a pagani Zonda, a BMW M5, one more I can't remember at the moment. The Spyker held me up horribly during the first half lap and I managed to pass the viper for 4th on the last corner.

When is the deadline for this again?

well if you have run the race, it shouldnt matter when the deadline is, because you have done it already and in plenty of time, but just for reminders sake for those who have not run the race, it is due by midnight central time (US) on sunday.

In my practice car, I was up against Spyker, Cobra, Zonda, M5, and some other and I was surprised at how slow they went. The hairpin is impossible to get through without and contact. I'll run my race this afternoon (if I get my break from work) or Sunday.

I watched that race last night (rerun) and I couldn't believe it. Honestly, if I was 1 of the other 6 still running, I wouldn't have in protest. Ridiculous. 👎 👎

Hey, bleu, we're only supposed to practice on an empty track... no AI until the one-and-done race itself.

I must be blind. I thought we could practice all we want in our practice cars? Even on the race course itself as long as we don't use the race car? Did I miss that somewhere?

HOLY CRAP. I haven't even run one single lap yet and the deadline is tomorrow. :scared:
I've worked the last 13 days in a row, I guess this race had slipped my mind.

I better get crackin on this when I get home today.

You can run Cote all you want in your practice car, but, you can't practice with any AI on the track.

The only time that the AI should be on the track is when you are doing the race, which, you are only supposed to do once.

Tell you what I'll do. Just so I don't appear like I'm cheating, I'll:

1. give myself half (100kg) of the MAX weight as a penalty for what I've done.

OR

2. forfeit Round 2.

I'll let you guys decide.

I vote weight penalty for this round and you cna remember in the future.

I mean, we are attempting to run a gentlemen's series and you owned up to your mistake openly, worthy of a 'soft' penalty I think.

Well, this leads to another question. Did he practice round 1 with AI on the track?

I don’t want you to forfeit the race, and if it was up to me there will be no penalty for what seems like an honest mistake.
But between those 2 options I’ll go with the weight penalty.

You can practice all you want, in the practice car, but it has to be on an empty track. We only get one run at the race with AI.
Da Rules
7. practice all you want, practice must be on an open track with no AI

8. all RACES are to be run ONLY ONCE, if you screw up you screw up, that is racing, live with it, and try harder next week.

I had some free time waiting for my wife to get ready before we go out (anywhere from a short 60min to a long hour) so I took some pictures:

What a let-down, first turn and first mistake. Maybe because I wasn’t used to be so slow before that turn (coming from a rolling start instead of full speed):
SCCA02a.jpg

I entered the turn cleanly but didn’t want to give up my line to the Cobra:
SCCA02b.jpg

I even climbed the sideways trying to avoid contact but I guess it was inevitable:
SCCA02c.jpg

The Spyker is closing the gap:
SCCA02d.jpg

Instead of passing me from the left (it was faster) the driver decide to run into me:
SCCA02e.jpg

For some reason passing me is not enough as he continues to push me to the right:
SCCA02f.jpg

Eventually I have to give up and let him pass:
SCCA02g.jpg

Sweet revenge, the Spyker driver brake way to early coming to the next turn and is left in the dust thinking of his behavior:

Sorry guys, just thought I'd popin and congratulate Deuce on some really neat pictures!

Well, this leads to another question. Did he practice round 1 with AI on the track?

Actually, no I didn't. I practiced on an empty track. I don't know what made me do it this time.

Da Rules
practice must be on an open track with no AI

I really must have missed that. I'll just toss this round out. No time submittion from me. Sorry guys.

Don’t give up before there is an administrative ruling. 👎

I think that every1 will be O.K. with some sort of penalty (weight or time) instead of a DQF.
