I'll just toss this round out. No time submittion from me. Sorry guys.
Well, voting as a driver, not the steward, I don't think you should do that. This is a gentlemen's race, it's only Round Two, and you admitted your mistake. I would hate to see you forfeit your time. Maybe ylg could assess you a 5-second penalty or something if it seems appropriate. But don't get zero points for a DNF.

I agree. I don't think that there is need for you to not race. Just wait and see what YLG has to say. Like Duke said, don't take zero points when you still have the chance to get a few.

Chin up bleu. Something can get worked out. 👍

Whew, just jetted in from Monaco! It's a rough life, I tell ya

Ran my practice and the race tonight, with my weight penalty, I'm sitting at 284hp @ 1256kg.

Best lap from practice was:

0'28.9 (saw 28.6)
1'15.236

The field I drew for the race looked like:

1. Zonda
2. Shelby Cobra
3. Viper
4. Spyker
5. Viper Concept
6. Mazda 6

It was an ... eventful race :p, but what a blast :D I really wish it could have been cleaner :guilty:

0'37.189
1'27.537

0'30.297
1'18.433

- I caught the Viper Concept at Mirabeau, and just touched the back of him. Nothing gained or lost, really ... neither of us changed our line because of it.

- I passed the Viper Concept between, Mirabeau and Loews. He kept nudging my right rear quarter panel.

- Going down the hill after Loews, the Spyker cuts across the track from right to left, then turns in sharply. I do my best to avoid him, but no luck 👎 A bit of a bump, but I didn't gain anything by it.

- I pass the Spyker cleanly through Portier.

- Under braking for the Chicane, I had to take evasive action as the Viper takes up most of the road, and brakes *a lot*. I didn't touch him, but lost a bucket and half of time :ouch:

- Same story in Tabac, except avoiding the Viper caused me to run wide on the exit and touch the wall. Apparently the Viper's driver missed the day in driving school where they explained that the middle of the track isn't usually the best place to brake or turn in from.

- I pass the Viper cleanly into the second part of Piscine.

- I'm right on the Cobra's tail through Rascasse, and I touch the back of him very slightly.

- I know the Cobra will brake early for Ste. Devote, but I misjudge it anyway, and brake too late (for the Cobra, not the corner), and I hit his right rear quarter panel, and get past. I'd say I gained an advantage here ... I'd not likely have gotten past if it weren't for the bump

- The Cobra re-passes me up Beau Rivage, I touch his right-rear through Massanet, then he leans on me through Casino. I out-brake him cleanly into Mirabeau.

- I get pinned between the Zonda and a hard place at the bottom of the hill after Loews, touching both a bit. I have the inside line through Portier, and the Zonda turns into the side of me twice.

- From the exit of Portier to the end of the race is clean and clear! 👍

My flight had a longer than expected layover in Amsterdam, so I haven't even gotten any track time yet. :O
Actually, it was my wife's birthday on Saturday, and I thought better of spending my time than racing! Probably wouldn't have gone over well! ;)
We should get in first thing in the morning so it looks to be a busy day on the course for Sunday.

Nice write-ups so far!

bleu, it was an honest mistake, and i think both your penalties are a bit stiff, especially since you owned up to the mistake. wherever you finish im gonna dock you 2 positions. that is a 2 point penalty, plus you will carry the weight penalty of wherever you finish BEFORE the 2 position drop. this way you are still legitimately in the point hunt, since you will only be missing 2 pts, but you still carry the heavier weight penalty of finishing well (assuming you finish in the top 6) i figure this is fair. and i appreciate the honesty.

Again guys, I'm very sorry. It will NEVER happen again. I appreciate the chance to still compete. Now, if I don't finish in the top 6, I'm still willing to take a weight penalty for what I've done. But I guess we'll see. My submition will be very late tonight ( if at all) because I am out of town. I hope to get back in time to do the race.

OK, I got a chance to put in 10 or 15 practice laps on Saturday evening, and Sunday morning I ran a handful of warmup laps before switching to the race car for the event. My lineup was:

AC Cobra 427
Viper SRT-10
Spyker C8
Nissan R390 Road Car
Ruf CTR Yellowbird
VirtualTime Racing Acura TSX

I was glad to see a rolling start because a standing start would have left my poor FWD for dead. Here's a Monaco track map for reference, because I need it.

I got a decent run at the first turn, but lack of power kept me behind the field up the hill. From Massanet through Mirabeau I was able to reel in the CTR a little. I ducked to the left and passed him cleanly under braking for Loews (the switchback hairpin), apexing right behind the R390. I had a minor nudge to the R390's back end at exit, but it only cost me a little time. I got inside the R390 at the following turn. Considering the tight track and the spacing between the CTR and the R390 (about 2 car lengths), in the replay it was surprisingly clean.

I fell in behind the Stryker at Portier, a little back. I reeled him in all through the flats, pressuring him through La Piscine area. I got inside and outbraked him at La Rascasse, taking a minor hit on my outside door when he tried to turn into me. I then sighted in on the Viper, outbraking him to the inside at Mirabeau on the second lap, and taking the same minor hit to the poor driver's side door. I worked on catching the AC through the flats and was able to try the same move at La Rascasse that got me around the Stryker. I nosed inside him at the exit, but he had more power and put it down better, and he outdragged me through Noghes to the finish line.

My MOL was -0.731" to the AC Cobra, who drove better than he usually does. I didn't note any split times, though my lap 2 was right in line with my good practice laps. My out lap was a surprising amount slower, but not unreasonable. Interestingly enough, none of the AI passed each other, even the CTR/R390, who were hammer and tongs the whole way round.

This was a fun race, surprisingly clean, and the TSX was more at home at Monaco (uhhh, St. Pete) than I expected it would be. Here's looking forward to the Round 2 results!

You guys and your write-ups are making this a whole lot more fun. I was kind of not looking forward to my race tonight... now I am :)

Thanks!

Well, my race was interesing, I was up until the tunnel straight on lap 1, I was wondering what the fuss was about with the AI.

Line-up:
Zonda
Cobra
SRT10
Spyker
R390 Road Car

Passed the R390 heading into the hairpin just after T1; I clearly had the line, and he nudged my drivers rear; no gain, no loss. Passed the Spyker in the downhill extra-tight hairpin; very cleanly, except for my riding that nasty rumble strip (losing time no less). Which put the SRT10 well infront and clear to take the next turn, however, for the right heading to the tunnel straight, the Viper of course was all over the brakes way too early. Passed him so cleanly I bet he wondered what he thought he was doing all pimped out in his Viper while a little SRT went whizzing past like regular clockwork. Of course, he got his back in the tunnel, except he was too stupid to pass, instead his revenge was to come to my inside, and pushme across the track heading down the hill. Of course, he broke way early and I sort of lost control of the car under braking, and couldn't help but have a medium hit with the guardrail on turn in (while steering away from it). Fine, that cost me a lot, but the Viper was definitely behind me for the duration of the race at this point. Asshole. Caught up to the Cobra in the pool section just after T2. Coasted a little extra through the esses to not bump him, thinking I could just carry more speed and pass on the short straight to the final hairpin. Unfortunately I naively forgot that he's carrying a 427 under the hood and he didn't like me trying to steal the better line. However, we were just barely rubbing door handles all the way through the turn, that was until of course the turn exit. He promptly and swiftly pushed me into the wall, pinned me there a moment, and then tore off into the distance, leaving me in 1st gear! First gear damnit! Thats ok, got up to the top of the hill on lap 2 all cleanly, gaining the whole time, and just outbraked him into the first hairpin that follows T1. Yet again however, he wasn't having any of this and just like the R390 attempted to re-take position, only to realize I was all the way in front and got a light tag on my drivers side rear. Closed the gap on the leading Zonda very well and turned in unison through the downhill hairpin. However the Zonda driver resfused to let this little SRT take him on the outside of a turn and just kept pushing wide until I was forced to brake early and follow him into the quick right. Which was fine, he totally fumbled the braking zone into the right leading onto the tunnel straight, and just like that silly Viper driver, I left him there to ponder his misconceptions about driving. Clean to the finish line.

It was a close one up to the deadline. Had about 20 minutes of practice before doing the race. I did the race, reviewed it to get info, ran downstairs to submit time I believe 5 minutes before deadline. :nervous: :scared:

Line-up
05 BMW M5
02 Mercedes SL55 AMG
00 Pagani Zonda C12
66 AC Cobra 427
02 Spyker C8 Laviolette
03 Ford Focus ST170

PICTURES UPLOADED.

Green flags wave. Pedal to the floor. Clearly the underdog.

Playing catch-up to T1. Dove inside the early braking Spyker. He shut the door hard and hit my left rear quarter, nearly pushing me into the wall. Come down to hairpin, fell victom of double braking by the Cobra, lightly tapping his rear. I sneaked by after the 1st right with heavy braking to avoid the Zonda in the next right. Lightly tapped him as well. He benefitted from that as he got a boast going into the tunnel.
Coming out of the tunnel, I expected the Zonda to brake early so I took the inside line, missing the Zonda and the wall by centimetres. On to T2, stuck my nose inside the Benz and got shut down. Going into the 2nd right, I got inside and passed cleanly. He took an awkward line and caught my left rear quarter, pushing me into the wall forcing me to lose my line, thus moderately hitting the wall on the left turn. Benz reclaimed position. Coming into the wide hairpin before the pits, I get back inside, rubbing wing mirrors (but not pushing him out, I'm turning more away from him), I reclaim 2nd.
Lap 1 complete, still chasing the M5. I catch him at T1 and out brake him before the hairpin. Clean pass and open track to the finish. Going through T2, I narrowing missed the wall as I'm sliding through the double right.

Lap 1
T1 0:37.170
T2 1:27.800
Lap 2
T1 0:29.609
T2 1:17.709

Here's my recap of the race at St. Pete's for week 2:

Starting Grid:
Spyker C8 Laviolette
Nissan R390 GT1 Road Car
Dodge Viper GTSR
RUF CTR2
Mercedes SL 65 AMG
Mazda Protege

Like the rest of you, I helplessly watched the field pull away up Beau Rivage. As I approached the left after Massanet, I realized that my cold 'blue' tires were not going to corner the way they did in my practice runs :scared: , but I got lucky and got through the corner well enough . Much to my surprise, I was right on top of the Mercedes. As he was sailing around Casino, I was able to cleanly duck underneath him for a look at fifth place. He briefly regained his position ahead of me down the hill, but I easily out-braked him for the pass at Mirabeau.

The RUF ran wide at Loews and I snuck inside him without trouble.

I had to pull up short to avoid the Viper on the ensuing right, but he braked early for Portier and I cruised by him for third place. I assumed he would pass through the tunnel, but instead, he rammed my left-rear corner panel causing a little trepidation, but no damage.

Based on your write-ups and what I had seen thus far, I assumed the R390 would brake early for Nouvelle Chicane. He did--go figure. I did the same and followed him through Piscine. I passed on the next right, but he ran up on my left side on the following left, keeping me against the wall and then along side him until he braked for La Rascasse. I passed him on the inside and never saw him again.

I was -1.698 behind the C8 at the S/F.

While I had the Spyker in my sights up Beau Rivage and through Massanet, I was too far back to think of passing at Casino. In typical AI fashion, he slapped the left wall as he came out of Casino giving me a good run at him down the hill. I outbraked and passed him at Mirabeau, but he decided to tag my rear end as I rounded the corner. Aside from a little under-the-breath rumbling, I came out no worse for it as I headed down to Loews, fearing further retaliation. I did see his front bumper as I rounded Loews, but no contact was made. A quick check in the rear-view mirror as I entered the tunnel showed the Spyker far enough behind that I was in the clear unless I screwed up. The tires now being up to temperature meant that the rest of the lap should play out like a practice run. It did, and the rest, as they say, was history. MOV: +4.370

Splits were as follows:
L1T1: 37.311
L1T2: 1'26.695
L2T1: 29.339
L2T2: 1'17.924

See you all in the paddock!

Great write-ups everyone, it all sounds too familiar…

I’ve yet to see any split faster than mine:
Lap #1
T1: 0’36.700
T2: 1’24.389

Lap #2
T1: 0’29.585
T2: 1’17.209

Which is especially surprising on lap#1 because of my costly mistake on turn #1 (probably 0.3-0.5sec’)

My PB in practice was: 1’42.920 which took me about 300miles to achieve. (T1: 0’28.955, T2: 1’16.161)

Also it looks like next round will be just as fun, this time in a track that I didn’t even run once. (I actually sat down yesterday for 30’ min and watched NASCAR)

Wow, that's about 2.5" faster than my best practice run, though my second race lap was within 0.5" of practice.

That being said, I only have about 350 miles on my practice car in total, for the preseason and the first two rounds....

[edit] Dang, does anybody but me find themselves waiting impatiently for the results? And that's even though I haven't finished in the top 5 yet....

I'm always waiting impatiently for results in any challenge I have ever raced in :P

I'm checking every time I walk past the computer :p

all in all GREAT race guys. awesome run deuce, that is just retarded fast. the BMW looks like it was made for this track. well, we'll see how these guys handle their weight. :D

Wow, 2C, that was quick! I had no idea the 'wagon had it in her.
Nice showing, too, by the bimmers and hondas!

Damn! Great racing Deuce. 👍

Congrats to team BMW. :) Rear wheel drive must have been a bonus on this track. Excellent race guys!

I'd also like to give a hearty shout out to my fellow team mate bogitiman. Well done and a nice finish by team Civic.

Seems that old McDonalds wrapper I threw out the window onto Quatro Bros car did the trick. Lucky shot having it stick to your windshield. ;)

Now lets see how the Civic holds up with even more weight added. Man, I better get on my rubber suit and hop in the steam room. I need to lose a few pounds.

I'm honored to be your teammate, deuce. We're at the front and back, I guess.

:p

Smoking run, Deuce! And well done by both Team BMW and Team Civic.

My teammate and I aren't following in our real-life counterparts' footsteps, but we're running consistently. Good job, ///M-Spec! Perhaps with some minimum-weight changes the Virtualtime Acura TSXs will be up where they belong. We're looking forward to a more open track where we can get some flow going!

"dominating" ???

Thanks! ;)

I am glad to not have more weight added this week, though!

Nice racing, everyone!! :D

Deuce, that time is smokin'

It's great to see the results looking completely different from last week ... the competition is fierce :trouble:

Wow. This week really shuffled everybody. Competition is really out there.

Great time Deuce. 👍 And to everyone else that ran.
