Yes, but that should be done privately between the two of you. Public discussion of full lap times is supposed to wait until the results are in. T-times only until then.

You got me confused…

This is what I thought were the rules:
Splits time only on the public board but between teammates everything goes: hot laps and race time.

Correct:

bobman posted his full lap time in his post above. I see he has since edited it out.
👍
Perhaps that's why you're confused?

FWIW, I didn't think we were supposed to discuss full lap times with even our teammate until the results were posted.

ylg, can we get an official ruling on this?

I ran practice and my race all in one sitting this morning. I haven't raced Hong Kong much, but I find it pretty enjoyable. After about 45 mins of practice, I was at:

28.444
59.624

Setting weren't too difficult. Pretty much the same as I'd used at Trial Mountain, except for the gears: 1st-4th set a bit tall, 5th and 6th very short. I seemed to gain more time by eliminating shifts, than by getting more acceleration out of short gears. Plus it helps to keep the wheels spin under control. The kerbs here are super-slippery, and it's easy to lose time spinning any tire that's under power on 'em ...

Anywho ...

I wasn't feeling too well (it's 🤬 hot here), but I decided to do the race before I forgot my way around :p

My concentration was off during the first stint, but I pulled it together in the second stint. In hindsight, I should have pitted at the end of lap 4 and regrouped, instead of waiting until the end of lap 5 ... oh well :p

Lap 1: Touched the wall on the exit of the first fast right kink
Lap 2: Touched the wall on the exit of the first fast right kink (anyone see a pattern forming here? ). Had another slight touch exiting the hairpin.
Lap 3: Touched the armco on the exit of the second fast right kink (decided to go for variety) My tires are yellow now, and they're losing grip
Lap 4: Touched the wall on the exit of the first fast right kink
Lap 5: Clean! I pitted at the end of this lap, by my calculations, the pitstop cost me about 25 seconds or so.
Lap 6: Clean!
Lap 7: Clean!
Lap 8: Clean! Fastest lap (28.450 / 59.599), 0.110 off my practice lap
Lap 9: Clean!

Like I said, the first stint was craptastic, but I'm pretty happy with the second stint. I finished 1'09 down on the leader (Takata NSX, I believe). I didn't see another car the whole race.

@TheCracker:Just curious, did you pit during your race? You mentioned tire wear not being a problem ... mine were leaning toward orange at the end of lap 5 :p

It's going to take me alot of time to get what I want. I'm having trouble getting clean laps. I don't even know what my splits are. I got frustrated and turned the game off. Driving while ticked at the world is not recommended. Tomorrow is another (and final) day.

Which part of the track are you having trouble with, bleu?

teammates may discuss...that is what teammates are for. but they must do so via PM or some other private method

Completed my race, bu twon't be able to submit full details until Late, late tomorrow night... I am nearly passing out, and have to be up real early tomorrow... not to return home until late tomorrow night (ugh!).

So, I am asking (also in PM) if I can just submit the broad details, to submit final and full details tomorrow night past the deadline. I did finish all of the 9 laps, and had 3-4 errors costing me a good 5 seconds total... one of them was brutal and might be worth a DQ...

anyways... I'll submit full race time.

@Luxy: clean your inbox, I can't send you a pm.

Setup is a big problem for me. Fast straights and corners no less than 90°. Wonder if I should set them short or long. And since it's a flat course, suspension isn't a problem.

Track problems is as follows:
1. Before this Round, I think I may have driven this course a total of 5 laps. Knowledge is weakness.
2. I'm either taking corners too slow or too fast and hitting the walls. I can't find that happy medium.

I'll do the best I can considering it's the last day. I can't guarantee how clean it'll be. I'm definitly in the back of the pack this week.

Braking early, and turning in early were the keys for me, and trail braking seems to work really well around here :p

For the first fast right kink, I found the safest approach to be to turn in a little bit while still under power, then brake just a little bit once I was sure I wasn't going to hit the inside wall, and stay off the gas until the car straightens out.

For the first 90-degree right after T2, the fastest way through for me was to brake early, and clip the inside kerb fairly aggressively. For all the 90-degree stuff, slow in really pays off, as all of them lead onto a straight or another 90.

Hope that helps a bit ... good luck 👍

Race completed, PM was sent to YLG.

Extra 70kg.

200 A-Spec points race.

Line up and results:
(#)- Position when race started.

+00.000 Nissan XANAVI NISMO GT-R (JGTC) ’03 (1)
+05.140 Nissan MOTUL PITWORK Z ‘04 (3)
+08.313 Honda Castrol MUGEN NSX (JGTC) ’00 (2)
+08.646 Nissan XANAVI HIROTO GT-R (JGTC) ’01 (5)
+11.157 Nisan CALSONIC SKYLINE (JGTS) ‘00 (4)
+1 lap VW Golf V GTI ’05 (6)

Very disappointed with my race, not as clean as I wanted and not as fast. Best lap was 1 full sec’ slower than my BP.

Incidents:
Lap #2: Turn #3 (over the bridge) hit the inside wall and than the outside wall coming out.
Lap #4: last turn, probably a small touch with the wall when exiting.
Pit at the end of lap #5
Lap #7: on the left turn leading to T1, hit the outside wall exiting.
Lap #8: XANAVI pass me from the left at the S/F line. We are door to door on turn #1. Maybe little advantage for me there.
Lap #8: right as he passes me I touch the wall coming out of the fast bend.
Lap #8: the MOTUL PITWORK Z hit me from behind about 3 times between the bridge and T1.
Lap #8: finally on the long straight he passes me cleanly but than I hit him hard on the hairpin and get to a complete stop :guilty: . (He was about 7-car length in front of me and I was sure I had a clear path)

GL everyone,

am i the only one whos not haveing it difficult at this race? i think im tasting the podium again.

I definitely had trouble here. My practice laps were consistent. Not smoking fast, but consistent. My race on the the other hand went terribly. I didn't have any big smacks - certainly not any that would lead to a flag - but overall I just drove poorly.

Part of the problem was that after the first couple laps were down, I realized I've never pitted in GT4. Not just never pitted at HK, I mean never pitted. So I didn't know what it was like. Also, I had no idea where the HK pits were, so I lost time on lap 5 looking for the pit and missed it anyway. So I went around to lap 6 with slightly cooked tires, then only got to run 2 laps on the cold tires before the race ended. If I had pitted on lap 4 it would have meant much better total time for me but I didn't think ahead enough.

I got lapped by the rabbit(s) while I was in the pits; I held off some of the rest of the field from putting mme down, but I only got in 8 laps.

I didn't bother with race T times, but my best race lap was almost 1.5 seconds off my best practice lap, and with the tire cycle in there my average was lousy too.

Well Luxy, I heeded your advice and took the corners as you said. I knocked 1-1.5 seconds off my lap times. 👍 I changed my setup just a little bit as well. So I decided to run my race. I was scared I might not get in because I had a Ford but I was able to.

THE FIELD:
+00.000 '03 Nissan Xanavi NISMO GT-R (fast little bugger. If it wasn't for him, I would have done 9 laps)
+20.655 '00 Honda Castrol Mugen NSX
+21.860 '00 Nissan Calsonic GT-R
+22.445 '04 Nissan Motul Pitwork Z
+22.972 '01 Nissan Xanavi Hiroto GT-R
+ 1 LAP '03 FOrd Focus ST170

The race turned out a whole lot cleaner than I expected.
Lap 2: Brushed wall after fast right. Tapped wall at exit of last corner.
Lap 4: Took wrong line and fishtailed the wall before T1.
Lap 5: PITS.
Lap 7: That speedy bugger bumped me after passing T2.
Lap 8: Brushed wall after fast right. Hit curb wrong and got thrown out wide. Hit wall after T2.

Hoping for a top 7 finish.

I decided to try and improve my overall time by not pitting-- I was only yellow around lap 5.

Bad idea.

I ended up with 8 laps, and my last 2 laps were so bad that I could have pitted during them and only suffered slightly.

Yuuuuuuck.

There's always next week. :D

...the race is 9 laps long, and you may likely be lapped. IF the entire field of competitors is lapped, then all will remain the same. however if one or two competitors completes all 9 laps, for the ones that only complete 8 laps i will take the average time of the fastest lap, and slowest lap (that isnt the first lap) and add it to your total race time, this way, everyone is accounted for as running 9 laps.

when you submit i will need all your individual lap times and your total time, along with lap count. thanks for playing along guys.

any questions feel free to ask.
On behalf of those of us that had to pit (I assume all the FF cars, unless they chose to run on red tires  ), might I humbly request that you also not use one of the laps associated with the pit stop? The pit lap is obviously much longer, and the lap immediately following the pit is nearly the same deal as the starting lap. Neither would really be indicative of a ninth run lap.

Thank you.

I already brought that issue…

it is an 8 lap race unless someone finishes 9 laps, THEN and only then does the lap average come into play, and i will pick the slowest lap that is a normal lap, not a pit lap or the first one.

Since i have no way to post over the weekend i have to post during the week and didn't want to give too much away to those (probably most) who haven't yet raced. I was hinting at it not being a problem - as long as you do pit. :sly:

My first stint, upto lap 5 when i pitted, went fine.

On lap 6 I was lapped by the Xanavi GT-R going into the corner before the back straight.

On lap 7 the next two cars came up to lap me just as i was going through turn 2 - the fast right-hander. The first came up behind me and rammed me from behind into the wall bouncing into the path of the second car who span me almost right round (cheers guys! 👍 )

On lap 8 cars 4 & 5 caught me at the end of the long back straight. Car 4 passed me with no trouble, but car 5 decided to use me as a brake and rammed me into the barriers at the hairpin 👍

I clipped the wall on the exits of a few corners - none of these would have damaged the car in reality and all of them cost me time in the game. I guess on a circuit like this 'kissing' the wall is inevitable.

Apart from these last few laps the rest of it went well, some un-tested changes to gearing before the race made my fastest race lap quicker than any i'd achieved in testing.

I don't recall ever doing any kind of race in GranTurismo where i've been lapped - if we do any more of this series in similar circumstances - i'll know to keep out of the AI's cars way when they come to lap, since they can't be trusted to behave.

YLG, I don't know if ///M-Spec sent you a message, but unfortunately he was a DNS this weekend.

ok guys i have the PM's im wating on links breakdown, ill have the results in full by tonight.

sorry YLG and everyone but i think i have to opt out of this competition. with work being more busy and everything else i should be doing i don't have enough time for the amount of racing i would like to do. at least i won't worry me ex teammate who dropped out after 1 race or so.

Sorry for the delay guys, yesterday was just hella busy for me, I didn't get in until 3 am ... and have now only been awake about 30 minutes...

First thing first though, I submitted my details, I actually only had 3 incidents, one of them was on lap 4 in the fast right kink, I grazed the inside of the wall which pinballed me out to the outside wall, I think I lost almost 3-4 seconds from that. And memory did not serve me well, because other than that I only had two more wall brushes, and they were very insignificant, only costing me a total of about 0.500 or so. Luckily I read Luxy's post about pitting on 5 instead of 4... plus all my experience from GT3 told me that when racing an odd number of laps, make the second stint the longer one. :)

I don't think that helped my podium position anyways, my 2nd, 3rd, 7th and 8th lap were about 2 seconds from what I expected to be doing. I only managed 3 laps that actually felt good. Once again I pulled my fastest lap on the final lap, although this time it is not making me feel better about my race.

good race guys. sheesh my little protege is getting heavier and heavier lol. big congrats to bobman on his 2nd win, good strong race. and to my other fellow podium finisher luxy (no suprise) man you are running one good consistent season. honorable mention to my fellow underpowered currently over weight, protege teammate, good race man. i know i had to wrok HARD to get any faster.

Nice runs, everyone  Bobman, I've got your trophy right here .... *pulls out one extra large acme anvil* ... you deserve it!! :D ;)

Nice race everyone. Smokin' times up there on the podium! Congrats! 👍

To my Protege teammate, YLG, nice race man!

So, spill the beans. Who pitted?

My time is the only one that says (8 laps) and based on earlier posts, I know I'm not the only one to get lapped.

Did the 'non-pitters' make it a full nine laps? Did anyone that pitted not get lapped?

???

i pit, didnt get lapped. i think it was the field differences. i think those that ran with the field where the NSX won, didnt get lapped, i think the ones that ran with the supras winning did.
