Thx, I‘m disappointed since my hot laps were way faster. :ouch:
sub 14.000 and sub 32.000

Everybody's hot laps were faster. I guess tyre wear is that effective.

OK, I re-ran the event in my practice car a couple times, just to experiment and see some speed points. This time I got a slightly different field, with the Spoon S2000 subbing for the Falken D1 RX-7. Also in this group the R34 took the win rather than the Ruf. 199 A-spec points in the purse.

First run was with the car set up just like the race car:

MOL: -12.163" - 7 seconds better than the first run!
ET: In fact about 0.6 second worse than official run!
T1: 14.3-14.5"
T2: 32.7 - 33.4"
Vmax @ braking for hairpin: 99-102 mph
Vmin @ hairpin: 39-40 mph
Vmax @ braking for last turn: 114-118 mph
Vmin @ last turn: 79-81 mph
Vmax @ Finish line: 95-100 mph

Then I reset the transmission to default as an experiment, and reran against the same field. My fast lap on this run was within a few tenths of my fastest lap in practice. I managed to pass the Spoon S2000 at Turn 5 on lap 2, but at the hairpin on lap 4 he shoved me off line and retook 5th. I had been pressuring the Mines Evo up to that point but never got to make a move on him.

MOL: -11.302" - 8 seconds better than the first run!
ET: About 0.3 second better than official run
T1: 14.2-14.4"
T2: 32.5 - 32.9"
Vmax @ braking for hairpin: 99-103 mph
Vmin @ hairpin: 37-40 mph
Vmax @ braking for last turn: 115-117 mph
Vmin @ last turn: 78-81 mph
Vmax @ Finish line: 95-100 mph

How do these speeds compare to those of you who've finished out of the basement?

Here's the speeds from my practice lap (13.8, 31.7) ... can't seem to use the Analyzer for the full race replay:confused:

Start / Finish
VMax: 158 kph / 98 mph

Turn 1
VMax: 180 kph / 112 mph
VMin: 70 kph / 43 mph

Turn 2 (hairpin)
VMax: 163 kph / 101 mph
VMin: 62 kph / 38 mph

Turn 3
VMax: 127 kph / 79 mph
VMin: 102 kph / 63 mph

Turn 4 (hairpin)
VMax: 168 kph / 104 mph
VMin:62 kph / 38 mph

Turn 5
VMax: 188 kph / 117 mph
VMin: 121 kph / 75 mph

Looks like you're on pace to me, Duke. In fact, since your times are from actual race laps, I'd say you're doing pretty well. It seems a little odd that our speeds are so similar, but the split times are so different :odd:

Thanks, Luxy! I thought I had saved my fast practice lap as a replay, but in fact it saved the whole practice session - 17 minutes! I didn't bother watching through the whole session to find the splits for my best practice lap. I also didn't bother with the analyzer for the races; I just paused the replay and noted the splits, then again to note the Vmax and Vmin numbers at the 3 straights/2 turns.

My fastest race lap out of all three races (and yes, I submitted my official time on Thursday after my first and only official run) ended up being about 0.3" slower than my fastest practice lap, though I had only practiced a total of about 20 laps before I ran the race. On average they were 1" slower.

It seems that most of my shock value came from the different AI field I drew in my official race; it made 7-8.0" difference in my MOL despite the fact that my 3 total ETs were all within <1.0" of each other.

Those Vmax and Vmin speeds are on par with what I was seeing.

At this point I pause to again give kudos to yourlocalgod on the job that he did in getting these cars to produce such similar numbers. 👍

I'm sure it is because it is late ;) , but I was just about to ask what "MOL" was when I realized it was Margin of Loss. :dunce:

Duke, it sounds like you had a very different starting grid. From what I've seen, most of the rest of us had a similar field. :odd:
MOL (notice how quickly I just adapted that? ) doesn't matter ultimately, as it's the final time that counts, but such different grids could certainly play a factor in race performance and outcomes--four laps of 'free and clear' will always be quicker than four laps of paint swapping and tiptoeing.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the course of the series. Hopefully, things will balance out for everyone.

Ran the practice race yesterday. Came up against this field.

Nismo R34 Z tune
RUF BTR
Opera S2000
Mine's Lancer
Spoon S2000
Volvo S60 (me)

Lap 1: T1 19.891 T2 38.706
Had to brake hard the last couple turns to avoid rearending the Spoon. Cost me some time and I never made it up.

Lap 2: T1 15.042 T2 33.658
Trying to play catch up, I was too agressive and hurt myself more than helped. No one in this race has changed positions yet.

Lap 3: T1 14.468 T2 33.263
The Spoon S2000 passes the Mine's Lancer in the first turn of this lap. So now I am trying to catch the Mine's. 'I can catch the Mine's.', I thought to myself. Ya right.

Lap 4: T1 14.531 T2 32.889
Still trying to catch the Lancer. Made a mistake! All the cars are noticeably faster on the straights and I can't catch up.

Lap 5: T1 14.815 T2 33.185
I finish 12.942 behind the Nismo. The only car to change position was the Spoon.

I hope to do better in the real series. I am awaiting to see my teammates results to size up how we will do.

I'm eager for ylg to post the results, but your lap times are right in the hunt, it seems.
👍

That's about what I ran per lap. I could have been faster if I didn't have traffic slowing me down for 4 laps. I already know my teammate isn't running the exhibition and prolly the 1st two races, so I'm pulling some heavy weight for right now.

.oO( I wonder if ylg is going to do automotive/team points?)

times pmed to yourlocal at gttimes.com

ok guys i have been out of town this weekend, but ill get the results up today :D

well that was a good fun race and the results are suprising (to me anyway, but of course i dont know whos really good and who is just a recreational racer, like myself.) im warning you guys now, that not all the races will be this competitive with the AI, because some of these races will have to be track meets in the practice mode, since you cant run your garage cars in arcade mode. :( and there arent enough series like the tuner car series that have a closely matched field, all the others that these races seem to be in that allow race tires, seem to be lemans cars. but anyway, without further adeu...

well guys that is that for the practice round, you all get one extra point for participating, and might i suggest (myself included) that the slower teammate in the car get in touch twith the faster teammate, and get some set up tips, and whatnot.....good luck with this week. motegi awaits you, and thank you to all that participated.

Wow, nice tight racing there! That was awfully close, Quattro_bro :D

 YLG, great job organizing and prepping the cars to run so closely, this was a really, really fun race.

Just for reference, here were my lap times:

Practice Lap: 0'59.466

1) 1'06.518
2) 1'01.476
3) 1'00.475

5) 1':01.629"

I'm looking forward to Round 1 myself! But it looks like I better practice a bit more.
:guilty:

Hey, ylg, are you going to do a Team Championship as well as an individual driver's championship? Can't exactly do a Manufacturer's Cup since some makers (well, Acura) have more than one car.

[edit]

I merged the Results thread into this one to keep it simpler in the index. One round = one thread.
👍

I hate how spaces are eliminated once the post is made. But you get the idea.

Use the
Code:
tag to force it to keep the spaces. I pasted the table text into Word, changed the font to Courier (monospaced font), and deleted the dots in favor of spaces (the dots weren't spacing evenly in the post). Then I pasted it back into the message with a [code] tag to keep the indents/alignments.
