I have no idea when I got out of school last year, all I know was that I was very happy. But now... Softmore at highschool its going to suck.

I don't want to take those Tylenol PM, because I won't be able to move in the morning. Im going to sleep or trying now. I need by rest!

Sage, basically, the Silver edition (claims!) to be much faster at graphing compared to the normal edition. My sister used both in her calculas (sp?) class and she says that the silver edition can help alot if you need to graph loads in a short amount of time.

my school sucks. they dont tell us what we need to get. and then on the first day we are told to get lots of crap we'll never use ( i mean come on who uses color pencils when you only do black and white work?). and i have two math classes the first semester of school this year. (hey if you dont like the fact that i didnt turn in 27 out of the maximum 26 freaking assisngments you are allowed to not turn in, deal with it!).
im just glad it starts on the 27th.. i think... of this month.
but my school does have an awsome programming class (heh the only class ive got an A in out of any of my classes in the past few years)

I've got two words for you : "Three month holday" :) All the studying was worth it and high school is safely behind me. College is starting Sept. 15th.

My supplies should amount to about 300 - 400 euros at the most. Mostly books and photocopies.

You all suck. Im going to school now!! :( Laters.

I haven't bought anything yet because I didn't get a school supply list. :)

School doesn't finish untill November or December here, and starts Febuary.

I start on September 1st, but we don't get out until June 17th or something. It's total bull**** that we're starting at 8:25 this year and ending at some stupid time like 3:27 and 40 seconds or something. I'm gonna be at school until 7:00 at this rate.

School starts later this year, instead of like 8 weeks off we get 9 because labour day is later. I dont think I need to get anything, I have all of my binders and I have pens. All I needed to do was to go to Mccarthey (which is such a ripoff) and buy the stupid crested 'st.joes' golf shirt and dress shirt. Our stupid school decided to change the uniform like last year, and all dress shirts have to have the school logo, so I didnt buy the new shirts last year but I wanted one this year and theyre like 40 50 dollars for a dress shirt its pathetic

We just have to turn up with pen, pencil, rubber (eraser), few colours if you want, ruler, protracter, sometimes compass and a scientific calculator for maths. Our uniform is a school polo shirt and black trousars. You should wear black shoes but I know many (including myself) who get away with black trainers.

Famine your school has got DVD recorders! Mine is still struggling to get the hang of magic white boards and projector combination (or whatever you call them).

No - we have one DVD recorder. The one I just bought.

Our department has a single Interactive Whiteboard (there's four more in the school), but every science room now has a data projector (only 3/8 are ceiling mounted).

Ooh...those interactive board thingies are fun.

We start school on the 19th, so I've got another....*count*....10 days to finish off summer reading. So far I've bought a few shirts and books for school, coming out to about $150 (sold back a bunch of books last year). I'll probably buy another couple binders and some paper for another...10 bucks?

And...all you people getting calculators....If you can, I'd really reccomend the TI-89. Much spiffier than the 83 (or 84). It does calc much easier than the 83, graphs faster, and does all your algebra for you. That way...you only have to figure out the hard part, and it does the math for you. But...some classes/schools dont let you use an 89, and the ACT doesn't either. But they ARE allowed on all SAT's, and it's downright cooler (plus they just came out with the 89-titanium).

I was just looking at the TI-89 today – Talk about sticker shock. ;)

The thing with me is that I mostly dislike graphing calculators, because I've seen way too many smart students become "calculator dependent" (losing the ability to do simple math because they punch it right into the calculator). In fact, I made it through Calculus A with a regular old scientific calculator just fine... I actually borrowed a graphing calculator from one of my friends for the Calc final, but I got fed up with it and used my scientific calculator instead, because I like doing problems all the way through on my own. Imagine learning linear equations in algebra with a graphing calculator – You wouldn't learn a thing about how to actually get that line.

But, I'm assuming I can't go on forever without a graphing calculator, so I'm getting one this year.

Ya...I know some people that are too dependent on their calculators, too. But the main thing that I like about graphing calculators is the big display. With a scientific calculator, you get a few memory slots, but other than that there's no way you see previous numbers. With the 83, you could refer back a few lines visually and even further using the ans key. Withe the 89, you can see the entire equation you plugged in in a readable format, and you can go back up to refer back to them, get the exact numbers back, etc. The graphing part gets helpful when it comes to graphing trig, polar, and espeically parametric equations (and 3-d just for fun). But overall, I like the graphing calc because I can look back to see that I've typed stuff in correctly.

Yeah, we have to finish the summer reading!

The TI-89 Titanium has more memory too, which means more games :D Last year, my TI-83 SE somehow crashed on me, so I could not use it anymore and relied on my trusty scientific calculator. The TI calculators are great, if they work properly. Got it fixed, but it does not run as well.

School starts on the 19th for us and all I have gotten was some textbooks, some binder paper, 6 binders, along with dividers, and the TI-89 Titanium for $200ish.

well, i have Math Final today. so HA! then i'll have like 2 weeks off i think before Fall starts. And being in the Great Sunshine State, and being enlisted in the National Guard, i get 100% tuition paid, and then extra money to help with books and such. Then i'll probably quit my job and get on financial aid. But i might keep my job. we'll see how broke i get.

I have supplies from last year...my main supply needed for this year is 1 1992 Mazda MX-3 GS 5 speed, which I might have later in the week.

Yep, I'm one of those calculator dependent students, I would've failed the final without my calculator, I did everything on it, my friends liked it so much, they each bought the same one for that final.

Man, I need to start becoming as smart as you. I need some tips, f00!

That means, yes Sage, give me your tips on becoming an A student. 👍

I already started August 5th. :( It also doesn't help that I got screwed out of a month of summer vacation by moving from NJ to SC. The supplies I really needed:

a new binder *my teachers told me I needed one for every class; one's more than enough for me :p ;I already have to carry all my stuff around because my school doesn't let the kids use the damn lockers, so why carry more than necessary :grumpy:
new notebooks and book covers

Yeah, carrying a binder, notebook (if you need one), textbook and probably a workbook for every single class is a pain in the butt to carry around.

1/2 inch binders are works of wonder :D

Ya know i have to brains to do well in skool cuz im in all advanced classes but i barely get by and then at the end of the year my teachers tell me im going to be in normal classes but i end up in advanced again. I just go with the flow. I have to read a long book in atleast 2 weeks and i dont like doing that but if it aint her oh well.

I'm going to 8th Grade on the 24th. My days of freedom are numbered.
What's wrong with freedom f00. Your supposed to post your supply list.

I'm not sure if I should get the 7 binders that I'm supposed to or should I get 4 zippered binders, or just one mega large binder.
:dopey:

Sorry to make everyone in this thread angry with my useless comment but....
School Sucks

last year, I fell asleep every single day in school, beign so bored. The same stuff every day, just listen to some boring teacher talk, and do stupid homework, or even stupider projects.

Sorry, just had to let that out.

Edit: Oh yeah, I'm going to be for a second time a Senior in high school. I have been failing just about every class since I was a freshmen. I suck at school.

Edit: Oh yeah, as for supplies, I don't have anything, and I don't plan on buying any since I spended my whole money on Cd's and on my car.

I bet your going to be able to get an awsome job when your older 👍
(I wouldnt recommend screwing off this time :ouch: )

I'm no straight-A student, and I think most of the stuff I've learned in highschool so far is complete BS (what their teaching us, how they teach it, and who is teaching it ) But I'm going to actiually try a little harder this year so I dont get stuck going to a crappy college and working at a crappy job every day for the rest of my life :scared:

My school supplies? I hope to find a pen on the ground on my way in

24 teachers quit (not retired, just quit) my highschool this year, about 9 of them had just started last year, and quit at the end of the year. My world history "teacher" got suspended half way through the year (for the 3rd year in the row) for being a general dumbass/throwing a desk at a kid. I cant wait to go back to that craphole! 👍
