awesome roczx
Hell yeah. Awesome vid.
I really can't get over how skinny the tires look on the car.
I have 215s on my beater and they look wider even though the car itself is bigger than the 86.
And what's with speeding up the video in a few places?
-> If I was ever a journalist, I would like to see the Euro-spec GT 86, JDM-spec 86, USDM-spec FR-S, and the BRZ side-by-side and take a photo of all of them...
The tires are great news. They'll be nice and cheap.

They won't be cheap if you buy them from the factory. They'll be cheaper if you buy them from a store, but then it won't be exactly the same formula despite the same name. There's no vitamins in off-the-shelf tires. They will last longer, however, because they're not made of bubblegum that is quiet and grips safely in cold temperatures. The tires are great news. Your best bet will be to simply buy sportier off-the-shelf tires when they need replaced because they'll be cheaper.
EDIT: The Prius tires are cheaper for Toyota, not for us, because they already have a warehouse full of them. I'd bet money they cost us $200 a pop, which is flipping outrageous.
Well of course it is. They've got a business to run. Our responsibility as consumers is to convince them to make their stuff cheaper by buying what we need from somebody else until they do.

200 is all you need really. My car has like 90hp. I'd love more torque but the power is adequate (You just don't pass on highways). My dad's Mini feels like a rocket in comparison with just 163hp, and my uncle's G8 with 360hp is deceptively fast. When you have that much horsepower, you don't really realize that you're already doing 58mph in a 45.
The FR-S should have plenty of power for its size and weight, and it'll probably feel like it too.
Who cares about average consumer? These won't be volume sellers anyway. You and I both know this, but what about the average consumer in America that don't really research car performance?

I "scheduled" a test drive today while getting the oil changed on the WRX.
I saw a set of 215/45/17 re960 in the service area and said that these would fit a BRZ, the guy at the desk told me and the GF to come back in January and we could try them both out.
He was pretty sure of it.
Scion is supposed to go on sale later, I thought?
