You could just run an amplifier setup with an iPod. Then you won't need an actual radio.
Holy cow it's tiny!Good size comparison photo:

Is it me, or did the blue car in that second video rocket out of that corner faster than a 200hp car should?
CC570I'll buy the car and it will never see a race track. The radio will prolly never be turned on rather not pay for it.
I'm guessing it has a USB charging port as well.Or you could plug in a cable and not kill your phone from 40 minutes of wireless streaming.

I think the main reason they would sell the car with a radio delete is so that people can install whatever radio they want.
Which goes back to what I was saying earlier.
But then you would have to wire the whole car for speakers and wire the unit itself, which would be a waste of time.
Most people get radio delete to save weight.
As YSSMAN already said, Scion's practice is to ship all cars without a radio and let the buyer choose at the dealer, who then installs it. Audio can either be an important consideration for Scion's target customer, or a good way to save a few hundred bucks. That's the jist of it.

I wish more carmakers did that. In fact, I wish they did that with a bunch of other equipment too. I understand that some stuff has to be done at the factory rather than the dealer, so if you make a spec decision you'd have to stick with it unlike the radio thing, but every car range, or at least at the cheaper end of the market, should have a basic model with virtually zero equipment and sold for a clear few grand cheaper than anything else in the range.
Here, their two upgrade levels are Pioneer units. The second tier is a pretty nifty multi-function head unit and the third tier is an all-in-one satnav unit.Don't Scion use Bose? The buyer wouldn't care that much about audio if they let them put Bose in there![]()
When I worked at a Honda dealer years ago, they had a Civic on the lot that was as bare bones as they get. No radio, no A/C, roll up windows, etc. I guess the dealer was required to have at least one of them on the lot. It sat there forever too.
