Tried this with my r32 gt-r vspec n1, not really fast enough.

**EDIT** vspec '09 gtr is the way to do it! Wind back the top speed to about 160mph, keep it clean and get your racing lines spot on with laps of 1.27/1.28 and it's easy in the end!

Ps. Remember to NOT change the oil if your buying new, it'll take the power over 500bhp!

Hey mate, I'm stuck on this one too.

So far I've only tried with the GTR Concept Tokyo Show at 487 HP + weight reduction stage II and am struggling to lap under 1.30.000.

Missing ~8 secs on the line.

Skylines weighs tons, which lead me to think the best car would be the one that come as close as possible to the weight limit... Any thoughts?

I just posted about this in another forum I to am stuck I got 5th def had 4th but smacked a wall I am doing it with the GT-R V-Spec Nur II '02 from the dealer. It weighs 1264kg I too think its going to come down to weight.

However there is one very special GTR it is a one off street legal rear wheel drive wide body GTR. Problem is since its a standard car good luck getting the damn thing. It was made by Nissan (I think) to be a street legal car so they could use one just like it in a real race. I remember having it in a previous GT and it rocked. I think it is the answer!!!

Or anything that gets down to that magic 1100!!!

I got 3rd with my 491hp R32 GTR. I fiddled with suspension settings and got down from 7th to 3rd. I'm stuck on what to mess with to get 1st now...set the top speed to 162mph. It will top out on the straight but only for 2 or 3 seconds. Not worth raising the top speed and losing the acceleration I need.

Who has gotten the furthest? Sound like smoking cones got 3rd or 2nd? Is this correct? If so I think you may be able to win with my car as it weighs less.

How do you detune? because I didn't know you could and need to reduce the HP on my RX-7 since after an oil change it has too much HP for the race! Also by detuning I could get another 5hp out of this car by upgrading then detuning!

Please everyone Please post your weight along with the HP when you talk about this!

Again I think the magic is going to be finding the lightest GTR

Got the gold in a GT-R 07. Dont change the oil if its new, adding the smallest exhaust puts you at 493 HP. Do all the weight reductions you can and add a sport suspension. I easily golded this on second run with a DS3 controller

Got it second time round with the '09. Got it to 492 hp, all settings off apart form TCS at 1

oh while I was posting someone answered the question nice

I got gold with this car and all upgrades except 487hp. Took me three tries but I was able to do and not by much, passed the ford gt right before the last stretch on the last turn.

Was able to do this with the GT-R Concept Tokyo 2001 version. 487hp with stg3 weight and all other upgrades including tranny.

OH BTW....you dont get a prize car for getting all golds on these special events:grumpy:

Just got 2nd with gtr'09! It'd defo the way to go! Aim for 1.27m laps!

Yeh you do!!! You get several prize cars its called several million dollars and buying 5-6 cars to complete the challenge LOL!

Do I have to buy a regular '09, or do you think can it be a Spec-V? The lower starting weight should help, right? I already have a regular '09, but I can't detune it. I really don't want to buy a duplicate if I don't have to. :yuck: I had to buy the car for every one of these races, including an R34 that won't keep up. :ouch:

Already found an answer:

Tried this earlier in the same car, the R34 you've got, and I couldn't do it, even with huge setup changes and everything maxed out in terms of tuning - best I could manage was 2nd, still 13s away from the GT40.

Try it with a GTR VSpec, the new model, and it becomes a lot easier; ended up going from 13s down in the R34 to winning by 4s in the GTR. Hope that helps.

The new spec v will do the trick. Caught the first car at the 4th lap end.

it sucks that this race basically requires a brand new Skyline, why didn't they just make that the only car to use? I don't think my R32 will ever get 1st.

sucks... I already have a full modded v-spec with engine upgrades and can't get it below the hp amount... Should I buy another v-spec, or plain gtr? Best i could get was 2nd in an R34 Nur trough 1:29-1:30's

You could possibly get away with it but I wouldnt risk it, I had the same issue so bought another, then changed oil and found myself with too much hp!... So bought a third! God bless the extra money!

lol... just bought another spec v in the same black opal pearl... I guess I'll trade it...

I had black so went for the white! Most of my garage is black n white! Except the ferrari's of course!

Just won it with the spec v... crazy how that car puts its power down so much different than the r34 nur... easy win..

I have the Amuse Carbon R, the lightest GTR available (RWD). Hopefully I can detune it enough to try it. Or maybe it won't let it in because it's Amuse not nissan. I'll find out when I get home.

don't think its allowed..

I don't get it, I'm getting worse! I was hitting 2nd place constantly but needed the extra push for first, so I bought all of the weight reduction stuff and upped my top speed... and now I can't beat 6th place :(

As someone suggested, use the GT-R Spec-V and buy the power option to bring it to 492 BHP and get a custom FC tranny.

Tune the tranny to 168 MPH top speed.

Won it easy with a GT-R 07 and took the weight down.
