I think the speed is 162. I'm going to try it right now had to buy one though but the reward is worth it.

I tried 162 and the car bounced off of the rev limiter constantly at the end of the straight so I upped it to 168.

Either way, the key is getting through the esses, not the top speed of the car. The group of esses right before Trap 1 is important because you need to get a time of 34.xxx seconds to have a chance at the leader.

The second set of esses before the track goes uphill need to be essentially ran as close to the wall as possible.

As someone suggested, use the GT-R Spec-V and buy the power option to bring it to 492 BHP and get a custom FC tranny.

Tune the tranny to 168 MPH top speed.

D'oh! I made two fatal mistakes. The first was not switching back to my soft tires (damn the game for changing it) and the second was having way too high a top speed. I'm not sure why it was up there. Must have had a brain fart.

Read your post and placed 1st place with a lead of 4 seconds, thanks! :D
 
Ugh I must really suck. I can't get those lap times with this car -_-
 
Did it with an 09 spec-v. All possible non-hp adding mods, with new headers and sport intake. Speed set to 162 (don't worry about the rev limiter bouncing at the end of the straight). Biggest thing is don't touch the walls, and hit the apex's at the final chicane and 180* hairpin. I did a 1:30 first lap and 1.27.5 laps after and got 1st with a couple seconds to spare.

And to everyone reluctant to buy a new GT-R just for this challenge; you will make your money back VERY quick :dopey:
 
I seriously suck at this game I don't know what racing line to take and I'm seriously not doing well. I've tried like 50 times already sigh
 
Is all of this with default setup except for 168 - 162 top speed?
 
did anyone tweak suspensions or anything else? I am having bad luck on this one closest I got was second.

Nope. I'll tell you exactly what I did.

Weight Reduction Stage 3
Window Weight Reduction
Carbon Bonnet
Aero Parts
Sports Air Filter
FC Transmission (Max speed set to 168)
FC Suspension Kit (Ride height -10, -10, everything else default)
Soft Sports Tyres <---- IMPORTANT, do not miss this, the difference is huge

I drove with automatic transmission, TC off (another big difference doing this, it's still very easy to control so don't worry), AS off, ASM off, ABS 1.
 
Update : I ran it with default setup and won easily.
Bought sports air filter and then everything else that didn't increase any power.
 
I wish this was repeatable, but then again it'd be too easy to get rich and lvl up.

I wish they wouldn't get rid of it, it's too fun! I don't care if I don't earn out of it, I just really enjoy the race.
 
Got first in this race by using a GTR spec-v. Followed the regulations. :)

ok i done this 2nd try just bought a 07 nissan gtr new didnt change the oil put on the best tyres u can for the challenge think they were sport soft upgraded the exhaust got it to 491 hp and went to gt auto and done the aero dynamics front rear side etc i think only rear is needed tho as thats all u can modify then go to ur settings and modify the rear downforce to 22 and race u can corner quiet alot beta wid max downforce in the rear and i ended up winning easily by about 4 or 5 seconds ova the ford gt

its that easy
 
Sounds like I need to buy another 07 GTR....too bad they don't let us use the Academy GTR....

The R32 GTR I got now can do maybe 2nd(finished 3rd with 2nd in sight), but still ~15 sec back from the 1st place car.....Pretty much stuck doing 32s or 33s..
 
Omg i did oil change and it autosaved!!! NOOOO!!! I have no more money.

Had to sell the unused GTR SPECV for 47,000 and grinding to make the money again....
 
With an ideal r32 it was tough to get 1:28s, with the 09 vspec I killed at 1:26 a lap with small mistakes.
 
PD needs to get restrictor plates or boost controllers or both. They exist in real life and the boost control exists in Forza and I think in an old GT maybe 3 or 4 so why is it missing in this one? It is very important! I guess they missed it since they never made any races with restrictions like they should have and like they did in old GTs and in Forza so because they made the game to easy to "cheat" (use fast cars) they forgot to give you total control over your HP!
 
GTR '07 with all non power upgrades! (weight reduction, tranny etc. ;)) plus sports soft tires... and you should get it no problem! Some tuning is necessary here 👍

Ok...made enough credits...lets try this again WITHOUT OIL CHANGE! :grumpy:
 
Were you good at the licences?
Then use the Tokyo Concept GT-R, I tuned mine to 483 HP, with Stage 1 weight reduction.

& Sports: Softs of course! Overtook the Ford at the hairpin on the last lap.

Pretty fun challenge! :sly:
 
I bought a GT-R SpecV '09 for this event.
All I did was reducing it's weight as much as possible.

All settings off, except ABS on 1.

After 2 tries I finished in 3rd place. 2nd place is entirely possible but 1st place would need some engine tuning.

That said, it was my first time driving the GT-R in any game and OMG this car is a beast.
If I had 160k in real life money, I'd buy this car with no regrets!
 
Well ... that sucked. I got all other events in 1st try, and for this used a prize R32, modded it to 491HP and 1195kg suspension and tranny and everything. And I just can't get below 1:31 in lap times ... will try with a GT-R now, since I've read what everybody else has written ... it is silly to me, that a GT-R would be actually that much faster ...
 
The furthest I could get with a GT-R R34 Nurb' II was 2nd place, the car up front was around 5 seconds ahead.

I reckon I have made a pretty good tune for the car, and I doubt my driving is letting me down. So should I change car or keep working on the R34?
 
The GTR '09 will do 1:26 second laps, in the lead by the start of the last lap
 
09 V Spec is like flying a spaceship......without driving aids its like driving with aids on....unbelievable how that car finds grip...
 
0.166 away from gold in my first try, but i was averaging about 1.27.5 per lap with GTR spec V. Will try again now.

With GT-R, added exhaust - 492HP, weight removed (still well above my R32), sport suspension, full tranny set to 280kph, sport soft tyres won it in 1st try with ease by good 6 seconds... I consider this ridicoulus ... 1:27 laps no problem ...
 
now with all these identical GTRs being made japans economy must be booming! haha anyone would like to let me borrow one in the christmas spirit? I like the r35s just dont need it right now
