Cape Ring
Max BHP - 197
Min Weight - 800KG
Tyres - Sports Medium or less
FF

Rome Circuit
Max BHP - 246
Min Weight - 1200KG
Tyres - Sports Medium or less
FR/MR/RR

Had a quick go and got up to 7th 1:18.385 on the Rome TT. Don't expect to stay there though.

I recognize some names way down on the leaderboard but I expect they're still getting familiar with the new game.

I've used a Renault Clio Sport - 1:00:375 and a Peugeot 106 rallye - 1:00:090.

I'm thinking to other cars to use but i'll retry with 106 with a better setup. I'm not sure if it is the right car 'cause it is so understeering, but with a LSD and suspension settings I think stop the watch at 57-58 maybe

Guys.

Last night the updating rankings box appeared always but now it never shows so when i improve it never registers. I asked some friends and they say is working for them.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Just got myself a RX8 for the Rome time trial. After a few laps, I only managed 1:20.694 (894th) lol Whopping 3 sec off the leader.
I'll be spending time to tune it and hopefully shave few more seconds from it in coming days/weeks. :)

BTW Chronos-GTS, I see your time on the second page at 16th position atm. Great effort there! 👍

Thanks man. Yes 16th now, didn't take long to drop down.

Going to have to play around with the tuning more. I prefer stock really and not spend time in menus and GT5 menus are a bit of a chore to me. Funny how GT5P quick tune is more indepth and logical to use.

The Kusabi Concept seems to be the car of choice for the front wheel drive time trial. Haven't gotten around to trying it yet.

Can we have the car / Tune you are using?

Running consistent mid 1:20's with the RX-8 (seems to be the car of choice) but I'm keen to see the setup used by anyone with better times??

Discuss....

If you sold your KUSABI Concept '03, like myself, it takes about 35-40 minutes to get up to level 6 and complete the NR-A Roadster event to get it. I just did a few licences, the NASCAR challenge and hopped in a Jag XJ13 to blitz a cup or two and it was done.

Im can get 1.19 in an RX-8 ive slightly tuned on Rome, going to try an RX-7, 30kg heavier but more torque and i can get it to sit on HP limit.

EDIT: I also cant decide if this is the most frustrating, or most fun ive had so far playing GT5. I build up something absurd like a .7 lead on my 1.19.4 ghost coming up to the final two corners, im so far in the lead i feel i can practically sit back in my chair and grin smugly and coast to the finish, but no matter what i do he comes flying back and beats me by about 2 hundreths, its unbelievable. You see him in the mirror and it looks like an unassailable lead. Id swear my ghost is affected by the dreaded rubberbanding if i didnt know that it couldnt be.

Would you mind sharing the 1.19 RX-8 setup?

Sorry for double posting, but have to get this off my chest now.

The 07 RX-8 Type S has 246 HP out of the box. I bought it, made some mods but nothing power related. Took it to the track for the time trial, and now I have 241 HP before I've even driven it. So, I put in some serious laps, checked and found that I was down to 239 HP. Time for an oil change? Sure, I'll take one thanks.

253HP!!!! WTF?! Wasted car that is no longer of any use for the time trial.

Thanks GT AUTO you ********.

End of rant.

I don't think we are going to see exact details of other racer's tuning details as it's a part of skills needed and advantage one gets over others racers in getting better lap times. I can totally understand someone holding onto their tune details as top secret.
I just found a comprehensive write up on tuning tips in the tune section of the forums. (link) I'm going to check it out and see if I can tune it for better and not worse. I wish it was stock car race since I'm hopeless at tuning...

Damn... Didn't know you could end up with more HP than stock through oil change. I guess you need to take it for few laps in practice mode to bring down the HP.

Yeah ill post my tune setup when i get back to the PS3, still have a fair bit of fiddling to do. LSD is untouched and camber and toe need alot of work. Fairly sure i can squeeze another second out of it

Cool :) I am useless at tuning the cars :/ have not even managed sub 1.20 with random fiddling with the settings

Well i'm loving it!
I've been tweaking the RX8 all afternoon and managed a 1:18.7 which put me 143rd on the board. :)

I'm a total noob at tuning but this afternoon's tweak session has taught me a lot, and although tedious at times, once I found a comfortable tune I loaded the top guy's ghost and just chased the bugger for hours. Still a good second behind but i'm thoroughly enjoying it.

My tune tune from the 1:18.3 lap. Not gone back for a second go but hope to try later.

Ride Height: Front -20 Rear -20
Spring: 10.0 10.0
Dampers ext: 5 5
Dampers Com: 2 3
Camber Angle: 1.5 1.5
Toe Angle Front 0.25 Rear -0.20

Brake Bal: Front 4 Rear 5
Diff:15/45/25
Aero: 5 Lowest setting. You buy aero parts at GT AUTO where the car wash is.
Transmission speed: 220KPH (which is 136/137 MPH but I don't know what increments MPH has in the game)

Stage 1 weight reduction
Carbon Bonnet (Hood)
Twin plate clutch, flywheel, propshaft

I haven't bought the rigidity improvement (strut brace in my world).

Also wondering if you can run the car a while to lose some BHP and sneak Air filter on or something like that. Then you have the chassis repair thing as well but that seems a myth like damage unlock and such but don't know for certain. Hopefully when you go into these events the car is brought to new condition and that stuff is only for GT mode.

1:18:976 - Luteria Renault Sport V6 24V '01

Still novice at tuning, softened the back end up to stop power oversteer max rear wing and that's about it.....determined not to use the RX8 though :)

Just bought a Clio Sport V6 which, given the greater torque figures, should be a decent contender. Have dropped the weight down to 1217Kg and added all the allowed mods, yet to tune it though. Will post the settings if it's competitive.

That guy in first on Rome does some initial D driving halfway through the track and then disappears on me! Im up to 1:21ish in a rx-8, but then did an oil change so my question is: how many miles will it take to get down to the correct hp? it actually went up after 15 or so laps as the engine got broken in.

Back up to 22nd after dropping down a bit.

Not done much tuning apart increasing the downforce. After many consistent laps there doesn't seem to be any aero drag.

actually rome is quite a bit tricky, so setup isnt very important at first.
driving skills improve your time hardly.

i think iam at pos. 5 atm, was 3rd yesterday, should gimme some laps tonight :)

Had a go this afternoon with Chromatic9 setup but increased downforce to 20 and managed a 1:18.949 after a few laps.

I can stay with your ghost up until that 3rd gear tight right hand corner leading on to the straight I just cannot get my line right through there and loose lots of speed :/

Yeah tuning is not as important, maybe worth 0.5.

It's more about your line and braking, also half way through the lap there's a section where you can carry a lot of speed if you get your angle perfect.

Well done on your lap DannyG

I'll repost this, from the Tuning forums, about the Cape Ring timetrial so you guys can laugh a little.

So... yeah, I tried your setup, and changed it a thousand times until I completely lost my head.

My best time was 0'58 as I already said, but I couldn't do better than 1'01!! No matter how hard I tried or the setting I used. I was so sick of the Kusabi.

Today I bought the Spoon CRZ because I love the interior and took it to this event. It drove SOOO good, even if it lacked a little power compared to the Kusabi. I did 1'00 after two laps without even looking at the setting and with the default gearbox. Didn't pay much attention to it. I went into the replay to take some cool pictures of my new ride and THERE I SAW IT. SPORTS MEDIUM!!!! I had been racing with COMFORT SOFT all day long with the Kusabi... sigh!!

So now I'll try your setup again :) I'm sooooo stupid, how could I not notice!!

Yeah, 10 laps later I'm rank 227... Phew, I was starting to think I was really THAT bad. I'll get to 0'56 with this setup, I think.

47th now, after a little tweaking of the LSD and softening the suspension a little. :) I'll give it another go tomorrow, see if I can get into the top 25.

Has something like this happened to any of you before? It's almost embarrasing, except now I'm much better than before thanks to those crappy tyres.

I'll try to improve my Cape Ring time tomorrow and I'll try to set a time on the Rome one, using your setups as a start, see what I can do. It's a shame I'm not gonna be able to run too much, as I'll be away from my PS3 from the 27th to January 7th :( I'm doing good on the Cape Ring one, and I was really frustrated back in January when the GT Academy came out and I had to play with Dual Shock, it was literally impossible to do a good enough time. Now with a wheel all that frustration is gone and I love time trials :)

Sorry for the long post.

Still low 1:20's at best with the Dual Shock.
Time to break out the DFGT.

How many of you are driving manual?

What's the deal on the Cape Ring leaderboard?

Looks like someone created a load of spam accounts and have probably just done the seasonal races on most of new accounts.
