AS you all know, America and the World suffered greatly on Sept 11, 2001.

I propose that while we gather around to remember that fateful day we remember with thoughts and prayers those who died and those who worked so hard to find them, and those medical personnel who stepped into the gap and patched up the injured, and cried with the families of the dead.

I also propose that we remember our comrades that were born on Sept. 11 and wish them well.

For those about to turn a year older.

:911:WE SALUTE YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

my dad was born on september 11th. my mom and dad got up early that morning, and were watching the news when it happened. it was basically like 'happy ****ing birthday.'

well said gil.

It will be very hard for people to celebrate their birthdays on that day, It is so important to remember all the people who lost their lives and i am sure most of those people would still want people to carry on with their birthday celebrations as long as they spare some time in their day to pay their respects in some way.

how does one go about celebrating their birthday on such a day?
We celebrate life instead of tragedy, birth instead of death. Otherwise, we are giving the terrorists what they want, and then they win. I, for one, will be more careful in my day to day existence, but I REFUSE to live in fear. It may be a little thing. But if we each refuse to be terrified, the message we send is simple, "IF you (terrorists) want a fight, Bring it! If you think you can handle it. Or you can continue to be COWARDS without HONOR, and attack our workplace, our homes, our public transport, our daycares, and hospitals. But, when you are ready to face us like men, and like warriors, we will be ready!"

:911:Again my friends, Happy Birthday, Don't forget the attacks, but don't let ANYONE take your day away from you. ;)

Mind you, seeing September 11, and a smilie at the same time is not going to make everyone happy.

That may be true. I in no way want to trivialize the tragedy of the attacks on the Pentagon and the World Trade center.
I do want to send a clear message that we won't bow to terror.
We won't stop living, and we won't not celebrate the lives of our friends.
