Nice track to drive and test out cars on.

Just ran some a lap each with a 458 Italia and a Viper GTS '13 and the lap times were .052 seconds different, granted neither lap was void of crashes, but still quite amazing considering the length of the track. MP412-C was about 10 seconds faster than both with a few crashes as well.

I really enjoy the track. I'm going to have a lot of fun memorizing the corners (Not being sarcastic) like I did with the Nurburgring. It's a bit tricky since I don't know the proper braking sections and acceleration zones just yet. I'm very glad we finally have the track. I love the special events for it, too! It feels really rewarding when you have a huge combo going on. Just the only problem is when the AI's go 2-wide when you're trying to make a pass on them.

In the first race, I encountered a pale blue Fiat 500 F '68 that is exceptionally fast, compared to other cars. It was a bit tricky to get around without colliding on my second attempt at the track (I lost my combo on my first lap).

Anyway, I stayed true to my word and drove a Lamborghini Aventador before any other car. It was a bit of a stupid idea, since it was fully upgraded, but not tuned. Needless to say, I was sliding EVERYWHERE. But I will enjoy driving other cars here as well as cruising with friends. My only complaints so far is there is a LOT of screen tearing (Very noticeable on the suspension bridges) and the game stutters periodically. I'm sure PD will fix the stuttering soon, but I don't think they will with the screen tearing. Every track has it, but I think Zahara has it the worst. :/

I get a Highway Drive feel from Sierra.

It's like a place to drive "street" vs "track" even if driving a bit "spirited".

The Time Rally event is fun, the cars are not so much racing, but feel like civilians just minding their own business enjoying their own pace, oblivious to the mad man creeping up from behind. Imagine a guy driving like a Butt hole around civilians driving the speed limit more or less

Ai are behaving better (in the Sierra Time Rally at least) I've not been rear ended after cutting in front of them and they haven't side swiped me after I cut in on the side either. They do drive as if they have no idea I'm coming up from behind, at times it even feels like they may be trying to block me (they need to use their mirrors lol), but once I get position they respect it.

Personally, I've got to say that this track is great.

Also, is this the longest track in the whole GT series?

It's one hell of a track. I had a blast barreling down that hill with the AE86. And the Nismo GT-R is pretty cool too. I'm just glad PD finally updated, I was starting to get bored again! :D

Overall, the track is awesome. Long, winding, with a few straights here and there... I've had loads of fun racing here in the FT-1 VGT. I've also done a 2-lap race on the track with the Minolta 88C-V. What a wild ride!

Don't get me wrong I like the jumps especially during the rally event and in rally cars, but I'm just saying it doesn't seem right to see a Veyron or One-77 flying in the air. It seems too arcadey and NFS style. I know the obvious is that you'd slow down before a jump like that if you were casually driving on the road in real life.

Totally agree with this. As a matter of fact, I do slow down enough to keep all tires on the ground.

Ok, so i got to try and Gold poorly the first two rallies:

My impression are:
1) I wish i could try the rally without the SRF... let me crash and retry if i go too fast, dont hold me back with that invisible force...

2) altho i understand the annoyance of those invisible walls ahead of the guard rails... but technically we are not supposed to drive out of the asphalt in the first place... we are supposed to and if we really drive cleanly, we dont have to worry about those invisible walls.

3) i kind of find it funny that every other cars are driving at a careful pace, and there we are trying to zig zag and drive like maniacs... ... its kinda fun... but only because i a chasing for maximum points and time, not because i am a maniac...

1,500,000 is about where i am at after my first try last night... i hope to be more cleans and faster and get above 2,000,000 ...

I really wish i could be rewarded for grinding this loop...

Very fun - some harder corners but nothing stands out as painfully evil, very nice fast flow to it. A real old mix of elevation change and cambers.
Not too sure on the corner numbers - seem to be a few corners ignored - Maybe they are Marshall points... I'll have to return to the track to investigate.
I may be some time...

maybe in the rain - Plenty wet

I updated last night, But didnt have time to try the track out.

I am going to try and set an hour aside tonight to give it a whirl. I thought I would be alot more excited to try this track though

There's far more "driving" needed than you're probably expecting,
A lot of downhill braking zones, off camber/ over rise/ tightening radius corners that take skills to get right at speed

Love it, but the terrible lag in certain parts of the track really makes me think that GT7 can't come any sooner.

Driving the challenge 3 with Ferrari GTO made me think of Driveclub with it's changing weather, arcade style racing and overtaking other cars on a long track at the countryside.

I just love this track so much.

  • Yes it's not that difficult, though there are quite a few technical (and rewarding) corners.
  • It's made easier as the natural road camber helps you glide around the turny bits.
  • The views. OMG the views. You just want to slow down and take it in.
  • I've raced this lots online - I don't care if I win or lose, just driving the track is a win.
Compared to Nurburgring, yes Nurb is a much more difficult track and ultimately more 'rewarding', however Zahara is just so enjoyable.

Oh and I love the announcer's voice when she says 'Amazing!' when you reach 50 overtakes/combo. It's like she's the chick in the Outrun car yelping for joy

I have very mixed thoughts.

It's a nice new track, in the sense of extra is usually better.

On the other hand, it painfully shows the lacking AI. (overtake the same cars in exactly the same spots, no variation...rubberbanding etc.)

And am I the only one wondering what happened to the promise of "10/20 x 10/20 km, where you can set out your own tracks" etc.??? (Am I being a spoilsport by asking this question?)

Performance is lacking as well.

6/10

I finally managed to properly install 1.12 last night and had my first taste of Sierra.

I really like the track. I feel it has a good mix of tight corners, long sweeping corners and a good sprinkle of fast straight sections which all provide a challenge to nail a good lap.

Although during the time rally there were a number of occasions where the game froze for a split second and then jumped ahead and as a result I nearly slammed straight into the back of another car. I'm sure that'll be smoothened out at some point and I'm eagerly awaiting 1.13.

100% agree...the Toyota VGT loves the Zahara cambered corners. I had a blast of a time learning the track using the FT-1 VGT. Haven't tried the Ferrari 330 P4 with this track yet, but I think the P4 will be quite lively at Zahara.

Hotlapping @ Zahara. Enjoy the ride. Started to rain half-way through this lap...so not too "hot' towards end of lap :)

Thanks PD....great track, best VGT, top update

The guard rails and the kerbs have not taken the beauty of the track...It has become even better in PS4...
