Shaving. Total pain, or no?

I find that two swipes ±45° (π/4 for you nerds) from the with-the-grain direction is the best way to do it. That way you sort of do the against-the-grain cut without actually going against the grain.

It's painful if I leave the hairs grow long, as my electric shaver will grab them, and pull/yank. My face stings a bit after doing it too. But I must do it.

Shaving is an annoyance for me, largely because I live in a town that gets very cold during the winter and my room is located at the opposite end of the floor from the unheated bathroom. It's always fun when you have a 9am start, a two-day stubble and it's a few degrees below zero outside ...

I shave against the grain, and my face is actually better off then going with it. Hot water, and a sharp blade helps as well.
Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winnah!

I don't get along with electrics at all. I have the same Braun as AP, but I think that it is a pile of crap. Give me my gel, a sink and a remotely sharp blade and I'm covered.

This thread is a curse, cut myself three times today, one on the adam's apple, twice on the left cheek near the ear. :ouch:

That's it, I'm becoming a woman!

Do you know, I did notice there was something not quite right about you, but didn't want to mention it...

Back when I shaved with shaving cream and a razor it was a huge hassle and time consuming. Now that Heather bought me an electric shaver its over within 2-3 minutes. Electric razor is the way to go for sure if you can afford it. For me it goes the fastest right after I get out of the shower. I towel off then shave. Works perfect. :)

I don't care too much about it - I use a method similar to what Sage described (Yes, in Pi), and usually after a shower so it's not an annoyance or a painful experience, but it's not as if I wait for it the whole day. The result is worth it, though..

And you think that will save you from shaving? :p

Shaving is bloody annoying, so I rarely do it.

That's because they ARE pieces of crap. Go get a Remington for an electric shaver, they cost that bit more but they are tested, tried and true electric shavers for so many years. I remember having 2 Ronson shavers about 6 months apart (anyone remember them??) and having BOTH literally blow up in my hand from being on for too long because my facial hair was that little bit too long.

I've had the Remington for over 3yrs now, use it fairly regularly and it's still powering on strong. :D

I refuse to pay more for replacement blades than I do for a whole new razor so I end up using the blade for 6 months. It's ok when it's short but when it's long it so painful. I keep thinking about buying an electric shaver but I always end up buying something else.

No problem for me, I have goatee/chinstrap and shave in the shower using only water. Quick and easy.

I shave in the morning nice and smooth with my electric and by noon I could shave again. I kind of like it. It's part of my routine and I just feel [fatbastard]dead sexy[/fatbastard] when I'm done.

Ideally, I'd need to shave twice a day... I don't. I can have a different look every week.

Just like these damn glasses, I'd love to remove the hair follicles in my face so I don't have to shave ever.
