Shift 2: DS3 Handling

This game cannot be serious, why should you have to change settings in the first place to be able to go around corners. Cars seem to develop more lift than downforce (they might as well be jumbo jets), they oversteer through every corner and the engine keeps blowing up on the modern a invitation. If they didn't want it compared to GT5 they shouldn't have called it "real racing".

I've now successfully weaned myself off using X/[] for throttle and brake and the d-pad for steering. I'm using left analog to steer and R2/L2 for throttle/brake. The problem is I want to go back to manual gears, I just don't like automatic for racing. In my old config I used R2/L2 to shift, but that's not an option any more.

So, I need to decide on where to map the shifting. I don't want to change the throttle and brake, and R1/L1 just won't work for me, so it seems there are two common options:

1. Right analog stick for shifting up and down
2. x/[] for shifting up and down

Please help me decide. Which is best and why. I know there will be differing opinions, but I'd like to hear them. Thanks!

I prefer the right analog for shifting, but S2U has zero deadzone on the sticks by default and you'll end up returning to your previous gear, when the stick snaps back, more often than not. If that becomes a problem, the Square and Triangle buttons do a fine job while minimizing the strain from bending your thumb to reach the closer Circle and X buttons.

Well I have found some ecellent settings for the DS3 so you can easily use Elite handling.

chameleoneel @ hardforum.com
steering deadzone 4%
steering sensitivity 0%
throtle deadzone 2%
throttle sensitivity 25%
brake deadzone 2%
brake sensitivity 50%
clutch sensitivity 2%
speed sensitivity 100%

The only difference is I put the speed sensitivity at 80% rather than 100%, but that is just a personal preference.

Here is a video of said settings in action
