Check this thread - especially the video on page 3 (PAL version) if you have fast download speeds.

Or the video in post 23 of that thread (NTSC version) - smaller file size.

Also if you want to see a clean PAL run go here

thx, when it eventually downloads, the one on post 23 will be helpfull, I have only seen the first corner so far in the download, lol

On a more serious note I think practice is the key to mission 34.
If spent 2 nights at 34 and have improved heaps. (still about 12 seconds to go but I feel like I am getting somewhere).
I was able to gold IA15 last night with a lap 20 seconds better (8.55.xxx ) than my previous best Silver time by doing Mission 34 for a few hours. I could have gone faster but I backed of the pace for the last third of the race so I did not spoil the lap.
What I want to ask is how close am I to Success at 34 if I can gold IA15?
What is everyones view on the difficulty of the above two challanges?
What times have people got at IA15 who have then won Mission 34?

I dont know which one is I-A15, but I can say Mission 34 is very difficult to beat. After I beat Mission 34, I went back to license test, in one is you are following the pace car on the nurburing, and one is you driving by yourself on the nurburing with AMD 190 evolution turing car, I golded both of them easily. (i mean easily) but I can not say how much success you will have on Mission 34 if you golded I-A15 first.

I-A 15 is the one following the pace car and you are driving the road version AMD 190 evolution.

Do you remember your times for the licenses Syi04?

There are 5 places that helped me pass 34 (no I haven't gone back yet to get a "clean" run.)

Adenauer Forst - cut the grass. If you do it just right it can save 1-2 sec
Bergwerk - ride the fence all the way around - good for 3-4 sec I bet. Get a 30-40 mph boost up the long hill.
Karussell - Ride the wall another 1-2 sec
2 turns after Karussell - cut the big hill flat out and save a sec or so, but its tricky
The ending chicain - In sight of the 300sl save 1-2 sec by cutting straight across at speed. But watch out where you brake.

All of these have to be done just right or you will actually lose time.

Posts such as this are exactly the reason why damage should be included in Gran Turismo (at least in GT mode). That way people will think twice about wallriding, shortcutting and doing other things that would in real life seriously damage their car and cost them money. GT4 is supposed to be realistic, why ruin the game trying to play unrealistic?

FFS. It is a game for people to enjoy. It is not real life.

I am sure that the people who have got M34 by wallriding etc have got the same level of satisfaction as those who have done it clean. I know I will.

I am not a world class driver and I do not want to buy a wheel just for this game. And I also do bnot want to risk divorce just for the game. Therefore I am comfortable taking the shortcuts.

The only change I think they could make is to have a difficulty setting where you can get 100% on your chosen difficulty setting.

You should be able to change the difficulty setting at will but the game completion would include the easiest level you have used eg if you start on easy and increase it to the hardest setting it would still say 100% easy.

The skill required to do this requires practice also. Good luck to you if you can win using these tactics.

This is what the license tests are for. Test your skill without going of the track.!

If damage was included would you continue with the race / mission / test ?
Most would be hitting the reset button.

If you happen to win then are you really ruining the game? Whats worse? Frustation at not being able to beat this mission or knowing you cut a few corners.

I have not learnt the course well enough to use all these tricks yet.
Seeing I have the PAL version I may not need to.

You gotta do what ya gotta do. If it means shortcutting a few corners to win a mission (or a race, for that matter), no big deal. It's just a game (albeit the best one around), and you can do what you want with it. For me, it's just as long as I pass, it's worth it.

I have sucked at the 'Ring, until last weekend. I ran the 4 hour endurance Saturday. Talk about practice  . But now I am soooo much better. I can actually make times comparable with those near the top of the leaderboard. Practice man, practice....

I dont recall my time was, but I golded it on my first try after I beat Mission 34. And during the race, sometimes I have to actually brake earlier than I normally do to prevent me ram into the pacecar.

I was having to brake harder or lift of the gas to avoid passing the pass car at every long straight and every slow corner also.
The end is near. Last night I improved to be only half a second from winning.
I know I can do better. This track is brilliant once you learn all of it. I still can improve on the second half time splits.

i found IA-15 and S-16 really easy because of how often im on the nurburgring. i was a second off silver on S-16 because i let off for a bit of the course as i dont like 4 mins of driving to go to waste when i have 3 more mins of it left :guilty:

man i golded I-A15 and S-16 on my first try after I beat mission 34. I only remember my S16 time was like 7:02 something.

since gold is 7:07 thats impressive. i gotta get practicing more to see where i can push the cars, i was just pissed off at S14 (chamonix) took me 20 attempts

I never liked the Snow tracks, so I cheated my way through and I golded both of them by wallride all the way. Lol can't believe I golded them.

i nearly silvered the grand canyon and chamonix ones. wallriding of course where i could :sly: :sly: i couldnt wallride all the way, i ended up slamming into a hairpin about 5 times :(

After doing the rally races in the difficult level (5 laps), the license tests were not that hard to gold at Grand Canyon and Chamonix.

im not too good at the rallies :( i guess im more of a tarmac person

Passed mission 34.
I used some of Bigjoes list. Thanks Bigjoe. His 2nd tip I would never have tried.
I was -3 seconds behind at the last time marker, put a wheel on the grass at the end of straight after the kink , spun 360 degrees, caught it on the tarmac facing the right way, with the 300 SL just in front, and won by 0.2xx seconds.

Congrat to you Harry, must feeling reliefed big time. I bet if you go back to the License test S16, you will golded it easily.

Actually I tried a couple of runs and was too slow.
The main problem is the difference in the cars.
In S16 I am braking at corners were I had to at mission 34 but in fact the 190 evo touring car should take them flat out. I need to adjust my thinking with this car.
No where is the 100% complete thread?

"Wah! Wah! Someones cheating!" Get over yourselves. Jeez! Unless the person wallriding/corner cutting is posting bragging about their times, then they can do what the hell they want.

I cheated the missions AND the rallys. Why? Because I have limited time to play, and I'd rather spend it racing, then trying to beat some stupid event where a car hits ME and *I* get a penalty. I've cheated the parts of the game I get no enjoyment from.

Unless someone is cheating to brag about their times, or in an online event (whether it be online, or be a "submit your times" event), then what people do with their game is their own damn decision.

As for shortcuts, I quite often see what looks like other roads coming onto the Ring seemingly. I think "I should check that out next time". Of course, by the time the 7 or so minutes pass and I'm there again, I've forgotten:) The photos thread shows a lot of the cool scenery in the game that we'll most likely never see outside of the photo mode, so I'm curious to "explore" some tracks, see what there is out there. Probably nothing, but still.

What race in real life gives your opponent 123 seconds head start? Has anyone won Mission 34 without having to cheat? I'll believe it when I see it. Not because I don't think if I can't do it nobody can, but because opponent cars get in the way and only move aside at certain points on the track. If you lose time in just one section those other cars will be out of sync to pass unless you do some grasscutting or wall-sliding.
Please if anyone posts a video of winning Nurb M34 without cheating, I'll declare them a driving god and eat my Sony DSC. :)

I believe there are people on here who have done the NTSC version without cheating. I have not seen the videos but trust those who I think have done it.

I will be cheating to get the PAL version although the more I try the more I am tempted to go clean all the way as grasscutting is a pain in its own right.

I admit I had to cut the grass once and wallride once to beat that old SL300 :yuck:
