I think diesel trucks should eventually be added in a dlc for gt5.. i think they would be a great addition to the game.. Please respond with pros + cons and/or ideas.. thanks

I don't think there's gonna be any more dlc for gt5, it would be nice if they had some diesels in gt6 though that actually sounded like a diesel put out some black smoke.

I can think of one diesel in gt5, it's the BMW 120D but the sound is way off, just like almost every other car in the game.

There's the Audi R10 TDI and the Peugeot 908 HDI FAP as well.

I agree with Slashfan, maybe gas trucks first. The V8 ones could at least give the small passenger cars a challenge.

Would be better with older ones with more customization. That would be mind blowing.

Since I daily drive a '91 Cummins Turbo Diesel I'd love to see diesel trucks in the game. Diesels are much easier to make fast and in my personal opinion, sound much better than their gasoline brethren. We'd need much more tuning options though.

Yea I drive a 2007 d max 6.6 turbo with efi live. The diesel trucks would be great but running options would have to increase like programmers and chips. And if they did put them on they would have to throw black smoke

Diesel trucks would be great, but they must be realistic. Toca 2 & 3 had them, but they were disappointing...

You want them in the game, how about you tell us what you think the pros are?

I think diesels sound and smell like absolute garbage compared to the low rumble of a V8 running a bit rich.

My question is why? I personally don't know why there are any trucks in GT to begin with. The SVT-Lightning, and the Toyota Tacoma X-runner perhaps..But the big Dodge RAM? What's the point? I think it's safe to say Diesel trucks are probably the furthest things from Kaz's mind..Talk about wasting space for much better things.

You'd be surprised. They can be great fun & are pretty quick. I've seen a supertruck beat a full race spec 2.0 litre Opel race car over the quarter mile.

Why are there so many tiny japanese cars with no power???? The prius, Imiev, copens, suzuki altos, insight.......Any truck would run circles around these cars so why not put them in a game.

Great but GT, as of now, focuses on circuit racing, not drag racing. Trucks will be obliterated around a circuit against any comparable car.

Dunno but I'd like to see Articulated trucks in game, only the cabs like in truck racing. That'd be fun ;)

I love the electric cars and the hybrids. The only problem is that in all of their descriptions it says that the silence is such a nice driving experience, but when you drive them in GT5, due to the way the sounds are dealt with, the engine sound is amplified so much that it sounds like you're driving something from Star Wars. I mean, a loud V8 can be a nice sound, but an equally loud electric engine is just awful. They need to fix that...

Diesel trucks? Yep, I'm up for it :D

I think it's possible to just race truck against truck ;) (same can be said of the Tank Car for example) which I think would be enormous fun but that's just me.
I think the FIA Europeam Truck Racing series shows it's something that in my view is perfectly suitable for a track based game like GT, as TOCA already proved.
Right now there isn't a truck racing game for consoles and adding just 1 or 2 of these racing trucks (perhaps just 1 is sufficient with a livery editor) would ensure it'll provide fun for a lot of people whilst filling another, perhaps tiny, niche.
I won't suggest the full NASCAR treatment but just having one of these trucks offering a genuinely different driving experience than anything else on offer surely won't harm GT now does it?

I wasn't suggesting drag racing. I was merely pointing out that the European supertrucks are deceptively quick & could make a fun series in GT5.

I would absolutely love to have these added to the GT series, have done for a long time, just like properly supported drag racing.

Here's a free truck racing game dating from 2009 created, probably as a promotional tool, by Renault including just one Renault (obviously) truck and it shows just one truck is possibly enough, now imagine that with GT's physics and graphics (even though the graphics in this vid do look pretty good for a free 2009 game), sounds fun to me.

I think this thread was originally about including diesel pickup trucks, but having those racing semis would be cool too, I remember racing them in TOCA 2 on the old PS2.
