Should GT6 be 3D Compatible?

it should be included yes, especially since it is in gt5. I think they need to improve the spec. scaling of the race to be more inline with the options selected. Can't think of another way of describing it so i'll try and explain..

in gt5 when it rains, they make the people on the side of the track disappear, presumably to save cpu cycles. They need to expand on this idea so that if you have 3d turned on, track detail or maybe even screen resolution drops so that it can maintain 60fps.

When it rains in gt6 i'd prefer a drop in track detail or a drop in resolution if it meant faultless 60fps
 
Particle generation is going to be way better for PS4 than it is on PS3, so rain, snow, leaves on the track, and other effects should be no problem to handle without taking away from other graphics and frame rate.

Thats not proof, Thats just logic but remember, Psn on Ps3 so the Game lasts longer and it was delayed (cut 4 years off right there) GT6 = too late for PS3. If GT5 was crisp and on Deadline to start, We may of had a GT6 by now.....
 
I'm going to bring this thread up again, interesting topic. (I've read the AUP, I'm pretty sure this isn't against the rules)

I'd love to see 3D in GT6, it would add one more element of realism to the game. However, I'd only want to see it if lighter 3D glasses were invented, or if newer TV's use the same tech as the Nintendo 3DS. 👍

EDIT: Ooo ooo! I just saw an earlier post about 4D. GT6 should be one of those super expensive simulators. Like, it would come with a very high-tech TV, a special edition PS3, smoke machines, a scale realistic steering wheel, some type of mechanism which creates smells of burning rubber and exhaust smoke, and very high quality super sim-style speakers and a proper microphone. And if you crash, your car becomes a destroyed wreckage of scraps, and some type of thingy in the seat included in the set for sitting at the wheel would pressure point you neck, back and legs all at once. FRIGGIN' EPIC.

GT5's 3D was great with a proper set up but it was not very useful so I don't think PD should focus on it, fix the core first and then add the gimmicks or better yet, leave the gimmicks out and focus on real innovation.

With 3D enabled, the game is running in 720p, you can easily spot a resolution change in informations, in your TV, so there is a res drop already, which doesn't solve the problematic framerate, actually, with 16 cars on Sarthe with rain in cockpit view it's just unplayable - running in aproximately 10-20 fps. Also 4x MSAA, which is working in 2D 720p is not working in 3D 720p, it looks like just some kind of 2x FXAA or equivalent. That means horrible pixelation, especially whilst raining. So, if GT6 is released on PS3 (what I hope) I don't wanna see 3D at all, PD should focus on something more important. On the other hand, if GT6 is released on PS4 then why not, PS4 should be able to make the game running in 3D even in 1080p with some 2x MSAA.

I've often wondered how much of GT5's graphical problems were in relation to them changing the game to support 3D (as opposed to all of them being because of the dynamic lighting as is usually assumed). Honestly couldn't care less about 3D; certainly not if it was at fault for the occasionally sluggish performance.
 
If 3D could be implemented without hampering the quality, then yes certainly. I don't use 3D, because I can't, but even if I could I would choose not to as I'm not a fan of it in the slightest, especially in the cinema.

Something like this should take a backseat though, it's not a priority.
 
I'm with Yukon. On PS4, sure. On PS3, an optional install please. I think it's part of the reason that Prologue looks better in some respects than GT5.

I'm currently playing Grand Theft Auto 5 on my LG TV in 1080p in 3D, it's unnative 3D but it looks good, I love it. "3D" enough for me, truly. Although I still hope every game in the future is made in native 3D like GT5, Mortal Kombat and Batman: Arkham City was. And I hope that when GT6 does come out it will have been developed with native 3D.

3D is literally just two viewpoints 60mm apart. Doesn't seem that hard on the machine or the coders.

Waste of time if you ask me. If it's easy to do then sure, no harm done. But if it takes away from developing other aspects of the game then no way.

3D TV in general is a gimmick
 
All the silly banter aside in this thread aside, I certainly hope GT6 is 3D compatible (would seem like a step back if they didn't). I'm getting a 70" 3DTV delivered later this week, so it would be nice to use that feature and see how good (or not) it looks.
 
Considering how long it takes PD to do anything - the course maker is already delayed for a future update, same with the improved engine sounds, etc., NO, I'd prefer they not waste time with 3D.

PS4 should have plenty of RAM (if Sony don't make the same mistake) for it to not be a strain on the console, and seeing as Sony are the main company pushing 3-D I doubt they will not include it.

The problem isn't a lack of ram its the GPU power thats needed for 3D too.

i 've bought new tv with passive 3D support. launch gt and game automatically detect 3D so I switched to it. and.... i'm a bit disappointed. thought that effects will be more visible, what i can see is a graphic downgrade.

i'm not a fan o 3d, just want to test it as my tv support this feature.

ps i have to launch gt5, some of you wrote that for 5 effects was impressive... maybe my new tv is a piece of **** or i should play with settings...

GT6 is not compatible with 3D right now...

I think you've activated the "fake 3D" mode on your TV (transforms a 2D video in 3D) but it has nothing to do with a real 3D mode that GT6 should provide in a coupe of days/months/years :D

In GT5, cockpit view with no HUD was really good in my opinion. The photomode in 3D was gorgeous :O
