Getting bored of 1in of steering play. I just want to have a more fun experience while still having the lap times I get with a controller, if not faster. Is it worth it? Where can I purchase one if it's worth the cash?

I upgraded from a DFGT and like it a lot. Fit and finish isn't on par with the DFGT but performance is defiantly a step up. It's pretty much the same price at all the major retailers/etailers so choice is up to you.

It's hard to beat the DFGT, (especially for as cheap as it got) but I've seen the T150 in the store (haven't gotten to drive one) and I think the finish is at least as good.

when you will get the wheel, you will never go back to controller! And I bet when you will get T-150, after half a year you will want to upgrade to T300...

If you know how to drive a real car, your lap times must improve! With wheel you will be more precise and make less mistakes!

While you wait for the wheel make sure you have some secure place to mount it! Wobbly tables are very bad choice! I recommend to build your own wheel stand with wood materials (like I did) if you dont want to spend much money on all these gadgets!

EDIT! make sure you get the wheel which works with PS3, PS4 and PC... many old wheels dont work with PS4...

also think about materials.. you would want the wheel to feel as real as possible... if its plastic it could take away the feeling and immersion!

I just watched a review from the guys generally considered the best in the business-

I don't know how to make it a link, but it is by inside sim racing on youtube.

Unless you live near a retailer that puts things on display, probably not.

Fry's is pretty good for that. I've tried several wheels there, and they have a great return policy.

Honestly theirs much more that goes into buying a wheel. If you never had a wheel I would not recommend a high end wheel. Simply because you might not be interested in that aspect of racing simulators.

I would start of with a low end wheel . See if you like it. Don't go all out on a wheel and then find out that niche is not for you. On the other hand if you do enjoy it, then you will want to spend that money on a high end wheel. But be warned it will become an obsession. And a hobby.

The benefits of having a wheel is that you can apply your experience in the real world. Something you cannot learn with a controller

Wheels will always be better than a controller. Your just have to be good at it. Its a learning curve. Like in real life . Unlike in a controller, A wheel will give you so much more info as to what the car is doing or about to do. But this all depends on the quality of your wheel.

Actually I would not recommend buying a low end wheel. Go with medium end at least (Logitech G29 or Thrustmaster T150). The price difference isn't that much BUT the driving quality is significant. If you don't like it you could always refund it. But more than likely if you are thinking of getting a wheel, you are feeling pretty dissatisfied with a controller and its limitations. Get a reasonable wheel and might as well make it a long term investment. Learning curve is steep, but you will enjoy it every step of the way if you love driving and challenging yourself 👍

In a few years time when your wheel starts to wear down, you can move upmarket to a high end wheel (T300 or whatever equivalent it will be in the future). Also with the new console generation by then your wheel will probably not be compatible anyway.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I have decided to buy the T300RS. Walmart has a sale going on selling them for $300 instead of the normal $400. All I can say after owning the wheel for a few days is WOW. The wheel is miles ahead of the controller for feel, plus after a days worth of practice, I was running lap times similar to my controller times. There are a few flaws, like the pedals shift around, but I just used my textbooks to hold the pedals in place. Thanks again everyone!

Congrats! :D Once you have it set up properly it'll be even better as you can focus on the driving and not worry about the wheel suddenly flying off your hands or the pedals sliding when you are threshold braking. If you can't bolt it down, put it on a carpet surface (don't know about TM but Logitech has spikes underneath that you can pull out). If you don't have a carpet surface at home, just buy a mat with a rubber base and put it there.
