Should I Do It?

Even though this question is not directly related to GT5 I figured I'd ask you GTPlanet members because it seems like you guys give out some good advice. 👍

I was cruising around Trail Mountain Circuit just now and I started to realize how much I don't respect GT5 as a whole any more at all. I used to be so happy after completing the new seasonal events and earning $100,000, buying a brand new car that I had saved up the money for, or even reading up on the a certain cars description to learn more about it and better appreciate it but now I don't even bother nor do I have the desire to do any of that now... I also have a Camaro Edge Special that I didn't actually earn by going out and buying an Edge product for the code which I cringe at ever time I see and you cannot delete, sell, or gift the car. I think I feel this way because I have some much money and have gone through so many different cars without really respecting them or knowing much about them. I know might sound a bit crazy to some but I really want to be able to enjoy GT5 again and all it has to offer.

I am a level 33 A-Spec and a level 28 B-Spec with around $11,000,000 but that doesn't really mean much to me at the moment to be honest...

So the question is, should I wipe out all of my GT5 data and start fresh or is that just a dumb idea?

Edit: I've now started over fresh and I can say I'm really enjoying it as of right now, thanks for all of your feedback guys! 👍

Well problem is even if u started over you would just get 300,000 grind the Ferrari race then get tons of cash like you have now....sadly the seasonal races make making money too easily so there's no more challenge

I'd have to be a level 12 to drive a Ferrari though.

The challenge should be racing and winning races by doing them with slower cars...not how easy is to raise cash

I say stay away from deleting anything. In the end you are going to end up doing the same thing. That is, doing the same events to buy the cars you want.

Save yourself the time of doing tedious things over (such as licenses) and just make up some stipulations to play by. Give yourself some limits on what you can and cant do on various aspects of the game and go from there. Trust me, I've done it back in GT4. I didn't like going through the same stuff for no reason and couldn't wait 'till I got back to the higher levels.

My goal wasn't just raising cash but there's really nothing left to do once you pretty much finish A and B Spec.

I think I'd actually stay away from the seasonal events except for doing each one just once but I guess you could be right.

Being a high level doesn't really effect me that much to be honest except for the cars I'm able to drive of course...

Sorry, my answer was @Spretz.
Still you should try doing A-Spec with slower car, I miss the A-spec points from GT4. or the regulations from the previous GT's

Oh my bad so you don't think I should do it?

So your mad because you have too much money? Please explain

I'm not just mad about that.

I'm also mad because of the DLC Camaro I have which I actually didn't earn, not respecting any of the cars I own or have previously owned, selling cars because I was mad at them, etc...

I know I might sound a bit OCD but I respect what you guys have to say about doing it or not.

Just do what I do: copy your current savegame too some other profile and start over, and if you ever want your old stuff back, copy the old save back

Do you guys know if there's any way to delete the Camaro SS Edge Special?

I don't exactly know what it is, but there's just something about wasting cash I don't like. Right now, with the excellent payouts the seasonals have (and yes, these are pretty much the only events I still do, due to these having at least some novelty for a short while), you are pretty much forced to constantly buy stuff to stay below your $20M limit. Now, that's all nice and good if you still want stuff, but if you've already got all the cars, and the ones you really like five times, you are forced to buy stuff you don't really need or want. What's more, you are forced to take a break from racing to go and "waste some cash on stuff you don't need or want". Granted, I could just always click on that you can't have more than $20M message and ignore it, but there's just something within me that won't let me do this. Soon, however, I will have to, as I'm slowly closing in on that 2000 car garage limit. Then I won't even be able anymore to waste cash on cars I don't want or need, I effectively will have to start to delete some. So, that's what I've worked so long and hard for? That's the (anti-)climax of the game, that I have to start deleting cars from my garage or to start to simply decline any further winnings? That's the aim of this game?

And no, I wouldn't ever delete my save and start fresh. But I'm slowly moving off my main account and onto my alt. At least there I can still race without it feeling like a waste. It's sad really, and it's probably mostly me, but there's just something about wasting cash (even if only virtual cash) that makes me feel uneasy. I've earned it, so why the hell can't I keep it?

So the question is, should I wipe out all of my GT5 data and start fresh or is that just a dumb idea?

I think it's fine iff you first make a backup, just in case. Or, alternatively, start playing on a second account. I wouldn't ever permanently delete anything, though.

I'd have to be a level 12 to drive a Ferrari though.

I had to start over from scratch about 2-3 weeks ago and promptly bought the Cap car for the K-Car seasonals...I was level 15 after 2 races and blasting around the French countyside by race #3 in a brand new 458 Italia and was at level 36 inside a week!(Had a ton of free time!...)...The first time around I had to work for many months to achieve that level and then level 40 was much later than that..Two weeks after I reached level 40,the hard way ,the Inflation Era arrived and now it just seems too easy...To top it all off, level 40 A-spec has never had anything waiting at the finish line. All you have is the satisfaction of a job well done.

Maybe create a second account? One new and one with extra cars. If u are going to wipe your memory, can I have your cars?

I think I'm going to do it and buy a Honda Civic '97 from the NCD. I just think it will be fun and yet another challenge. :D

Just because you start over isnt going to make the game magically fun again.
You're still going to come to the same point, and its really counter-intuitive.

Also, give me some cars+paints before you delete.

My PSN is Silberc

Why not just start another account, and start from scratch? That way all your effort to date is preserved, in case you change your mind.

And I hope the "complaints" about too much money don't become too vocal or we'll be back to the days of grinding the oval for hours on end just to afford a half decent car!

Well this time I'm actually going to read up on the cars I buy, respect them, not abuse the seasonal events or A/B Spec races like I once did, not abuse the cars, and just really try to respect the game more this time around.

I still don't know if I want to do it or not though, I feel like It'll be a big mistake but I guess we'll have to see. :sly:

BLITZ_69
I can't confirm this right now, but since I was DLC surely it has it's own save somewhere on your hard drive. You should just have to find that file and delete it.

It saves to the installed GT5 data ( the 8 gb one )

Yes, please. If you are dead-set on starting over, for God's sake back up your file or use a different profile. There is a very, very high chance that you will regret it otherwise.

Save your data, create a new account.

/problem solved.

I would like to keep the same account though considering I've had it for a long time and It's my name here on GTP.

I go and play something else but I always find myself coming back to GT5 for a quick blast, when I first got the game in November it never left the ps3 for about 4-5 months lol.

I don't even have another game for my PS3 at the moment.

So It's been in mine for like 7 or 8 months!
