The portable market is reborn! Both the DS and PSP look good. I would go with the PSP myself, but the DS is good for the devoted Nintendo follower.

The DS is a gimmick.

It's similar to Ford vs. Chevrolet. If one comes out with a new car, the other will soon to follow to compete against it. Sony was first out of the gate with PSP. Nintendo simply got scared and pulled out this prototype technology demonstrator that would have never seen the light a day and called it the Developer System. Nintendo has every right to be scared, since the portable market is the only market it controls, and Sony is threating to take away this market as well.

I believe Nintendo is making a fatal fault with the DS. How can a company market two different products that do exactly the same thing? It will be very hard to convert the GBA consumers to the DS, especially without a killer app (such as Pokemon).

Nintendo will only to look as far as their friends over at Sega to see the problems with having multiple systems out on the market.
